Modric and Alonso are different players though, if anything Sahin as Alonso's replacement makes more sense.

But don't Madrid play with a double pivot. Surely then Sahin will still be frozen out as a Modric/Khedira partnership would be the preferred one.

We have Powell to come through in the next few years too. Fergie knows what he's doing, and we did after all only lose the title on GD after losing Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley from the midfield for basically the whole season.

But we were also lucky Carrick didnt sustain any major injuries.

Modric will rotate between deep and AMC i think

Anderson breaks down a lot. He was fully ready last season start, still broke down. Questionable reliability. Ability isnt an issue, fitness, consistency and attitude were the issues.

Yeah, but going by his interview he sounded as if everything is behind and he is fit to play. It's a gamble but is payed off then a very good one.

Ofc. Evra too. You'd have to wonder which God we ****** off if Carrick got injured in addition to all the others we lost though.

They play lot of games and they can be rotated easily. Madrid do have hopes on him otherwise instead of loaning they would have sold him.

The same way they kept loaning Pedro Leon/Canales until they sold them?

Huge gamble given the last 5 years, and the fact that all other rivals are strengthening their weak areas and we are not.

Did any one wanted to buy them? For Sahin there are number of takers.

Also Martinez to Bayern is done deal. 40 Million Euros.

Chelsea wanted to buy Pedro Leon last January. Pretty sure Villareal wanted Canales. Both are very talented players, not on the level of Sahin but talented enough that they would have had a host of European clubs willing to take them

eh? But Madrid have Kaka/Ozil for that AMC spot. That is assuming that don't find a way to get rid of Kaka by this window

Granero also prefers amc i guess and he would prefer more playing time now.

Not sure about it, City haven't strengthened at all. Maybe they will sign few players to improve first team but as of now they haven't.

We have Vidic back, Kagawa and maybe RVP too. If Anderson and Cleverley can remain injury free then we won't have a situation where we have to play Park Rafael as CMs. So in a way our squad is better than last season but a huge gap in LB position though, I mean back up.

Other than Central defense depth, I don't think City really have any weak areas tbh

City signed Rodwell. And that means we are still relying on an injury hit CM not to pick up injuries.

Not sure about Perdo Leon as never read anything about making bid and all that.

Also Canales was on loan at Valencia and then was injured for 6 months. They had option to buy and they exercised it.
