Carrick been doing brilliant, though can't believe it took him 2 entire matches to clock that a Cunha/Sesko/Mbuemo front 3 doesn't work. No balance, no natural width. Cunha drifts, Sesko traditional in his ways down the middle (no rotation), and Mbeumo lacks 1v1 qualities on the touchline. Even if Amad hasn't been in the best form recently, his profile is always needed in the XI - provides balance. Works hard, lots of little decoy runs, takes on FBs, etc. - makes it easier for Cunha to drift, and the CF to be a CF. Just makes things more functional on a pitch. His decision making could improve though.
Mbeumo at RW doesn't work for me, even if he was great there for Brentford. Kinda reminds me of Griezmann, when he needed to convert from the wing to SS (Sociedad->Atletico). With Griezmann, the idea was "get him closer to goal, but don't isolate him, he's not big enough" - and I think that's kinda the same with Bryan.
For Amorim he was a narrow support forward in that horrid 343, which actually suited him. Against Arsenal and City under Carrick, it suited him being a transition/on the shoulder lone CF, but I am not sure he can play that role most weeks when their line isn't so high. Nor am I sure he can be a touchline winger at a Man Utd level club (all due respect to Brentford and the types of matches they play most weeks), with aspirations of challenging for things.
Would like to see him on the LW, narrow and close to Sesko. Only task = running, playing on the shoulder and drilling shots across goal.
Kinda similar to Raphina's role for Barca. a "correct footed winger"; but narrow, tucked in and goal-obsessed.
Otherwise, him tiring CBs as a 9 for 70 mins to allow Sesko to finish them off is also fine, but it doesn't really get the best from him.
He's our top scorer so we NEED to find a solution.
