The Manchester United Thread

Utd are preparing a £35 million bid for Fabregas according to sky sports. Obviously don't want title rivals to strengthen their squads but would be great so see Cesc back in the premier league if utd manage to sign him

very true. one of spains top pundits that works for sky has also tweeted it. exciting news

But Fabregas has come out and stated that he wants to stay with Barcelona. I just don't understand are we missing something here what gives United hope of signing him? I just don't get this one at all, I can't see him leaving Barcelona.

obviously he isn't going to say he wants to leave, it will make the club unsettled with a player that doesn't want to be there. but when a bid comes in like it has now, he might take it into consideration

and how do you know that is 100% accurate?

We don't, but it's pretty common knowledge that Arsenal have at least some form of sell-on clause. Barca accepted since they thought Fabregas would stay with them until he retires.

Francesc Fabregas? To United? Yea right. Maybe for 60m so Barca can get 30m out of it. I wouldn't mind that at all, but question is would Fabregas join United.

Why wouldn't he? He saw RVP move and get the Premier League right away ;)

Reports in of a bid from our side for fabregas worth 30 mil.Now thats what i call dreaming XD

Now when Villa, Tello?, and Thiago are gone, he'll play a lot, right?

Afellay's returned from loan, Sergi Roberto's coming up from the reserves on a permanent basis, Cuenca will get more game time, they want to keep Tello, and of course Neymar's joined. I wouldn't bet on it.

Indeed Fabrehas is a different proposition to Thiago. Best position (now) is really where Messi. He is more offensive than Thiago, and that sometimes creates issues in their 4-3-3, the way they play it. On the other hand, it would make him a lethal threat from deep in the 4-2-3-1, or even give him the role behind RVP. Of course, any (unlikely) move would be bad for Rooney (6).

lest you forget Arsenal have a 50% sell on clause, barca won't sell

Many papers have reported sell on clause but Barca would be stupid to agree that sort of clause. My guess is 50% of any profit Barca makes on the transfer, so anything over 35 Million.

English papers have reported 50% sell on clause which I believe is wrong.

Arsenal also have a first option.

Only if Fabregas wants to sign for them, it's nothing like Buy back clause, so overall it's a nothing clause.

If Fabregas wants to sign for ManUtd then Arsenal's clauses are of no use.

I don't believe this is going to happen though, we will sign a underwhelming CM after all this and will come up with "we tried" non sense.

Thing is, that wont be enough. It's not enough to try and fail for a leading CM, not this time round.

Yes, all these years we had Fergie so somehow we won leagues. Now midfield is top priority.

Also our policy is very wrong. We either target top level players or just leave as it is instead of thinking of other players who are easily better than our midfielders.

Agreed. For the first time in over two decades your safety net is gone. Good as Moyes is, you NEED to invest this time round.
