The Manchester United Thread

Someone want to try and explain it to simpletons?
Like is this going to be good for us, or bad.

Hey guys what do you think the chances of us signing RVP? I read that we are interested in him on the gossip page of the BBC, obviously i know that it probably just be that, gossip. But do you think he could do a good job for us and would any of you want to the see him in the united shirt?

Read on other forum that "according to twitter rumors, Baines to United will be completed tomorrow and the fee is 9 Million".

I'm not sure how reliable these sources are but if the fee is 9 million then it will be a great signing for us.

Hope this is true 9m would be absolute bargain but would most prob be more with adons and stuff but even so:D. Would not supprise me if true coz fergie likes to get it done early and then he can come on tour with us.

NEVER. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.

But not really that fussed about him in United shirt, not what we need anyway. Extra wages on a player we don't need, when we have other priorities

Ok, Rooney, Welbz, Chicharito and we should see what will happen to Berbatov. Why would we need another striker ? Even if he's good as RVP is.
If that 9m rumor for Baines is true, then I don't know, I'll jump off the bridge. That would be amazing. But I think it will be 15-16m.
Lucas Moura ? Please no. I'm tiered of attack minded Brazilians in EPL.

Lucas Moura, I swear he was linked to Chelsea not so long ago think it was about February time. Think it is just total fabrication.

Hopefully Fergie is looking at Moutinho and Baines.

Read somewhere that his father actually came to old trafford for a tour and to speak to fergerson, and scouts have been to watch him aswell especially chief scout lawlor, but would cost to much and would rather have moutinho even tho would cost about same.

Moura doesn't even fit anywhere, unless someone's leaving.

New faces primed for tour

The Reds' new faces will get a proper taste of life at Manchester United during the DHL tour this summer.

Close-season acquisitions Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell will integrate with their new team-mates and several promising youngsters will also form part of the squad as fans in South Africa, China and Scandinavia get the opportunity to demonstrate the worldwide appeal of the 19-times champions.

Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested he is close to finalising his plans for the squad in preparation for the new campaign with Durban the first stop on the global tour. Of course, when the official party is announced, ManUtd.com will break the news.

"It’ll be important for Shinji Kagawa, who will be coming on his first tour with us," the boss told MUTV. "He’ll get to know players like Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand – the experienced players in the camp. It’ll be important for the boy to get settled in.

"The issue is getting to know the players and getting to mix them. They’ll eat together for nearly two weeks and it’s an important time. Shinji doesn’t speak English so he’ll have his interpreter with him and hopefully, by the time he comes back, he’ll speak good Scottish!

"Of course, we have Nick Powell as well who is 18 so it’ll be a great step up for the boy. We’ll take a few of the young players too - potentially including the likes of Tyler Blackett, Larnell Cole, Jesse Lingard and Michael Keane.

"[Michael Keane's brother] Will has, of course, got a bad injury and will be out for almost a year which is a blow for the boy

"But we’ll take a good collection of the young players who are emerging through the ranks."

Blackett signed a professional contract this week after becoming a permanent fixture in the Academy side last season, playing either at left-back or the centre of defence. Cole and Lingard were key performers for Warren Joyce's successful Reserves side in wide midfield roles and were both shortlisted for the Player of the Year prize at that level.

Michael Keane is currently with the England Under-19 squad in Estonia, competing in the European Championship, but could be available later in the month. The centre-back has made startling progress at the club and made his first-team debut at Aldershot in last year's Carling Cup tie..

Tour chance for teenagers - Official Manchester United Website

People saying no to Moura, smh. He's going to be a phenomenal player and I'd prefer that to happen here than at Chelsea or Madrid. He can play down the wings or as an attacking midfielder, so there's space for him especially if Nani is sold. Obviously it's not a priority but come on, it's not every day you get a chance to sign one of the best teenagers in football...I'd be delighted if we got him.

Baines for £9M, I'd be happy with that too.

Not really a chance to sign him, the club he is with would want big money for him, looking at over £20 million at the very least and to be honest I hope Nani does not leave, if he is not being demanding over wages, because he is a good player.

I don't think we need Moura and we should concentrate on what we do need right now, which is a Left Back, versatile CM (someone like Lars Bender would be good) and then a creative CM, someone like Moutinho or Modric.

United obviously feel like there's a chance to get him if they're sending a load of representatives over to Brazil. I hope we don't sell Nani either but he's lowered his demands twice already, unfortunately it doesn't seem like United are too keen on keeping him. If he does go, that leaves us with two reliable wingers who are both likely to get injured at some point with our luck. Cleverley can play well out wide but we can't rely on him to be fit, so that would leave Park (who I'm hoping is sold, or given to Everton for Baines) and Giggs.

We're not desperate for a left-back, it will be great to have some competition for Paddy but I wouldn't say we need to pay for a new left-back, if Fryers was promised more game time he wouldn't hesitate to sign a new deal.

We've just signed Kagawa, so the priority is to sign a midfielder that's defensively sound rather than a creative one. Bender would be great, Moutinho is all-round solid midfielder so he'd be even better, but Modric isn't needed & is way over-priced.

I think moutinho is most likely, then if we can get baines cheapish that would be bonus, read that fergie has not heard anything from fryers or agent and expects him back for dhl tour and negotiations, and on moura if we can get for right price think we should make a move! Think nani will sign contract in next couple of weeks as he has said in many interviews he does not want to leave! and fergie should do what he can to make sure he does stay we dont want to loose our most creative player.

Source for this? Modric would be one creative CM out of the two, providing we play a 4-2-3-1 if he was signed, which I assume we are playing a 4-2-3-1 next season as we bought Kagawa.

Modric is relatively defensively sound. The aim has never been to have one purely defensive, or pretty defensive play, they always work in tandem. Two positionally adept players, preferably with the ability to play from deep. Sounds exactly like Modric, alongside Carrick. This has been our midfield shape and style for a very long time.
And people shaking their head at Moura are right. Why in gods in name spend a truckload of money on a player we dont really need.

Also that was in the Mirror, that Lawlor was sent to do a deal. Which is bollocks, as that isnt what he does. At best, if there is even a shred or credibility in this he will be scouting, not trying to get a any kind of deal done. Modric is far more of a fit and and priority that Moura is.

Mike who would you prefer modric or moutinho and what would be the pros for your choice, and what is your opinion on fryers/nani?

It comes down to cost really. Moutinho is the slightly worse player (although thats not saying much being slightly worse than a world class modric), but he's more complete. So honestly probably down to whoever was cheaper of the two.

Nani. give him a 5 year 90k contract, with bonuses taking it to 95k. Thats Vidic money. If thats not good enough, sell him.

Fryers. Get your head from out your **** and sign, or do one.

Yeah agree about modric/moutinho would both be great next to carrick i would personally go for the cheaper of the 2. I think nani has got to be worth around that wage he should be happy with that! And i dont get whats going on with the youngsters at united greed, agent, game time?
