The Manchester United Thread

Just signed 16 yr old attacking FB starlet Harry Ammas from Watford also captains Englands youth team at his age group.

Good deal for us tbh for a change!

Zidane Iqbal's move from Man United to FC Utrecht confirmed. Fee around £850k. Deal includes 40 percent sell on and a buy-back clause. Feeling at United that he isn't quite ready for the physicality of the Premier League but club not ruling out a return if he develops in Holland.

Think it's very ugly what United has done in terms of the contract situation with De Gea rescinding the offer. Very crass and unprofessional behaviour. Whatever you think of De Gea he has still been there and given 12 years of service and they could've easily waited until the summer and sat down to discuss the situation whether to extend or wish him well.

Just the same old, same old display of amateur hour and sheer incompetence from everyone involved really. No one upstairs has the balls to have the tough conversations or make the tough decisions. It’s always half measures until the situation becomes unattainable. I don’t even think letting DDG go at this point is a “tough” decision.

I’ve wanted us to move on from DDG for 2 years now. Frankly, I think he’s stayed 3 more years than he needed to. He’s been average at shot stopping this past season which has always been his one redeeming quality. For a GK whom was insanely consistent for 4-5 years straight, mistakes have become a staple in his game. For this reason, all the talk of him renewing had me scratching my head for quite a bit.

That all said, there’s so many right ways to have approached him leaving and we approached it the one wrong way. Rather than just be up front and let him know we don’t plan on renewing him, we put on this facade. Awful way to treat a club legend that has been with the club for over 10 years (also the only player with an EPL medal we currently have).

It's the glazer special. Taking way too ******* long to make a decision about anything. The sooner they're gone, the better. United need a proper footballing structure.

Like has been written by many good journos this week. There’s actually good people at the top Arnold / Murtaugh included. Just that there hands are always being tied by the ditherers/ leeches at the very top

Crazy indeed. Article if anyone has not seen

De Gea reached an agreement with United towards the end of the season, offer was on drasticaly reduced terms . De Gea accepted it, as the team were headed off to the summer break, told his teammates he would see them again come July

Club never completed the paperwork on their side, wanted to change how much they pay him and how long they want to pay him for

De Gea was subsequently informed that original contract offer was no longer relevant and, in its place, new terms were available that would mean another considerable reduction in salary. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he is not entirely happy.

Nah, dont belive the leeches has that much say or care about contract renewals. Specially if others where happy to put the extensions out.

Joel has say on everything from reading the articles and he’s super slow at signing off on anything. Also in the Athletic there saying ETH had a say in vetoing DDG contract renewal as he didn’t think he was deserving of what was offered when he won’t be garenteed No1 choice.

They infamously blocked Martial transfer because one of the brothers really liked him.
Also well known fact that the glazers (or most American owners) think of players as an assets, like a training pitch or some car, and keeping their 'high' value with long contracts keeps club value high up and makes it easier for them to create cash.

In the end, they are the one's who gave the green light for this footballing structure, so it is their fault, however you turn it.

So looking like it’s finally the end of DDG at United. And will be replaced by Onana. Defo the right move imo if we want to progress and develop further into how ETH wants us to play.

DDG has been a great servant and top top keeper for us. But he has definately regressed. And doesn’t suit our new style. Wish him all the best. It will also reduce our wage bill massively.

Onana and Mount would be a good start to the window. Next priority should be a STR. Then CM and CB will depend if anyone leaves I guess.

It was an awful way to send him off and I really hope we give him a testimonial at least. That said, I’m looking forward to not panicking when a pass lands on the feet of our guy between the sticks
