BBC Sport - Make Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson a Lord - MPs

A campaign has kicked off at Westminster to make Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson a Lord.
Two Labour MPs from Manchester - Graham Stringer and Tony Lloyd - have tabled a Commons motion calling for the 69-year-old Scot to be awarded a peerage.
Stringer and Lloyd argue that football should be represented in the House of Lords because of its "economic, social, cultural" importance.

Ferguson led United to a record 19th league title in May.
That was the 12th Premier League crown the Red Devils had won under Ferguson, who has also captured the Champions League twice, the Cup Winners' Cup, the FA Cup five times and the League Cup on four occasions.
He also led Aberdeen to three Scottish League titles, four Scottish Cups, the Scottish League Cup and the Cup Winners' Cup.
A lifelong socialist, Ferguson was knighted in 1999 when Tony Blair was Prime Minister.

THE MOTION IN FULL
"That this House recognises the economic, social, cultural and sporting importance of football to the United Kingdom; is therefore surprised at the paucity of representatives from the world of football in the Upper House; further notes that Sir Alex Ferguson, as the manager of Aberdeen and Manchester United, is the most successful manager in the history of British football; and calls for him to be recommended for appointment to the House of Lords."

Lord Fergie lol

Dominus Alexander Chapman Ferguson CBE.

Or to put it bluntly, GOD.

What more could this great man achieve? He has made us the successful team in English football, he has won everything in the game. Lord Ferguson has a mighty ring to it.

Could you imagine Mourinho having to call him Lord Fergie in a press conference. XD

I'm a bit behind, but for some reason I thought this Varane guy signed for United a bit ago. (I've been on holiday since and forgotted all about him)

But just seen this

"I know I have the choice. I can sign for a foreign club and move abroad, or I could join another club in Ligue 1," Varane said, according to The Sun.

"What interests me is playing regularly and so I have to think carefully and go to a club that will allow me to progress."

Anybody know much about him? Will Ferguson really want another young defender (he's 18) rumours going around he would cost 9 mil or so.....

Rumor is that Madrid are interested and he has gone to see training facilities. Madrid have not made any formal bid yet.

Few reports that we are interested too, dont think we need him. Even if we sign him I think we will loan him for at least 2 seasons..

Hes saying he wants regular football, wont get that at United or Madrid really unless he gets loaned out

(anyone know anything of him?)

Yes, he wont get games at United for sure. Maybe at Madrid he may get as they dont have too many CBs like we do..

I think he will go on loan regardless of who signs him..

Hope we dont see another Pique situation..... Look how good he is now, would of been perfect at United seeing hoe Ferdinand is injury prone

Oh dont remind me of Pique and Rossi. We had so much talent back then, now they would walk into our team..

Ah Rossi too, class players. Shame they never stayed really. + I've just heard Pique is going out with Shakira, fair play to him!

he wants to sign for us and then go out on loan, so he is hping united can reach some agreement

Wenger is interested in him and was asked about him the other day - he just said he's a good player etc. - we haven't made a bid, though. I think we were going to wait a year, but I don't think we need him either. Sounds exactly like Kyle Bartley, who's free, has a winners medal in Scotland, played in the Europa League, English, and better from what I've seen of Varane (which I admit isn't a lot).
