Been **** at deliveries from set pieces for ages as well. Sanchez improved us a bit in that last season. Mata is good but not a starter really. Periera has a great dead ball but will be more a rotation option.

Until they came up against quality movement the WC in Croatia, and to a lesser extent Colombia, and looked bang average. Stones, all be it a far better footballer than Maguire, was another this summer.

Great the physical side against yard dogs early. As goes for most English CH. But the extra quality that offered something different and moved them around that level dropped massively.n
 
Just watched Mou interview on ESPN. Said won’t be signing a RB despite Valencia current injury worries. Will be signing 2 players. Happy with how his players are progressing on tour. Heaped huge praise on Dalot. Never said anything about not signing a LB when asked. Just specifically mentioned no RB.

Looks like all all those articles by the Guardian, Times, Telegraph etc that came out all at the same time were right about a CB and a RW. Would be happy with our window if that’s the case. Plus got rid of some deadwood in the process.

I now it should be not excuse, but they have still time to develop. For wingers and strikers if you are young it is easier to play and shine.
Defending positions are not that easy to cover, the awareness, muscle, commanding, experience comes in time. Lets face it that there are a lot more young players shining in forward position than defending. Ofc there are amazing young gk and defenders, but not that many.
World class example we can take is Vidic. guy was 24-25 when joining United. There was Sir in the helm, but he still elevated himself so much.
 
Sure Maguire has his flaws, but like Mike and TOD says he has a lot of strengths that we currently lack. Also people didn't watch England closely if they thought Maguire was the weak link. Just look at Croatia game, first goal all on Walker not reading Perisic coming in, second goal Stones turned off. Nothing Maguire could of done in that game to prevent the goals.

Maguire and Sandro would be great.

There is talk of us being interested in Thiago. Pull the ******* trigger on that immediately. About as good a partner/competitor/cover for Pogba as we could get.

And if we really want a wide player, I'd get Fekir

Just seen the Thiago stuff. If Beyern really want Martial I would defo try a deal there. Or like you said just pull the trigger.
 
Mourinho presser-

Bought Fred for his technical ability and quick transition.

Periera will be in the squad for the same reason this season.

Rojo might not be fit for the start of the season.

Fred, DDG, Lindelöf travelling to meet up now with squad.

Matic will play part in Milan game.

All players will be available by the third game of the season.

Valencia will not feature in the 3 remaining US games not injured but won’t be risked.

Expects players to leave and come in.
 
Watching Utd in tour atm looking at the players in bibs it’s gonna be 3 at the back.

Bojan said he spoke with some of the coaches and had been working on it in training. To give us more stability with a young side against better quality opposition.

What a goal! Great pass and vision from Mata :O Sanchez with a cool finish. Great start. Well played McTominey in the build up to.

Lol 1-1. Absolute terrible defending From Smalling not following his man. Close from Sanchez nearly catches Donna out from the corner. Started this game well. Good link up play and Periera dictating from deep. Sanchez on fire creating lots with Mata. Shaw offering good quality and width at WB. Darmian just not lol.

Great counter attack started by a lung busting run down the left who slots on Sanchez who cuts it back to Herrera who produces a good save from Donna.

Great at free kick from Mata what a save! 27 mins gone and our intensity and pressing and speed of play had been great.

Bailly and Tuanzebe look good in this back 3 Smalling looks like a teenager playing his first game. McTominey and Herrera pressing and breaking up play in CM well.

Been a good first half lots of positives. Periera, Sanchez, Mata all been very good. Special mention for Shaw who has been a beast on that left side up and down with quality at both ends. Smalling and Darmian please leave!

Yeah thinking the same regarding Martial. I hope we don’t sign Bonnucci unless we play a back 3. He’s been class on the ball but any bit of decent movement in and around him and he’s looked as good and as quick Mertasacker defensively.
