The Manchester United Thread

Get Fabinho, 2 birds.

Yeah think United need to do a City and go flat out and freshen the defense up soonblind

Would probably keep Blind because of his versatility but wouldn't have him as main starter. Players like him are always useful.

Not sure who you could go for at left back really

Would not mind Rose, Bertrand, Gaya, Aaron. Ghoulam but he’s just got a major injury. Wouldn’t keep Blind. Don’t need his versatility tbh Young can fill in at LB. And Jose doesn’t play Blind at CB or DM/ CM. Cash in I say same for Darmian. And Fellaini if he’s refusing the contractor we’ve offered him. Give more game time to Tuanzebe, Perriera, TFM. Then strengthen with some more quality in CM and Attack after sorting out LB.

You're still guaranteed qualification though, you won the H2H with Basel.

EDIT: Scratch that... there's a small chance there could actually be a three-way tie, in which case GD will be the tie-breaker.

They've qualified already with the head-to-head's even in a three-way tie unless those rules have changed.

*Edit* Scrap that. 'As good as qualified.' I make it they'd have to lose 4 to CSKA to not progress.

And that ain't' happening.

A loss is a loss but nothing to worry over when the context is pretty meaningless considering we will progress anyway.

I've never really liked or believed Andy Mitten and his supposed sources within the club. But there is one part in that article that really bugs me. He questions Matt Busbys legendary status at United.... kind of sums Mitten up... ****.

From Stoney on BBC-

Luke Shaw might not be playing but won't be leaving in Jan. He needs to get his career going again.

Mourinho's worried about Fellaini
As we said two posts down, Fellaini’s attracting interest from other clubs and Mourinho’s concerned:

Yeah (worried he won’t be here). (I have done) nothing, is a discussion between the player and the board. I’m not involved in contracts in deals, and I respect both, I respect the player because he has the right, has the right to decide his future, and I respect the board because the decisions and the discussions are under control so I just wait wishing they will have an understanding but it’s out of my control?

BAILLY AND JONES OUT
During an exclusive interview with MUTV, the boss revealed defenders Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are both ruled out of Saturday's game. Mourinho said: "Bailly and Jones - they are out, but we are okay because we have Smalling, Rojo and Lindelof."

ZLATAN AND POGBA TO CONTINUE COMEBACKS
Mourinho also provided an update on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba in his MUTV interview. He said: “We managed to give [Zlatan] 15/20 minutes in both matches, he needs more of that, so hopefully tomorrow we play him again. Paul is still on this process where he cannot reach the fatigue limit, he cannot go more than 65/70 minutes and, with so many games consecutively, we need to protect such an important player for us.”

BRIGHTON ARE DIFFICULT OPPONENTS
The boss was also keen to praise the Seagulls manager, saying: “I think Chris [Hughton] [has done] a great job since he took the team a few seasons ago and we must focus on this [match]. I know that we have a good record at home, I know that we are strong at home, but the opponent is going to be difficult for us.”

MOURINHO'S UPDATE ON ROJO
"He played very well [on Wednesday]. We have to see how he is today and there is no more injury in the frame, but fatigue, maybe he feels a little bit. But to be honest, Zlatan returned before him, Pogba returned before him, and he was in better condition than them. He didn't return before because, during the last period of his recovery, we had all our central-backs ready to play, so we didn't need to push him, we gave him more time to prepare, so when he played on Wednesday, he was ready."

Zlatan not ready to start, Mourinho says. “Step by step, match by match.”
Jones and Bailly out of tomorrow’s game

So i wasn't able to watch the match live because i was at work (however, i had it recorded). I just watched the match and i couldn't help but notice how the attacking impetus of the side left with Pogba's withdrawal. I mean, are we really that reliant on ONE player?

Apparently united are interested in Newell old Boy's 16 year old Luciano cingolani. This is what their academy director has said-
For another youngster, Luciano Cingolani, Manchester United showing interest. When communicated, they are expected to tell us the proposal they want to make. When that happens, the CD will evaluate and from that, the decision we think is necessary will be made. But I don’t want him to leave either,” Mackey told Rosario 3.

U18s Vs City
Fojticek, Laird, Williams, Barrett, O'Connor, Garner, Puigmal, Barlow, Burkart, Gomes, Chong
Subs: Tanner, Carney, Levitt, Baars, Mellor

Great game 2-1 to City after 35mins. Chong with ours. Doesn’t even look like he’s come back from a major injury. ***** Gomes just blazes over a peno. City go up the other end straight away and score 3-1. Could be 5-5 first half lol.

Second half started we’re dominating possession. Gomes lucky to stay on after head butting there defender after crunching him in a tackle. Puigmal and Chong off Levitt and Baars on.

**** it absolutely dominated City all the second half. And then they score a 4th from a corner with a free header.

finish 4-1 to City. Defo a harsh score line. Tanner and Barret the only poor performances.

Same beastly lineup. Mata in 10, Pogba pulling strings, Martial AND Rashford.

I really respect Young's dedication and the effort he puts in. But we'll never be a top team with him as LB. He can be a great cover option but honestly, he is so suspect defensively and Knockaert has the beating of him every time semingly.

I still don't understand how people reckon wingers can transition into fullbacks (yes there are exceptions, Valencia has done it decently)It's a two total different positions, with some skills that translate but a lot of others that don't.

Whilst I respect what you're saying, he's been our best player today. Your beef is with the system, not Young. Jose has instructed the wing backs to be that high & wide.

Against deep blocks, we simply need to take these risks mate.

ZzZzZzZ half. Front 3 need to move a bit more, want it to feet too much.
