The Manchester United Thread

Ok even if not Cabaye, why can't we get Rakitic from Sevilla, he's a player who has great vision, an eye for a pass and great hair. We really should get someone in this window, for me both of those are viable options if we can be bothered to do it. If we were willing to spend a bit more perhaps Pjanic. But it would give the whole club a boost and not to mention a midfielder who would actually be able to play smart creative passes forward.

Rakitic is close to signing an extension with Sevilla. He's said before that he is content to stay in Seville, his family is comfortable there.

Hern?ndez probably looked the most comfortable I've seen him all season, coming off the bench. That's not a knock on him, for most other clubs he would start, but he really improved when he entered.

I had 2 worries going into the game today, when Rooney and RVP were ruled out i wasn't that much more confident because our two thorns in recent times have been Valencia and Hernandez. And when Jose said on Friday that Ivanovic wouldn't start so Valencia up against Cole again did make me nervous. But soon as i saw the teamsheet and saw that Brana was playing so Azpi could go to left back and Hernandez wasn't starting i was very confident. I know the Utd fans who are backing Moyes are correct 100% but he made 1 major **** up today in not starting Hernandez.

Despite the form Welbeck has been in I was still delighted to see his name in utds line up ahead of the little ****** as I like to call him :p

I think Hern?ndez not starting was a good decision. An extra attacking threat off the bench after an hour is something he does so well. Nevertheless the way we played during the first half was exceptional, so occasions like that are perfect for him to join in.

It meant he wouldn't be isolated up front again whilst Welbeck drops off, which has happened more often than not this season when he's started.

Whenever Hernandez comes on and plays like he did today, I think a lot of us think he should be starting more. But then when he does start, he usually has way less impact. Frankly I don't think Moyes did a lot wrong today tactically. You took the chances that came your way, we didn't. You were organised and disciplined, our defending was shocking for all 3 goals.

For me Welbeck could have worked from the left, Young was woeful today. Welbeck out left with Hernandez upfront.

Or Januzaj left and Kagawa behind Welbeck.

Welbeck droppping off and pressing worked well for the most part, and Januzaj was always our most dangerous player in a different role to usual. If you were going to be so passive though, Kagawa could have provided a bit more threat, and it'd have been up to Luiz to be disciplined and not give him any space.

Have a gut feeling the stress levels of Utd fans will go through the roof in the final hours of the window

Not really, don't really think we will actually sign anyone. We only need 3 more points to reach the 40 point mark thus avoiding relegation (H). And we are well on course to finish in the top half of the table so I don't think any signings are needed.

Yep Januzaj had a good game. Gave Ivanovic problems all day ... Kids got a great career ahead of him

why would he leave Newcastle though and go to Man Utd? Newcastle are only 1 point behind Utd, Fellaini has had a torrid time since his switch. There's absolutely no guarantee Cabaye would want to go to Man Utd tbh when there's going to be so many other offers, namely Arsenal who right now are in a much stronger position

This is exactly what I said and I got flamed ... Absolutely no point for Cabaye to move now because Newcastle have a great chance of finishing ahead of Manchester United. It's better for him to go in the summer where he can properly evaluate his options and choose the best one. Not like Newcastle will sell him anyways, especially to a club once place above them ...

Unfortunately there are still some delusional fans here. Cabaye doesn't need to leave immediately if we bid for him. He can stay at Newcastle, continue to impress and then he will have quite a few clubs vying for his signature during summer. The likes of PSG, Man Utd, Arsenal etc were interested in him and will still be interested in him. United wouldn't sign anyone better than him this transfer window, and they won't sign anyone better than him during the summer as well unless something miraculous happened.

Wait, what? I agree with your call in the January window, but in the summer too, seriously?

I'm not sure if you didn't get the memo, ManUtd finishing outside top 4 means the end of the club. Even the players like Cabaye are out of reach and we have to start competing with likes of Newcastle for Europa league spots.

That was the biggest mistake IMO. Kagawa behind the striker and Januzaj on LW worked so well and Swansea couldn't cope with them. Not because of lack of quality in Swansea team but because Kagawa took so many intelligent positions, it was hard to track him.

We played some very good stuff in the first half and in bits here and there, what was missing was willing runners into the box. We lacked that big time.

Lol, yeah, apparently so. I get the sarcasm;; Still, pretty unbelievable. Why people are already spelling the doom for us is still beyond me. 1 bad season, and it's being sounded like we can't get top players anymore, et all.

You may actually be all wrong. Strong noises in Portugal since he left Chelski culminating in Mou's last season at Real were saying he really wanted the UTD position. He felt he's done it all won the CL, the league in two different countries the only thing left was longevity at a big club with a culture of patience so that he has the chance to leave a legacy and compare to SAF and then to end his career as the manager of Portugal. He was even rumoured to be very disappointed and shocked (arrogant ****** that he is) that he wasnt even considered.

Yeah not disagreeing with that. My main point was that we don't know if he intented to take it or not, but for sure he wanted to be considered for it ( and be the first choice ).

To be fair, someone like Cabaybe very well maybe especially if the likes of PSG and Arsenal show concrete interest. PSG at least can pay higher transfer fee and wages than United if we follow your maxim of money being the sole motivator in any move along with the prospect of guarenteed CL football

PSG can do lot better than Cabaye and he isn't even improvement on what they have. If PSG targets likes of Cabaye with the players they have and cash they have then they are doing something wrong big time.

Re bold part just don't bother. If you really want to act stupid and pick up one more fight then just don't even bother to quote me. Show me where I have said money is the only factor in the move? I said it's the biggest factor and its a well know fact. Don't try to put a pathetic spin on what I said.

Also re Arsenal, I'm sure many players left Arsenal when they were in CL to the non CL clubs.

Regardless of whether PSG can do better or not, if they target Cabaye which reports in France have indicated, it would be much harder for you lot

Also whether it's sole motivator or biggest factor, my point still stands. They can offer competitive wages and transfer fees to anything you can offer along with the prospect of guarenteed CL football for whatever that counts

I honestly have no intention of picking a fight, you are the one who is always so aggressive all the time
