The Manchester United Thread

Yup. There were a United fans who thought we would be sound with Romero if we sold De Gea to Madrid this summer.

He's the best keeper in the world, imo. He probably wins us double figure points (or very close to) per season.

His shot stopping is one of the best I've ever seen.

But yeah he is definitely no.1 gk for me and has been for a few seasons now.

Easily surpassed Neur now! And thought Lindelöf was great again tonight. A lot of fans starting to eat a huge slice of humble pie lately. His form since the from the 2 play offs against Italy till now has been top class. Showing his true Benfica form and Sweden form now.

Lindelof has looked good, but I'm not getting carried away. Just like I wasn't getting carried away by his mistakes.

Definitely looks much more comfortable in a 3 than a 2 though. Hopefully continues to settle in.

Rojo has looked like his time on the sidelines has forced Jose detox to wear off - showing signs of the rash player he was before he settled into a partnership with Jones/Jose smoothed off the rough edges. Hopefully just a sharpness thing.

Nothing seems to be going Arsenal's way today two penalties turned down and 3 goals from errors against them. Only thing in their favour was the sending off.
Koscienly should've gotten sent off instead of that yellow as Lukaku was the last man

Technically Lukaku shouldn't have been on the pitch; he should've had a red in the last match...

In any case, Koscielny's challenge was never a red, for three reasons: a) It was basically at the half-way line, so it was extremely far from goal, b) the ball was headed more towards the corner than the goal, so it wouldn't have been a straight run anyway, and c) Bellerin would've caught up easily, so it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Bonus reason d) the ref took Lukaku's current form into consideration when making the decision... :D

The sooner Mourinho tells the delusional gobshite to F-off and he'll never be his mate the better for everyone. Worst excuse for a 'journalist' EVER!

Andre Marriner presumably couldn't see that Pogba clearly took a ball that was there for him to play before making contact with a Hector Bellerin who'd put himself out of position. Red card removes Manchester United's best player from the Manchester derby. #ARSMUN

OK, De Gea played a blinder, but he didn't press and make Arsenal's backline look like they were playing their first game in pre-season, he didn't throw Koscielny around like a little rag doll before assisting Lingard, he didn't torture Arsenal's defence with silky interplay & movement, he didn't make Ramsey & Xhaka look like 14 year olds playing against an 18 year old(s), and most importantly, he didn't score the 3 goals away to the Emirates.

Yes De Gea played his bit, but we have to remember Goalkeepers ARE part of the team. He is actually paid to save. It's like saying "Pfft Messi won another 3 points for Barca" - well, he is the best in the world, of course he's going to have a big say in Barca's victories quite regularly, just like De Gea, the best in the world in his position, is going to have in ours. Our victories shouldn't be belittled just because a world class player in our team has a great individual performance, that's what he's there for, that's what we stuck by him through the rocky early year(s) for.

Feeling very proud about how De Gea has developed, and wouldn't swap him for any man between the posts.

Ducker was saying on Sunday Supp this morning how happy he is. And that last year he was allowed to leave by the club and Mourinho. But he decide to stay and is happy now with the direction the club is going. After a trophy successfull season, and the strides under Mourinho.

In other news just watching the u23s CL game versus Celtic. Gribbin and Wilson were both fantastic. Easily there best games in a Utd shirt for me. Looks like the penny has finally dropped with Gribbin upstairs. And Wilson clearly over his major injury issues, in the scoring form of his career atm. Such a natural finisher with great link up play.

Really hope Mitchell makes it here as his form bar one game has improved on last season. Kehinde looking like a very good CM in the making, very Essien like. Good to see Tuanzebe given a game also.

Another thing people forget is we took the initiative at the start of the game and went 2-0 up. It was only then that Arsenal had to throw everything at it.

Yeah/...Bellerin got into a good position as kos bought him some time by holding lukaku back initially before fouling him

Reports saying pogba could be ban extended for clapping walking of the pitch. If they can prove he was sarcastically clapping at the ref. Surely can’t prove that!

Obviously you can't prove that, but I seriously doubt anyone will believe he was clapping out of shear joy, for being sent off. If the extension of the ban is actually in discussion, he will get it no doubt.

You receive a (deserved) red card in an important game, of course you will be ******. The FA should quit being such crybabies and hand out bans for every stupid reason they can think of.
