Rooney wasn't even a CM today, dunno what everyone's banging on about. He was playing deeper than usual, but that's mostly because O'Neil and Diame had such good games and occupied his space. Moreover, he didn't play too well, partially because Kagawa and him were both trying to move into the same spot in behind Diame.

He was trying to drop into the pocket to get free, but he was having a mare regardless of what he did.

I was talking about stoke game not west ham game people!!!

Not the point if played striker or not. When he was in defense, and when he was trying to link out midfield and attack, he was slow, had poor decision making and pretty much lacking general ability to become midfield general. I really hope Sir Alex doesn't make him a CM, IMO it would be shame.

That post about rooney was 4 days ago when played CM against stoke.

In which case, we can take the West Ham game as a prime example of why not to get so overexcited about it. One game does not a Rooney deep midfielder make.

The whole idea seems like coming from someone who played a wee bit too much FM. Not that I would judge.

Rooney did not play CM against west ham he played upfront with RVP droping behind sometimes.

Right, but he was pretty dire against West Ham, and particularly in a defensive sense. One game as a central midfielder against a poor side, and all of sudden everyone's waxing lyrical about him. The West Ham game shows just one reason why everyone shouldn't be so worked up, since if you can't defend effectively from an attacking midfield position you definitely shouldn't be allowed to defend from a position which is far more important in a defensive sense.

Agree mate, was not suggesting he play in CM all the time was just judging him that one game saying he played well.

He has already dropped to the midfield during phases of play before. It was in the Champions League group phase, I believe it was the second game against Braga.

Great win for Spurs and victory against Villa league will be over mathematically.

Or, even better, you could draw against Villa and then win 2-1 over Arsenal with a last minute Van Persie winner to secure the league. ;)

Choice between Arsenal having to give RVP a guard of honour, or winning the title at their ground.. We're spoilt.

Guard of honor would be better choice. Though I want only 1-0 win as I don't want Villa go down so hopefully GD won't take battering. Win and play freely against Arsenal without any pressure..

It would be great if we can **** it and play freely without pressure. It's been so long since I saw United playing free flowing football. And then we can give few mins to Powell against Swansea and WBA.

Frankly there's very little pressure on you as it is, you almost certainly can't lose it from here. Please don't hurt us

I dont want Villa to go down, but I'd really love to win it with some swagger at Old Trafford
