This guys tweets....... apparently Chelsea offered either David Luiz or Juan Mata + £10m for Rooney.

If it was Juan Mata...... why didn't we ****** run and take it. But obviously if it was Luiz I would say reject.

Because you never accept the first offer. Especially with Chelsea involved.

Younger, better (at least form wise) and half the wages. Plus cash. Ta ra Wayne.

Good point. One things for sure, this is getting tasty indeed. But I still would rather see Rooney out of United sooner rather than later. All he has been is a bad influence and nothing but a cry baby. He moans about "United lacking ambition" > United sign RVP. Now he moans because he is second choice to RVP.... fairly as well. Just can't win, we should get as much as possible out of him and it would also give us great funds for a midfielder if we needed any more that is. Because we wouldn't really need another striker in my opinion if we're just playing the 1 up top formation. RVP, Hernandez, Welbeck, Henriquez. I'd be happy with them and a class midfield behind them.

10 mil and Mata? Snap their ******* hands off.

In one sense you would think that, sure I did at first as well. But having thought about it a little bit, where would Mata fit into our team. We have Kagawa who plays that position behind the striker, both can play central midfield as well but it's certainly not a strong position and I don't think we would want to rely on them there. I just can't see how Mata would fit with us at United having a bit more thought about it.

Mata's better than Kagawa, and a different player anyway. Kagawa's a lot more direct, and probably fits United better on the left wing than he does in the centre. Mata's arguably the best proper playmaker in the entire world, only 25 years old, at his peak and playing fantastically. You can't pass up these opportunities.

Can imagine Kagawa and Mata having amazing link up play together, both drifting between the centre and left wing. Add in Nani on the right and we've got a very fluid 3 behind RVP with Mata pulling the strings.

I've never been a fan of Kagawa on the wings, much prefer him behind the striker, personal opinion obviously. The key words in all of these quotes which people seem to be missing is Mata OR Luiz.... if it was Luiz I'd certainly of knocked it back.

Did you not see him play for Japan?

If its mata ****** **** chelsea fans are gonna regret having the special one back lol .I would love it if they offer 15+ Mata.I say sell rooney + we save hugely on the wages also.

Kagawa's played on the left wing 8 times, compared to playing in the centre 13 times. Yet in the former position he's scored or assisted 7 goals, compared to 5 in the latter. He's much more suited, in United's interpretation of the 4-2-3-1 anyway, to the wing, I'd say.

Man Utd would have had the choice of Mata or Luiz, not that only one of them was offered.

Would be a fantastic deal if Mata was included in the deal

As much as i love Mourinho, can't help but feel he is completely off his head trying to offload arguably one of the best players in the world in his position

I would definitely take 15m + Mata for Rooney. We would have an extra 15m to spend on players + a playmaker that we need all for a Striker who hasn't been in form for the past 15 months or so.

To play Devil's Advocate, though...

Mike and I were discussing earlier how it's almost a dead cert that Mourinho will work his magic and get Rooney playing at top level again, and Rooney at top level is probably the third or fourth best player in the entire world. Moreover, Rooney is now indelibly associated with United. Are you really willing to take this risk?

The question is whether he'll reach that level at United, or if he'll even want to. With his form, and especially the way he's been acting, I'd happily take Mata + £15m. I'd rather not see him move to another English club, but I think receiving a player of Mata's calibre in return is the only acceptable way.

When in doubt - WWSAFD (what would SAF do?). And with the way Wayne has been acting lately, I think we know there's only one answer.

It's not just a question of that, it's a question of denying Chelsea his quality too.

Panic and offer him a new contract?
