The Manchester United Thread

I seriously don't understand why he'd put not just himself but the club at risk there? Or why he's played him through the knock-outs to this stage to put himself in this position?

de Gea F-s up the final, well, it is what it is and that's on de Gea. Utd went their best team regardless.

Romero F-s up the final, and the spotlight and serious questions immeadiately (and rightly) goes on the manager for not playing arguably the best and safest goalie the World in a game he's putting EVERYTHING on. I don't get why Mourinho would chance that nor why he's backed himself into a bad corner with how he's played the keeper situation this run when he has that World class option and theres no need?

Risky gamble that wouldn't sit comfortable with me if both those guys were at my club. With so much at stake, play your strongest side regardless.
Sevilla managed to do it last season playing the back up keeper and wining it. If Romero is taken out for just the final and De Gea makes an error then everyone would be asking why did Mourinho drop Romero for De Gea when Romero had made no errors and got the side to the final. Also I would say the reason for playing Romero earlier is to keep him sharp in case De Gea got injured. Given that he has played in 2 copa america finals and one world cup final with all of them going to extra time and only let one goal in I think he can handle the big matches well enough to start

Don't See the problem he's been great when played. Made crucial saves to keep us in it. And think he has 11-16 clean sheets.

I'll be curious to see the reaction from you lads if he's at fault for Utd losing this final and there's the best 'keeper in World football sat on your bench.

You play your best side regardless with so much at stake.

If we lose it will most likely be down to United players trying to make last minute submissions to win the coveted worst miss of the season award

If he cost us the final so be it. Players have cost us plenty of points this season. De Gea has made mistakes this season it happens.

I'm sure they are if they've been watching Utd limp through the knock-outs. First leg away at Vigo aside you've been pretty darn **** poor. But again, results are all that ultimately matter in straight knock-out footie.

You definitely need to play De Gea. It'll be a ***** trick on Romero after he's played 10 straight in Europe or whatever it is but when everything's on the line, as he's made this game, then you have to play your strongest side. Could do with getting a couple early too like the League Cup Final. You know he's just gonna' bunker in and you'd think Ajax would be much stronger second half. Much easier to hang on with a 2 goal cushion then panicking with one.

i think its becoming increasingly obvious de gea is madrid bound and jose prob doesnt want a player who isnt 100% focused

Romero simply deserves to start, he's been excellent entire CL campaign.

  • OK. There's a Colombian Radio Station which has said James Rodriguez has signed a pre-contract with United.
James Rodriguez has a pre-agreement with Manchester United, in the program In The Play of RCN Radio was given the exclusive. A source quoted by Antonio Casale confirmed that James's attorney, Jorge Mendes, spoke with Florentino Perez for James to go to United.

In the contract, there would be an interest in James' main sponsor, the Adidas brand, which requires James to wear the number 10 jersey that today belongs to Wayne Rooney who is not in Mourinho's plans.

I'd love James to come, but does that mean no Griezmann?
I don't think so. Maybe Griezmann will play as STR. Or maybe Rodriguez will be a back up to him. Or maybe one will play wide. So basically no one knows. But that Colombian Journolist dies have a good record. And a few SA people I've spoke to on another Forum say that station is not known for spouting ****. Ducker has also linked us with him. Me personally I would love him here. Very good player and underrated. Great technique, good passer, **** of a dead ball specialist. And knows where the onion basket is.

You've changed yer tune r mate the Big Pole!

When we had this conversation the last round you'd argued if he played the remaining league games he'd be sound with it and it wouldn't be like dropping him! Your neutral this season. NO flip-flopping!

If it's a choice between James and Griezmann then I'd take the former, because there's plenty of good strikers we can target.

I am hoping if we get either Griezmann or James, that they will play the #10 role and we somehow get a Striker like Lukaku!

Apparently Paul pogba's father died at the age of 79.
Yeaah just seen. Shame. RIP Mr Pogba! Least he can have some off time in these dead rubber Prem games to spend time with family before the final.

On the ST subject would rather have Morata than Lukaku!
