Well, I think the best way to describe Moutinho is to compare him as mobile Carrick. Tho he hasn't have his passing range, his positioning is really good. He might be the player we need.
Pretty much this, mobile, more aggressive Carrick.

Do you think Martinez would be a good purchase for United? Destroyer attributes and versatile. Not to mention young and might cost just a tad more than Moutinho. Plus with Biesla's reported resignation today, might be willing to make the move
Pair Carrick - Moutinho would allow more freedom for Kagawa, Nani and Valencia ( or some other winger). Could be really good addition. And if we need another body in the box, then Moutinho can do that also. Good all-round footballer. Kinda reminds me on Meireless.
I'm a huge fan of Martinez, but he wouldnt have the same threat as Modric or Moutinho, but would free up Carrick. Make us hard to break down, and he is a decent mover of the ball.
Yep, no doubt a better player.A more upgraded version of Meirless lol... Although Meirless is more versatile I think as he can even play as a No. 10 if required making him a handy player to have in the squad. Jack of all Traded, Master of None

Only problem with Martinez really is he would cost quite a lot and his passing range is not as good as Moutinho/Modric so I would always sway towards them first personally.
Not sure why you seem to be comparing Modric and Martinez. Completely different players. To put it simply, Martinez is a destroyer and Modric is a regista. Two should not be compared
I am comparing them based on the fact United will only sign one this summer, so I would rather have Modric/Moutinho over Martinez.
Really? Did SAF ever say he was only going to sign one CM? Source?
None of you want Cabaye then?
My inside knowledgelol
No but seriously, Fergie has Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher (possibly), Anderson, Cleverley, Jones (if need be).
It will only be one, I assume he won't go with what he has already as we need some more quality, we have Carrick as a certain starter, I would hope he looks as Scholes to be more of a back-seat role this season with Anderson and Cleverley rotational options, Jones should be focussing more on his defensive positions this season.
I was comparing Martinez/Moutinho/Modric due to passing ability, I think we need to sign someone who has a good passing range and is decent at tackling and doing some of the 'nitty gritty stuff in the middle of the park.
Therefore I would have Moutinho as first choice to sign (as he has good passing range and will be able to supply the attack as well as offering defensive capabilities and good tackling etc). Then Modric and if we can not get either of them then maybe look at Martinez, although I would look at Strootman before him.
Pretty much all of the names being mentioned on here are way out of our price range......Martinez, Modric, possibly even Moutinho......not trying to start any arguments, just find it a bit annoying lol!

No. We made a bid of 32 Million pounds for Hazard, that means we can afford to pay that much for Martinez or Modric. It's not about out of our price range, it's about how interested are players moving to ManUtd and wages. Modric is all but done to Madrid and Martinez showed no signs of leaving Spain. We have realistic chance of signing Moutinho, but I don't thing we will.
