The Manchester United Thread

Tbh the only thing I get from that is what I mentioned just now. Pogba is our only player fit to lace Barcelona's boots when it comes to on the ball ability, in Mourinho's opinion.

Between this and your view on Conte/Kane you have seriously skewed reading comprehension.

I don't know how I'm missing anything. This clearly is pointing to the fact that Pogba is our only great player along the lines of all those Barca players he mentioned.

I just don't agree with it personally, but each to their own I guess.

Tbh i think a few Utd players would get in Barca squad/team.

That's what I mean, this is why I didn't like Mourinho's comments. It undermines a lot of players in our squad.

It undermines them about as much as Conte like Kane undermines Morata ie. it doesnt

I'm sorry but that Conte comment about 'Kane being a dream signing', was weird as **** to say, no matter what context you take it.

I don't know what Conte was thinking to say that, I don't even see it as a dig at Levy either. Just makes Kane seem like a golden gem of a signing and plays into Spurs hands more than anything. Anyway that's for the Chelsea thread.

Perisic looking lively in the Inter - Bayern friendly, few bits I've found from a match report

Perisic then did a little showboating with a few stepovers, much to the delight of the crowd, demonstrating the confidence the goal had given the Italian side.

Inter added a second goal in the 30th minute when the Bayern defence were again caught napping.

Perisic found time and space on the left to deliver an excellent cross, and the Bayern defence allowed Eder a free run into the box. The Italy international took advantage by heading past Sven Ulreich.

Perisic again caused Bayern trouble with a surging run down the left that took him clear of the Bayern defence, but none of his teammates could keep up and he had no support before being upended by Niklas Dorsch.

Seem the highlights. Very impressive by the looks of things. Would be a very good addition if we can get him. Pace, crossing, dribbling, work rate.

..... But, we really need to address these issues in this window, not another season of mediocrity and finishing outside top 4.

Get the DM in now, or else our season could be in tatters.

You need to completely readjust your expectations on the top 4. It's no-longer a given for anyone. There's 6 sides now all on a very similar level fighting for 4 spots. 2 big clubs are going miss out every season. And Utd could easily be one of those as much as any of the other 5.

No question you need to be in there and it'd be disappointing if you weren't. But the same goes for everyone else and it's getting more difficult with the passing season.

You can't just expect it any more.

For me, Matic is more important. Ideally the Mbappe deal will had quickly and then United can assess if Bale is happening very quickly or not. We wont sign both Bale and Perisic, and United have wanted Bale for nearly 5 years

Not saying I necessarily expect it, but I definitely expect us to give us the the best chance going into the season. Meaning we have to address our weaknesses in this window. Make sure that a DM gets signed and don't think we can act on it next summer instead. That kind of mentality could lead us going into this season with a losing attitude.

I'm hoping we'll get a DM anyway, even if it is Matic, not my preferred choice but certainly someone that would improve what we have.

Yep. If Madrid tie up Mbappe soon. Ed will be all over that like a rash. Especially with Benzema signing a new deal, and Mbappe wanting first tram football.

And then the de Gea talk starts again which is the very least thing Utd need.

I'd see Madrid finding room for them all first before they'd straight up sell to a club they covet something from. And all the talk of them having to sell before they can buy is the most ridiculous of all the ridiculous Madrid news from so called twitter ITK's.

The de Gea move is dead. De Gea himself was the one who killed it.

Yeah, anyone notice the pure satisfaction De Gea got from coming out on top vs Madrid in the shootout? A little "Yes, **** you" fistbump.

That wasn't the point.

You go in for a Madrid player, they are gonna' come back for him. Madrid won't care if, to all intents and purposes, it's 'dead' this summer.

Yeah but unlike the other summers, when De Gea was probably up for a possible switch if all parties agreed, he doesn't want to go now after them having the chance this summer but passing up the opportunity.

"Make a fool of me once, shame on you. Make a fool of me twice, shame on me" comes into play now with DDG, and he'll be as stubborn as a mule now I'd imagine.

Maybe Jones off? Or this is going to be our CB partnership for the SC? There the only 2 reasons I can think Bailly and Lindelöf haven't played together yet.
