The Manchester United Thread

do any of you united fans think you spent too much on Berbatov? as imo he isn't worth 30 M

He had the talent to be worth 30million, and has been part of 2 league winning sides in what 3 seasons. So yeah, I am happy we signed Berba,

1) He scored 20 league goals
2) He scored some crucial goals this season
3) He made crucial assists all the way through his OT career
4) Hatrick V liverpool <3

He was on another level when he played at Tottenham, loved watching him play but as soon as United signed him, he seemed to stop playing and started relying on the other players too much. Shame really, if he'd have stayed at Tottenham he would have had a better career, and United could have spent that £30m on another, maybe a couple of younger players. But that happens a lot in football, massive signings that flop, Torres, Shevchenko, Robinho, to name but a few.

I think the Retirement of Paul Scholes has come just at the right time. Scholes,Gary Neville,Giggs and other members of the CLASS OF 92 will now be involved in what Brian Kidd did at that time. It is the building process of United's next generation and there is no one better than the people who know what Manchester United is all about. I think all these people especially Scholes would be a fantastic coach because he would know exact qualities to look in a young player. This is the only reason why United have an Advantage over all their Rivals; We have our ex-players in backroom staff and that helps the club in long run. I think we should not be surprised if we see a batch of youngsters in 4 or 5 years who have trained under all these Legends!

Michael Owen's contract has been extended for a further year, in a deal that will see the forward complete a third season as a first-team player.
Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Michael has proved to be a top footballer. It’s unfortunate Michael didn’t get more opportunities but the form of Chicharito put everyone in the shade and his partnership with Rooney proved invaluable. I am delighted Michael is staying for a further year and we will look to give him more opportunities in the new season.”

Michael Owen said:
“I’m delighted to have agreed a one-year extension to my contract. To play alongside so many great players, under an exceptional manager, and in front of so many incredibly passionate supporters, is a real inspiration. I can’t wait for next season to start."

From redcafe:

someone should show this to Joss, maybe he might tone down on the 'Hate Barca' Crusade

I am actually suprised by that, i thought his time was up tbh.

Could do anything form switch the TV channels; Sky sports, MUTV etc, to ordering more drinks that were bought through within seconds of tapping them in on the screen.

Owen stays for another year, meaning that I doubt we'll sign another striker. If anything - Berbatov or Macheda won't be at Old Trafford in the new season (Berba permanent or Macheda loan)

"I will stay," Berbatov told Bulgarian television. "I will fight for the 20th title.

"If I were an easy quitter, I would never have made it this far. Everything at Manchester United starts from scratch for me on July 4.

"There will be new finals and we will be fighting for new titles. I am moving ahead. When you go through difficult times, you should not quit.

"The truth is that I stayed at the dressing room and watched the Champions League final there, on a TV screen.

"I was really disappointed. I was ashamed that I was not part of the team and did not want people to see how sad I feel."

Top professional. BerbaKing is staying..

Bulgarian football star Dimitar Berbatov has made it clear he is unlikely to quit Manchester United despite his exclusion from the Champions League final squad.

"I will stay. I will fight for the 20th title. If I were an easy quitter, I would never have made it this far. Everything at Manchester United starts from scratch for me on July 4," Berbatov said in an interview for 24 Hours daily.

"I want to apologize to everyone for not taking part in the final. I hoped to make the whole of Bulgaria happy with my play. This did not happen and I can only say I am sorry for myself and for the Bulgarians, who expected to see me," Berbatov told bTV private channel.

"There will be new finals and we will be fighting for new titles. I am moving ahead. When you go through difficult times, you should not quit," he said.

The Bulgarian international did not hide he is still licking his wounds after being left out of Manchester United's Champions League final squad.

"The truth is that I stayed at the dressing room and watched the Champions League final there, on a TV screen. I was really disappointed. I was ashamed that I was not part of the team and did not want people to see how sad I feel," Berbatov

As Manchester United's season came to an end, rumors have claimed that Dimitar Berbatov's time at Old Trafford was nearing an end.

Premiership club Newcastle, German squad Borusia Dortmund, Juventus, Roma, Bayern Munich and his former club Tottenham are said to be ready to offer the 30-year-old an escape route from his current tough situation in the team, even though he has stated on multiple occasion he wants to end his career at Old Trafford.

He hasn't flopped oO)

As opposed to how good he was playing at Tottenham, he has.

Myth. If the Parker had produced the same performance for the big team no one would have said he had great season or voted as player of the year.

As opposed to how good he was playing at Tottenham, he has.
He has a better record in the league for us than he did for them. (41 in 96 for United, 27 in 70 for Spurs).
To call him a flop and compare him to shevchenko is a bit much. He was Premier league top scorer.

Lee Sharpe

“A few of us including Robbo, are watching the Youth team and we ask the boss which ones are staying, going etc. etc. So he points to them one by one, “he’s staying” he’s going.”

Robbo says, “What about the little Ginger lad?” fergie - “Well, we’re not sure. He’s got loads of ability, but he’s not the quickest, and we’re not sure if he’s a striker or a midfielder. he can’t tackle either. We’ll most likely let him go.”

2 minutes later, Scholes runs from a deep position exposing the two centre halves, goes through both with a shimmy and dummy, feints to shoot past the keeper, who then commits himself, and gets beaten by chip over a flailing hand.

Robbo turns to the boss and says, “you don’t know ******* much about players, do you boss?”.

XD

Wayne Rooney: Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not. I'm delighted with the result.
