Rafael will be out for about 10 weeks after dislocating his shoulder in training last week. Anyone think SAF may go out a buy another full back now?

My apologies, then. I've seen/read too many stupid things in the last few days, and it has clouded my judgement.

No worries.

Left it late as usual today, good win though. Young was impressive, but it annoys me how people are critising De Gea once again 2 matches into his Utd Career.

I think SAF is content to use Evans as a LB and Jones/Smalling as RB's.

@stewartgardner - Just spoke to SAF. Expects Rio to be out for 6 weeks with hamstring, Rafa 10 weeks. Not sure about vidic. Evra fit next week.#mufc #mutv

Good that we have good enough CBs.. Jones signing now looks very important.

Evans Jones Smalling, Fabio, Evra, are our only fit defenders now..

Vidic they reckon will be back in a couple of weeks. Evra back next week.

Pretty amazing how quickly Ashley Young has settled in at United, looks like he's been playing for them for years.

Gibson for once can be very useful for us. De Gea can ask him to shoot from distance in training sessions :P

Smalling at RB it is then. Oh how we could do with oh, i dont know Fergie, a utility man who didnt mind not being a regular, hmmm, let me think, someone with experience, professionalism, and the ability to play in a number of positions? Oh no wait you kicked John O'Shea out the door....

Smalling Rio Vidic Fabio with an inexperienced albeit talented goalkeeper who doesnt yet speak good english behind them instills far less confidence than if O'shea were one of those full backs.

I'm sure we have enough attacking talent to win the game, but i will be very surprised if we keep a clean sheet.

Bow down to my great prediction abilities.

Seriously though. We are crying out for John O'shea now that Rio and possibly Vidic are out for significant periods.

My exact feelings but even O'Shea is injured atm.. :P

I didn't mind seeing Brown go as he was below Evans in the pecking order, but couldn't believe we let O'Shea go. Superb squad player.

Apparently De Gea is a flop already oO)

just saw that in twitter. looks BS.

might be to early to judge him, but ffs, he's 20, and he still learning. give him more time.

but yes, he should (coluld) have done better to stop Long's shot.

mirror sport WANKERS de gea will be quality when settles in and learns the lingo schemichel was same when he first joined ended up turnin into best keeper world has ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why it's so important that Man Utd have SAF at the club. Like other realistic Man Utd fans, he'll just say the same thing. Ignore the press-they're full of ****. Mirror don't know what they're talking about half the ****** time. Just like to pummel players who make mistakes just because they play for the biggest club in the country

The Mirror is by far my most hated paper. I don't remember ever seeing them write anything remotely intelligent.

Anderson and Cleverley have United on right track
One of the main themes of discussion over the off-season, in the wake of Manchester United's defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League final, has been how United can close the gap to Pep Guardiola's side. According to some, it is the final challenge of Sir Alex Ferguson's career.

United were certainly taught a footballing lesson at Wembley in May, but it is important to point out that 'closing the gap' is not necessarily the same as replicating Barcelona's style of football. Attempting to ape the style of Barcelona is likely to play into their hands. When Guardiola's side are finally knocked off their perch, it will probably be by a side using a tactic that defeats tiki-taka, rather than an imitation of it. Their most notable loss, to Inter in the 2009-10 Champions League semi-final, was to a side that didn't even attempt to retain the ball by the second leg.

That said, ball retention is something Ferguson feels United need to improve on, and the statistics from the 2-1 win over West Brom indicate that things are on the right track. Anderson completed 55 of his attempted 57 passes throughout the game, while his central midfield colleague Tom Cleverley finished with 58 from 64, giving an impressive combined completion rate of 93%. By way of contrast, in United's previous trip to The Hawthorns on New Year's Day, also a 2-1 United win, Anderson's figure was down at 76%, demonstrating a marked improvement.

But that would mean Gibson having to get them on target ;) get Hitzslesperger in on the training session, Tommy to show Gibson how hit the target and have De Gea brushing up the long range saves ;)

On a serious not Young looks like he will fit in well. Great knock from Rooney onto Young on the wing

We can throw as much **** as possible, but Gibson shooting from distance is really good ;)
