The Manchester United Thread

Xavi being mentioned.
Does he have enough experience for the job? Would his possession style play transfer to this bunch??

If he does get it. Means there righting off this season already. Did a decent job at Barca. Wasn’t a total possession style but it wouldn’t suit most of our attacking players or midfielders. Wouldn’t be against him but would expect a lot of teething problems. Amorim, Niaglesmann would be my faves. I like Franks but he’s just come out and said he wants to stay at Brentford for a long time. There’s a few other interesting ones but very inexperienced.

That was quick. Good choice!

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United working on deal to appoint Ruben Amorim as head coach. #MUFC ready to pay €10m release clause + in talks with #SportingCP to finalise. 39yo Portuguese open to accepting move. W/ @AdamCrafton_ @lauriewhitwell @TheAthleticFC

Onana
Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez
Mazaroui, Fernandes, Ugarte, Dalot
Amad, Hojlund, Garnacho

I could see us lining up 3-4-3 going from his Sporting line ups / tactics. Dalot, Fernandes players in danger in this setup.

The same Ruben Amorim who had both L’pool and West Ham walk away from him after the humongous salary demands he made this past summer?

That would be so Utd it wouldn’t be funny.

I don’t honestly care how much he wants as long as Ineos get there top target. Hes obviously a good manager for Liverpool and Barca amongst others to have wanted him last summer and to be faves to replace Pep at City.

If true why I’ve just read he’s only wanting 7m euros a year that’s less than most top club managers and puts him on about the same as ETH and Slot

Sounds like talks with Brailsford and Berrarda and Ashworth started with Amorim after the spurs loss. Vavell was there also which makes sense as he’s worked with Amorim before.

Never said he wasn’t a good manager. I like the style of his Sporting side. I suspect, like L’pool, he’s on City’s list as he’s a good young coach. But not a leading candidate as the stumbling block will be the same as with L’pool, He won’t change his style and for continuity we both aren’t built for three at the back. His playing philosophy is completely different to what we are built for.

Just saying ,regardless, he priced himself out if any talks, and then madly did the same at West Ham this summer to leave him stuck in Portugal. He even ended up having to publicly apologise for the soap opera he created . And to Sporting for flying in for talks with West Ham before one of their games.

Hopefully announcement tonight after sporting play or tomorrow. Then can start working on a few bits for Chelsea. Expect a lot of ups and downs for the rest of the season with his formation being completely alien to most of this lot.

His first 8 games. Exc Chelsea as he won’t have anytime with the squad. But there should be a massive bounce at OT for 👍🏼

Malacia to be on the bench for tomorrow match against Leicester apparently. Then Yoro possibly for Leicester in the league in two weeks.

For an even bigger bonus get rid of Rashford who has lost his way big time.
Imagine if Rashford was sold year or two ago, after his 'contract' season. And you bring in someone who's capable of passing the ball 5 yards. Or not committing on taking 2 defenders and losing the ball, just to stay still and watch their counterattack.
