The Manchester United Thread

Joel Periera agent has told Ojogo paper that he will sign a new deal at Utd in the Summer. Great news if true. Very talented GK!

listening to gab marchotti and co talking about what went wrong this season(mainly PL)but for me its simple.mourinho likes to setup his teams so they are hard to beat firstly and we simply havent got enough quality going forward within that structure.Im confident that as soon as we bring in some top class attacking players we will be far more effective at carrying out joses plan. Also, any views on the rumoured fabregas link?

We've got quality attackers tbh. But apart from Rashford and Mkytarian I'm not sure the rest would of been here if Mourinho had taken over from Fergie. Maybe Lingard also. We've just missed to many chances. And our CM depth is not good enough!

What went wrong is in last 5 years United had 4 managers, each playing entirely different style. It's quite astonishing really for a place that used to pride itself for not being a "sacking club". The squad is a mishmash of 4 different people trying to implement 4 different strategies. Ditching LVG might have been a right idea, but should've brought someone who can continue his work instead of starting over.

The club is a mess, and none of the managers you've had are responsible as much as the VIPs, the board has no longterm strategy beyond hiring a high profile mangers, throwing bags of money at them and hoping something will come out of it.

i agree mate but i just dont think we have the required quality to succeed under jose

Have not watched a game of CL in two years now. I'll tune up for this Juve-Monaco game. It better be worth it.

Even if United officials raped a truck of montain goats while negotiating the transfer, worst thing that's gonna happen is some ****** fine to United or Raiola. Then they will appeal and it will be reduced to even shittier fine.

You heard it here first.

Worst case scenario, a transfer ban. And that, would really **** up United.

It would save some money in the inflated transfer market, and maybe even mean Jose will have to go with the youth prospects. It could turn into a win win situation in that respect.....

Although I don't see it happening (like I said, worst case scenario), Mourinho is just not the type to play the young guns. He only does it when he has no other choice, or expecting a defeat, and setting himself up with an excuse. I really don't have anything against the man, but his history with promoting academy players is not the highlight of his career by any chance.

city were only fined for their breach of drug testing or whatever it was so how can we have a ban for a lesser offence?no way will fifa want any troube with th =e glazers belive me on that

They have however got a ban for tapping up youngsters as have Liverpool. Which can only be a good thing for other academies. Stop the big boys stealing the potential and maybe we will see more British talent coming through instead of them getting stuck in the reserves or discarded by big clubs.

Both those bans, plus the other investigations currently ongoing, are spurious at best down to the PL changing the rules during the process. It won't stop City in any way, shape or form from hoovering up kids. They have individual scouts at every level going right down and the incentives clubs like the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea offer are always going to be more tempting to poorer families. You can go through virtually every City team from aga 7/8 up and find at least one Liverpudlian kid in there who'll more than likely end up discarded before his first pro-contract and end up starting over semi-pro or the lower leagues if he's lucky Or just completely lost the game.

The whole system here is completely flawed.

true that! City are terrible though they just try tapping up any youngster that's of any quality from any academy or age group. I've been told that they have tried to poach Gomes, Gribbin, Buffonge, Williams from us numerous times. Even now still with Gomes. It's a big reason Pool, Everton, Utd wrote and threatened to boycott games against City academy at all levels.
