The Manchester United Thread

I came on the forum exactly to mention this but you beat me to it! The Guardian is not a tabloid and generally carries much more weight/clout. Anyway it what Ive been saying for some time!

Nice article at Football365 btw:

Actually, Winning Isn't Everything... | F365 Says

Actually the Guardian has been acting like one in parts tbf but Jackson wouldn't have run it if he didn't thin what he'd been told has merit (iirc he is also a United fan). That said, this sounds a lot like players with excuses, because very few have been playing at anywhere near acceptable levels regardless of who is in charge.

Is there any concrete sources on any rumour for a midfield player? I've heard so many names go round it's like a ****** lottery. Vidal, Marchisio, Pjanic, Alonso (before he signed contract), Lallana, William Carvalho, Matic, Cabaye, Herrera, Koke, Sneijder. even ****** Pogba.

Other teams fans must be laughing their head off but honestly this shizz is depressing right now. I ****** have no idea whether we are in for any of them but is it all just a load of names with no actual credible source to any of them or what??

oh, btw, this is heat map of our attacks. United is very one-dimensional this season.
The first one is what we looked like in 2010/11. This is what you get when you are devoid of creativity and your 3 key central players are not all fit (Rooney RVP Carrick)

I think the only concrete link has been with Conterao? Tbh you could do worse than challenge Chelsea for Guarin ... Apparently the deal is stalled due to his wage demands although it could also be because Chelsea are hoping for Matic. An ideal window for United to swoop in and complete a deal

Keep both Matic and Guarin at Chelsea. They are hardly upgrade. One is lesser version of Carrick, other is consistent as bingo numbers.

Roma want 30m Euros for Pjanic, apparently ourselves and a other team have offered 20m euros. Think its PSG

Wayne Rooney faces a late fitness test for the game vs. Swansea. Phil Jones and Robin Van Persie also battling to return on the same day, according to PhysioRoom. Jonny Evans with Rio Ferdinand, who is not expected back until 19th January, means that we'll have to field Vidic and Smalling in at centre half. The good news that Rafael is back puts him at right back. Evra at left back.

So perhaps:

De Gea

Rafael - Smalling - Vidic - Evra

Carrick - Cleverley/Giggs

Young - Rooney - Kagawa/Januzaj

Welbeck

---

Jones and Van Persie on the bench perhaps. I don't know.

If Cleverley plays again.. god help us.

True but thats bound to be due to a number of reasons (some of which are Moyes' fault) as I previously highlighted on this here thread:

1. When you ve done nothing in terms of trophies etc can you really impose yourself on spoilt players (most modern players ARE spoilt) who are serious winners?
2. Will these players ever respect/fear you.
3. Also isnt it up to the manager to motivate players to play to their abilities and beyond?

The problems are snowballing and he is showing neither the personality/psychology to deal with it (see the footy465 article) nor any other indication that he can turn things around with time.

I live in Cyprus and believe me the OLYMPIACOS players and supporters are all up for it and believe they will dump us out of the CL which would be the last straw for me (and shows the **** we are in currently) ...

I think the article is well off actually because he is having things compounded by injuries as well. also I raise the same criticism of the players as I did when it was Chelsea having issues. If they cant raise themselves for the club and fans, how driven are these players? Not enough stepping up like fletcher, and he's been crocked!
