Rooney and RVP up front?
Great. Just we really didn't need him. But oh well, outscoring people will lead to great matches. 8-2 against more teams? Yes please.

According to Daniel Taylor the announcement tomorrow is about a new sponsor. Exciting stuff.

it scares me this transfer, I mean he had one season of full injury free play I don't doubt his quality but I fear that his injury history may catch up to him

While not the most needed transfer we need, still a large statement of intent. What number do you think RVP will be wearing this season guys?

Sigh. Why ? Could someone tell me why we signed Van Persie ?

While I certainly agree that RVP is a quality player.. With his injury history, age and contract situation, many Man Utd fans I know have been asking themselves why they spent a large chunk of the budget on him. Particularly as for that sort of money they could have gotten Moutinho or M'Villa players they need instead of layering an area already packed with quality with even more quality in their squad

I'll be honest.. even though RVP-Rooney is going to be a devastating partnership I am pretty happy with this transfer. Arsenal lose their best player and Man Utd spend an excessive amount of money on a player they don't really need making it less likely they will strengthen their weak areas (LB, CM)

Hearing big news today will be announcement of new sponsorship deal/partnership, more money coming into the club i suppose is good thing no dout glazers will get there hands on it before club does.

I'd have more faith in a manager like Ferguson than the United fans are (at least on here). If I remember rightly back in the 90's everyone said he was crazy and wrong when he brought in kids like beckham and giggs etc and they lost in their first match of the season (he also sold most of their top experienced players like Paul Ince etc), but look what a masterstroke that was in the end. He obviously has faith in Powell and Cleverley to at least start to cement their place in the midfield this year this year.

Can see Man Utd challenging city all the way for the title this season, as long as Fergie is still in charge.

I would assume that they might start to play a 4-3-3 again like when Utd had Rooney, Tevez and C.Ronaldo? United were frightening then.

Unfair comparison.

Your right, Fergie seemed far more crazy back in the 90's selling a lot of his top players all in one go pretty much. Rather than adding a world class striker to his team along with a few youngsters like this season. My mistake.

Something like that. Rooney, Van Persie, Kagawa. Nani and Valencia competing for the other flank, Young likely to cover Van Persie.

RVP - Rooney
Kagawa
Nani - Cleverley - Carrick - Valencia
Ferdinand - Vidic - Smalling
De Gea

Plausible lineup?

To score goals ;)

Like everyone I want a top notch CM but Rooney and RVP can get 50 goals between them and Kagawa, Chicha, Welbeck, Young, Nani 8-12 goals each AND with Vidic back then there's no reason whatsoever why we can't win the league. Europe will require a different approach but the league is the bread and butter

Agreed. Perhaps SAF is returning to the 'you score 2, we'll score 3'. At least it'll be more entertaining than the muck served up for most of last year

Still, you need someone to create some chance, or atleast hold the ball and pass it to strikers. Remember At. Bilbao ? We failed at it.
