The Manchester United Thread

Why should he have to hand in a transfer request and tarnish his great connection/reputation with the fans and club generally? Considering how good he has been for us, I think it's good enough for him just to let the club know behind closed doors he'd like the move rather than having to hand in an official transfer request. Which is most likely the amicable way he wants to go about doing it, keeping things private rather than going out on a sour note by saying he publically wants to leave to get this move forced through.

The club have already said they have no intention of selling unless he forces their hand.
Handing in a transfer request doesn't tarnish his reputation at all.

Well I never looked at Rooney the same way after he did it and all the drama surrounding it. Different circumstances I know but it would certainly make a lot of fans unhappy if he went about it doing through a transfer request, people take that as trying to force it.

well this will not be tha same as it will noy be about the money think he will be on less it will be about him wanting to play in his own country

Everybody basically saying Sky are talking bollocks now-

Mufc haven't received a bid from Real Madrid for David De Gea. As reported this morning, Utd insist he's not leaving & is happy at club.

Don't know what happened to them!?

The only reason why I wouldnt want him to hand in a transfer request is because that would give Real more leverage in trying to buy him. With how they go around with their transfer, and how they ****** up trying to get him last time, they deserve to break the bank and more to get DDG.

But if he does put in a transfer request, I wouldn't be angry or think less of him. We've known for a while he wants to go to Madrid, and it would just mean that he thinks now is the time.

Yeah, it's highly debatable if Madrid can be even considered your competition, not only they play in different country but United and Premier League in general are nowhere near that level.

Also, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this news came from Italian press.

DDG is very different to Rooneys situation. I wouldn't begrudge him at all

so do we think it will affect griezmann arriving with atletico having their transfer ban upheld?they surely must be desperate to keep him even more now but he wants to win trophies and surely less chance now at atletico

if we offer the rc thay have to sell

One interesting thing I noticed somewhere was that while Athletico are powerless to stop Griezmann if Utd pay the RC is there some rules regarding the structure of the fee. Because usually clubs structure the deals to be paid on installments of which good example is the Martial deal Utd did, but in this case can Athletico demand the fee to be paid upfront in full?

bbc reporting utd have cooled their interest in griezmann!

Like the Pogba nonsense, it'll all be cleared up in the next month or so. Not much point over-speculating

I don't think the transfer ban effects outgoing players if the release clause is met.

Actually it is not a relase clause (which is between two clubs), but a buy-out clause which exists in every players contract in Spain. In buy-out clause the player is required to buy out the remainder of his contract.

Griezmann doesn't have €100mil lying around somewhere so basically Utd have to transfer him the funds for it and when they do it is considered incoming income for Griezmann which is in turn taxable by Spain so the actual amount required to "free" Griezmann is considerably higher then the clause.

(Unless things have changed since Javi Martinez went to Bayern if anyone has information? Especially the part about tax)
