The Manchester United Thread

38% possession, 1 shot on target and no crosses completed.

That performance against an under performing side cannot be justified.

Herrera and Matic were terrible passing today. Which is unusual! Both did there jobs well breaking up play though. Jones looked uncomfortable playing next to Smalling. Watching it back now he never looked comfortable passing him the ball.
Tbf, who would be comfortable playing next to smalling?

^ Conversely, I remember Martial getting doubled/tripled up vs Liverpool with no support from his FB in an attacking sense.

That was Trents PL debut. It was far more he was getting the extra support to help him through than any specific ploy on Martial.

U18s won 6-1 against Wolves today. Burkart, Levitt, Barlow and Greenwood with a hat trick in a fantastic performance. Great to see there giving him regular mins in the u18s

Alright my take,
Disappointing performance that. Make no mistake, i would've taken a draw before a ball was kicked but the manner in which we got the draw was terrible. I remember saying at halftime that we were poor so far. The 2nd half made me look at the 1st half performance as decent. Only 1 good chance created against a crappy defence. I would've hoped for better attacking initiatives after that piece of interplay going into the 2nd half but no, we come out worse for some reason, being terribly overrun in midfield. I understand the injury crisis and all but i expected better.

Still a great point though regardless, Liverpool only conceded one goal at Anfield in league apparently so far?

Still hate how we went about it, but if this results in glory at end of season, no one shall complain.

Plus we've seen with Chelsea and Arsenal losing today, every point in every game you have to fight for.

Gomes got a goal and an assist today for England u17s in there WC. What a player!

Just started watching the first 10 mins of the u18s match and Garner looks like a really good player. Reminds me so much of Carrick. Great reader of the game, wins so many balls by good positioning. And has great passing range setting off attacks from deep just sitting infront of the back 4. Never looks rushed and always has time. His partner Levitt just scored a thunderbolt into the top corner from about 25yrds.

Surely Wont be long before Barlow gets his first cap at International level. Know the England youth staff have been watching him closely since the back end of last season. Great technique and passing. Good at set pieces and always scores or assists everytime he plays and has a decent burst of pace. Can play 10 or 8 just as good. Nice peno today and assist today.

Loving Burkart. Stepped it up another level start of this season. Far more consistency to his game 4gls and 3 assists already in 6 games. Rapid pace, great movement and knows where the goal is. Can also come deeper and link up play and assist. Can see why Bayern where so keen to sign him. Another thing I like about him is his pressure he puts on the defence from the from.

Like Gomes, Mason Greenwood despite just turning 16 looks levels above u18s. Great hat trick today. Surprisingly good with his head for a winger. Pace, Dribbling, skills has the lot. Defo every bit as talented as Sancho who just left City for Dortmund!

Other stand out players today. Baars playing RW. Direct pacy constant threat with his running, dribbling and good crossing. New signing Ramanzani in the second half replacing Burkart. Very good movement nearly nabbed a goal. Very quick and composed. And Puigmal just a silky smooth footballer makes everything look easy. Great vision composure and passing. Great free kick on him and can just glide past players, ala Ineista. Surprised he chose us over Barca tbh. Danny Williams at LB reminds me of a spitting image of Shaw breaking into Saints first team. Defo one to watch!

Agree on all fronts. Would have taken a point before, but we could have done more this match. That said, good result overall

Live on MUTV now. Currently sitting bottom of the league :(

#MUFC U23s v #WHUFC team: O'Hara, Riley, Shaw, Warren, Scott, Whelan, Boonen, Kehinde, Wilson, Buffonge, Mitchell

1-0 up after 60 seconds. Good run and through ball by Boonen. Nicely slotted away by Mitchell. 1-1 terrible defending by Mitchell when the cross comes in. 2-1 cracking shot from Wilson keeper did well to save, Mitchell followed up with the rebound. 2-2 at HT they scored with the last cross of the half. Charlie Scott nowhere to be seen but he’s a CM playing at CB.

Jose flirting with PSG?

Hope he doesn't let me and my "I'm telling you lads, Jose's here for at least 4/5 years" defending of him down...

Just read them quotes in Independent, pretty annoyed at that tbh.

Not that I ever thought he was going to be a long term manager but why say those things about PSG now?

Odd comments to say at the same time with rumours of a new deal on the table.

We all knew he would never finish his career here. He has always said he wants to finish with the national job. Could still stay here 5-6 years.

5-6 years is optimistic! Personally can only see him staying whilst things are going relatively well. For example if we didn't win PL this season, next season would probably be make or break.
