The Manchester United Thread

Both managers did well tactically, SAF the right up to the sending off, then Jose immediately after. His movement was killer. Goal and an assist.

Yeah i was surprised as many were with Rooney being left out but was very very impressed with Utd up until the red card. As you know i hate to say good things about my team but it just goes to show how much Chelsea wanted it and how hard it would have been in that 2nd leg in Barca last season.

As I'm having technical problems with my lappy right now, I'll keep it short in case it dies again (so can't wait to get a desktop-never buying a laptop again!!).

Man Utd were excellent last night in snuffing out Ronaldo and shutting Madrid down. Yes they had a few chances but they were very few and far between. Vidic was desperately unlucky-though though the replay showed it may not have counted anyway. Saying that-it looked as if the flags would've stayed down.

Sending off? My ****. Eyes were on the ball the whole time and it was not intentional. But in a way sums up the vast difference in refereeing in England and continental Europe. It's far stricter over there-in some cases far too overly strict and are far less tolerant of these sort of things. Basically the "sending off" changed the complex and it showed the only mistake (imo) that SAF made-his reaction time in changing things was far too slow compared to Jose's. Once he went off Jose immediately took the chance with both hands. I did suspect that Madrid would've scored in the 2nd half at some point, but with 11 v 11 I doubt it would've been two. Even Jose admitted if it was 11 v 11 that Madrid would've won. Until that point though SAF had Madrid in his back pocket. But apart from the ref cockup, it was an absolutely mesmerising match to watch-really fascinating stuff. And Ronaldo showing maturity aswell by not celebrating the goal. Appears he's grown up.

As for the Rooney transfer "story". Sorry I'm not buying into that a jot. Simply because I rate the mirror the same as the mail, Sun etc. Garbage.

ronaldo is a class act just wish we could get him back and roy keane need to be shot dont know if he says thing to stir **** or not but the man has no class after everything man u did for him

Yeah this is exactly what i said too mate, think Rooney offers far more defensively. I think you done well nulling the Alonso threat but just forgot how effective Modric could be when he came on.

Michael *** of Zonal Marking made a really good point about this. Rooney offers a lot defensively, but he lacks discipline. He gets pulled all over the pitch trying to close people down. Think of how we used Oscar to pressure Pirlo in that game vs Juve, Michael is arguing that Rooney just isn't disciplined to do that sort of job.

Rooney vs Pirlo 2012 is the perfect comparison. He allowed him to pull the strings all game.

Welbeck on the other hand, near enough removed Alonso from the game. If his finishing gets up to the rest of his game he is going to be a brilliant player.

Ahh the days where Oscar's confidence was high! Absolutely bossed Pirlo in that game.

Ferguson leaves Rooney out of one game, Apparently we are selling him...
Manchester United transfers: Wayne Rooney's sale will be pursued in the summer - Mirror Online

Mirror so silly.

I think The Times and others are also running that story. If we could come up with a few millions I wouldn't mind getting him back, really... and I'm prety sure every single Everton fan that has slated him will shut up once he's back to business. That said, it's not going to happen, not in a million years :P

Day 1: ManUtd are ready to sell Rooney
Day 2: No top European club is ready to buy Rooney.

Lol, covering all the bases.

If anything it was.

Day 1: Utd ready to clash with Spanish giants Real Madrid. Rooney left out for TACTICAL reasons which nearly paid off.
Day 2: Because Rooney was left out of big game must = Fergie and Rooney rift which = Rooney to leave in the summer.
Day 3: City, Barca, Madird and PSG are all somehow favourites to sign him.
Day 4: Fergie denies any rift talk and promises he will be at Utd next season.

And people wonder why newspaper journalism will die out? Sooner the ****** better! Poisonous bastards!!!!

Papers creating a 'crisis' at United to sell papers, shock horror.
