The Manchester United Thread

Whenever I read something to do with an "insider", it always reminds me off this.

This is brilliant, I've never liked Martin Lipton anyway but he's been made to look very silly. I'm sure MUTV have a show about what's in the press, maybe it'll be a good idea to get this Rob bloke in to ask why he enjoys writing such bollocks about us.

Unbelievable...

Scholes rejoins United

Paul Scholes has rejoined the playing staff at Manchester United for the remainder of the season with immediate effect, after approaching Sir Alex Ferguson to reverse his decision, made at the end of last season, to retire.

He has gone straight onto the bench for this afternoon’s FA Cup third round tie against Manchester City.

Sadly, The Guardian is divided right down the middle when it comes to Football: on one side cheap sensationalists, petty idiots and ignorant pundits, on the other passionate quality journalism. Smyth is a weird one, mainly because of his occasional appearance on Football Weekly which would suggest he's alright (the vast majority of The Guardian's good football writers feature regularly on the show) but in general he tends to spew out the same **** as Richard Williams, Louise Taylor etc

Unless its Sid Lowe and Occasionally Daniel Taylor its usually a load of *****. Richards Williams is the worst though. How is he actually a journalist?

Some people are laughing about Utd resigning Scholes which I have no idea why. He still posseses a lot of talent for his age and will be a good squad player for the rest of the season no doubt.

Ferguson said he doesn't want any "Sticking-Plasters"

Well Alex, what do you call this?

Probably the best we could do ATM, would still like to see him go in for Eriksen though.

Scholes you tank.

Calling the 88th minute winner from the ginger ninja right now.

Bandini and Honigstein are pretty good too. Auclaire careens wildly between insightful and blindly dogmatic. Amy Lawrence is ok, David Pleat is alright sometimes. Barney Ronay doesn't actually seem to know much about football but he's a good writer and most of his pieces suit that. Fifield (Chelsea correspondent) is alright but often falls back on lazy stereotypes in place of real journalism.

tl;dr most of the Football Weekly crowd are alright, most of the others are a bit dodgy and a couple are dire.

-edit-
Don't get me started on Richard Williams...

Beckham at the match today. Wonder if he brought his boots too lol

Need a bad move from United to bring back Scholes given the options they have at the moment, but it smacks of desperation.

Well, Rooney was reported to say he'd not stick around unless Fergie signed quality players... This is Fergie putting two fingers up at the bald git.

Bandini and Hoingstein need to write more, much better than the others

****** ****. City's GK is 6ft 8 oO)

yeah, Pantilimon is one of the tallest football players in professional ranks, along with Oyvind Hoas and a couple of others

Brilliant goal by Rooney, although he may not have realised he scored!

I thought he was the player most likely to score for United, he's just got that goalscorer's instinct and touch - he showed it there with that superb header.

It was really a goal out of nowhere!

Wow, what a start. Kompany off too, key man.

Seen three replays, but it's not a red. It's a yellow.

I'm stunned he's off. was a very low challenge
