The Manchester United Thread

MAY be some good news for Utd. Fellaini isn't totally guaranteed to start today due to a past hip injury so who knows if he'll start or not-but DM has said it's healing and MAY be healed enough for him to start today. Be waiting for the team lineups anxiously

De Gea, Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Jones, Cleverley, Giggs, Rooney, van Persie

Howard, Jagielka, Baines, Neville, Distin, Gibson, Mirallas, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini, Anichebe

Hard working wingers and Jones in for aerial ability, probably to do a job on Fellaini. Wise move by SAF, and with the option to drop Rooney wide and play Giggs in the hole.

I'm plumping for a draw again to be honest. Fellaini will still wreak havoc I suspect, then they'll also have to deal with the strength of Anichebe.

Someone got my hopes up by saying Ferdinand was playing aswell-little s**ts!

Out of curiousity-who's the ref?

How the **** did RVP miss that? jesus christ my backside clenched lol

Sigh. He may be as old as me but christ Giggs is still a perfectionist. I hate that.

Well, it's obvious how much we are hurting by the Distin injury. Pace and interchange/linkup down the left. Not saying Heitinga is a bad defender but he's only just faster than Terry. We had a nice spell of possession but it's obvious Fergies plan to deal with Fellaini has worked. But Anichebe annoyed me. He has to accept the fact that Vidic is stronger than him and won't win every battle in the box. Being petulant won't make it better-get a grip son. And Mirallas was lucky-that was a very poor tackle on Cleverly. Needs to calm it.

But Giggs goal was superbly taken to be honest. And until that 2nd goal-I forgot RVP was on the pitch. Shame the Real Madrid game wasn't a day sooner lol. If I'm honest I can't see us breaking down the back four of Utd-we're being outmuscled in the final 3rd. Our only real chance is via a set piece. But Jagielka has worked his **** off in defence, especially when he has to help compensate for Heitinga's lack of pace.

Christ sake fergie you drive me insance :@

Title is Utd's to throw away now. Need some "medicine" to take the pain away lol

We defended superbly today. It's nice to be able to say that.

Think the most frustrating thing for me was, once Fellaini was taken out of the equation, we looked ordinary up front. Yes we had technically gifted players with flair and so forth, but once they tried to go inside, they were clearly dispatched by strength. We just lacked a second option. And also with the pace of Distin gone that changed a lot of things too. Very, very frustrating. And a damaging blow for the European campaign

Jones did brilliant job on Fellaini. Vidic's best performance in ages and nice to see us defending as a team. Rafael, Vidic, Giggs, RVP all had very good games.

In this sort of situation, I went to the Everton forums as they're normally so full of garbage it makes me smile and cheers me a bit. Rather than give credit to Utd and Fergies gameplan the words "gutless performance", "embarassing", "useless" greeted me. I swear I didn't know weather to laugh or rage at such idiocity. If they can't accept this sort of thing, they simply should stop watching football because it's incredibly obvious they know absolutely nothing of the basics. And SAF's strategy was simple. Shut down the left and Fellaini. Incredibly simple-and incredibly effective.

Most of the team forums are like that. Yeah Rafael and Valencia did brilliantly to cut services from left and Jones on Fellaini which nullified Everton attack. Looks like Fergie studies every bit of Everton's movement and game plan.

Yup. Which annoys me. Intently lol.

Tbh this match is now at the back of my mind. I'm just hearing that this match may have actually been his last visit to OT as Everton manager :S

Fergies big red machine looks in full flow title is uniteds to lose now. But can they go throough vs madrid, I think they will get beat at the bernabau but pull it back at old trafford will be 2 epic games either way!

Sure he won't miss it, he'll be visiting almost weekly in a few years. ;)

Don't count it-he's not being considered by Utd anymore-due to lack of CL experience. The battle for his signature is now Chelsea and...potentially Arsenal and City (urgh!!!). Apparently he's not sending out a "I'm available" message but "smoke signals". And it's from a few sources very close to/within Goodison
