The Manchester United Thread

Well I for one chuckle at the thought Chelsea fanbase nearly resorted to sacrificing newborns and blowing goats to try and make Jose come back to the Bridge, and he may as well go to United instead.

Sounds like Sir Alex to mess up the rivals plans with his last move.

I'll back whoever has Fergie's blessing, regardless of who I would prefer. If that means Phelan strolling through in his trademark shorts, so be it.
Disturbing picture for sure.

i'm a Newcastle fan and most of us have wished Sir Alex the best of luck and we are saddened to see a great manager leave the Premier League.

also i heard that Moyes might step up to take his place but it's all rumors atm.

Might stick my football manager CV into united like that lad did in azerbaijan haha :P

Don't like Fergie at all, but to deny that he's the best thing that has ever happened to United and the Premiership is crazy. The guy is a legend in the game and although I'm glad to see him go it's also a day I wasn't really wishing to come along.

Just got back from interview to hear this and it's pretty much ruined my day as a football man-not a Utd or whatver club fan. He is simply going to be irreplaceable. Just a shame I'm seeing nothing but abuse from complete dicks on my FB page (who I shamefully call "friends"-though judging by their mentality i wonder for how much longer). Greatest manager EVER to grace the PL, and has earned every ounce of respect. yes he has had his critics, but the bottom line is he deserves every ounce of credit and admiration for everything he has done for Utd and football. Weekends will take long time to get used to.

Don't expect our David to take over though-far too soon. In the future yes but not yet.

off topic:

how did it go bud?

David Gill: "The next manager needs the required football experience in terms of domestic and European experience."

I am not a United fan, yet I can only express some "sadness" for Fergie's departure, he will be irreplaceable I know it, arguably the biggest figure of Man Utd and one of the best and most prestigious coaches in this world , I can only congratulate him , his work, Man Utd fans, and express my sincerest wishes that the health problems that ail him may soon vanish, who knows if there will be Mou...

1 word-pants lol.

Even if it went well my day is still pretty much ruined by this news. Not even a Utd fan but still. Such an amazing, admirable, fantastic-stopping now as I simply don't have enough words to describe everything the man has done in football

I'd love to see Mourinho there for a few years, but wow, what a figure to leave the game, utterly irreplaceable and as an Arsenal fan (back when we were Utd's main rivals) I used to love the Wenger & Fergie banter. It'll be a shame to lose that, but if anyone has earned a break from the game, he has. I'm going to watch the Utd matches until the end of the season to see the faithful giving him a proper send off, and hopefully the team will perform in a way which shows their pride for playing under a living legend at the club.

Is it true then that Moyes is to be appointed within the next 48 hours? Bit of a bombshell-seasons not even finished yet. If so-look forward to see Martinez take over

Have a feeling this could speed up any action by Chelsea to bring in Jose

I cant't believe it could be Moyes. Not now anyway. It takes man of stature to tackle the task of this magnitude, at least in the short term. Stabilise things, take club a bit out of SAF's shadow. Especially since there's also stock involved.

for me it's a double whammy. The timing seems odd aswell. but more importantly for us-which players are going and which are staying. This is unreal
