My take on Matic:

Okay so we got matic and paid 40 million but i pretty much feel chelsea got the better deal and sold us their trash.

Matic was a beast the season before mourinho's last at chelsea. He was the best DM in the league by a mile but he has dropped off massively in terms of performances. He looks a shell of that matic of 2014/2015. He won only 1 tackle and 1.5 interceptions per game last season. Decent stats but no where near the level we need at united.

I would've reacted to this a lot more optimistically if it mean't the belgian mop was leaving.

Tbh his tackle and interceptions stats from his first and second season aren't that different despite being worse. And can't really compare last season due to different system/role in the team. To say he's massively dropped off is a bit premeture tbh.

Yeah, this sudden revisionism about Matic being some superbly consistent performer is rather amusing. Last time he had a good season was 3 years ago. He's certainly talented enough to turn his fortunes around again, but Chelsea have sold him for a reason.

Tbh they didn't really want to sell by the sounds it. Matic had to ask for the move and was made to train alone

What the **** has Matic arriving got to do with Fellaini?

No one said he was superbly consistent. He us however consistent. He wasnt at his best latst season but he was consistent and still did a job. Even if he plays at the same level Pogba and Herrera can do far more damage. If he plays to his best, that midfield becomes very hard to beat.

A good source that usually is spot on with PSG transfer stuff as well as a few others have reported. Riola has acted with Aurier and his agent to agree a deal to join Utd. All depends on how his trial goes next week.

Reminds me of the Father Jack joke from Father Ted in the football episode

Dougal "Didn't you once tell me Father Jack had a trial for Liverpool?"

Ted "No...no, he was ON trial, IN Liverpool"

Great article, Mourinho knows Matic better than anyone.

- 7 assists last season in PL was higher than any player at United and 3rd highest at Chelsea.

- Will free up Pogba.(Goes in more depth on why obviously in article)

- Started 30 PL games and kept Fabregas out the Chelsea team despite fans claiming he was a shell of himself at times.

- Mentality and experienced winner, something United badly lack after the departures of Rooney, Ibrahimovic and co.

- Commanding charachter who exudes authority on the pitch, despite being not the most vocal.

Most importantly it gets United that holding midfielder that is so hard to find in todays market, especially when you consider the only realistic alternatives were Dier and Fabinho. The latter seemingly not available anyway now.

Oh and for the record, I'm not suddenly going to say that I think this is the best signing ever. As that would be very hypocritical of me.

But the more I think about it, we knew how badly we needed a holding midfielder this summer, it was arguably our most important signing as well as a striker. We've seen how hard they are to come by, we could off easily gone into next season with no one, the fact that we have now got one and a proven winner at that is only good in my mind. The alternatives weren't any more proven and in Dier way too expensive and frankly, not as good.

Zzeezzy getting me even more excited for the new season :) stick with the PMA! ;)

Yeh, we still need that winger though! Then I think we're solid for this coming season. Just imagine as planned if we had actually of got Griezzmann as well, would of been perfect. That one is happening next summer though. ;)
