The Manchester United Thread

I guess that's it for Evra. Probably a 12 month ban, at his age, his career is finished.

Romelu Lukaku reveals all in exclusive interview with Thierry Henry | Football News | Sky Sports

Lukaku genuinely comes across as such an intelligent player and very much team first. Good stuff in there about Rashford and his mentality and leadership already.

It's funny how he seems to always speak of his understanding/partnership with Rashford, but I personally think Lukaku & Martial seem just as, if not more, in sync. The winner vs. Spurs the most recent example.

Must just be a personality thing.

Lukaku has undoubtedly been good overall so far, however I think he has been overlooked in the big games. Without him against Spurs we wouldn't of won, to setup Martial's goal and get us a vital 3 points. He can't be judged against Liverpool really despite his one chance in that game, he had very little or next to no service. Lukaku has exceeded my expectations. He just has to keep it going and keep improving. He himself rightly said that he isn't the finished article and it's good when a player themselves acknowledges that. It shows they have the right mentality.

He can get better, which really excites me. Up to Mourinho and the squad to keep creating that platform. Miki needs to dropping at this rate.

Despite his seemingly lacking performances, especially of late, Mkhitaryan has created so many of our chances so far this season. So I can kind of see why Mourinho is reluctant to drop him.

He's a really odd sort player. Being effective, yet playing quite averagely

It's interesting that he's still as ineffectual most times without the ball as he ever was at Everton. (With the odd exceptions like Huddersfield.). But unlike at Everton, where he was just a lazy ____, this is by design and all Utd want is him there to be on the end of things.

He was far more involved early but the longer the years gone on, the more isolated you've left him to just be the preverbal goal getter. (Which makes it more silly to criticise his recent barren spell as that's the way you're/ he's set up to play and he's not getting the service of late.). The last two years have been two of the easiest to deal with Utd #9's the L'pool game in living memory down to that.

It's a high risk/ high reward way of tackling it. When everyone else is on it and giving that supply, goals follow. When they aren't, the fella' in the #9 shirt may as well not be on the park most games.

Interesting to see how it works out for Utd the next few months.

Nearly 1-0 after 90 seconds. Great ball over the top by Barlow to Tanner on the RW. Cuts it back across the box for Williams at LB to just graze past the post.

Great link up play between down the right between Laird and Greenwood who sweeps in a lovely ball. Puigmal running in from the LW ahead of the CBs forcing a great save from there keeper. Fantastic pressing so far!

Barlow really controlling the game from CM. Lovely defence splitting pass to Greenwood, who turns straight away as his deflected shot goes inches wide.

1-0 Stoke. Williams gets done by the winger who cuts it back to the edge of the box. There RW strokes in a great top corner finish. Completely against the run of play.

HT- 1-0 Stoke. Played well dominated. Literally attack vs defence. Stoke 1 attack 1 goal. Laird has been the best player on the pitch at RB so far. Has the lot to be a top top FB!

Max Dunne off injured after a goal saving challenge. Milen Baars on.

Nearly the equaliser. Fantastic by Laird destroying there LB. Cuts it back to Puigmal who shot just goes over the bar. Puigmal off for Mellor a more natural winger.

Burkart off McGhee on. Baars been great with his pace and dribbling since coming on. Barlow misses a good chance.

Mellor just heads over :( 1 min plus 6 mins injury time remains to get something from this. Barlow off after a cynical challenge. Utd down to 10.

**** off! Utd robbed there. Ball crosses the line from a header from a corner not given. **** off again denied a blatant penalty on Greenwood.

Feels relevant as we're probably in for an 'ugly' away performance.

Finished 1-0. Domination from start to finish. Then robbed at the end with a goal and peno not given. Fuming!
