WOW man utds midfield has been poor for years apparently yet they keep winning titles and now they are not even good enough to challenge for the title? the same team that ran away with it last year?

They kept winning because Ferguson's a ******* genius and last year everyone else was ****.

Not putting anything against Fergie, but also I think there was some really good backroom staff as well, we can't underestimate the impact Rene Meulensteen and Mike Phelan done year in year out. Not to mention Eric Steele with De Gea..... (I'm still confused why Moyes would let him go).

every1 else was **** lol so if they had won the league by a point then what? all of a sudden they are a good team? they beat who was infront of them coasted the league but they get no credit because every1 else was **** ok then

Ferguson, Rene, Steele, all of them were fantastic. Ferguson surrounded himself with an excellent team.

I actually can't understand what you're saying. If you revert to English perhaps I can answer.

if you can't understand that then this conversation is finished.

The competition was poor last season, including Manchester United themselves. Manchester City's inability to develop a cogent rhythm in their starting eleven and rotate properly meant that they struggled to gain continuity. Mancini led enough personnel changes for his squad to become inconsistent and fragile when it mattered. Therefore allowing the gap to widen.

Moreover it doesn't matter how large the gap between first and second is. That's not what dictates strength in competition.

I'm sorry, but GC is right, what you said was not well structured at all and made little sense. He's right, everyone in the league didn't do very well, United may have won it yeah, but if you forgot MU conceded first for pretty much the entire first half of the season, games we should have romped we didn't.
As for everyone else, well they played pretty poorly. The fact United won by such a large margin proved that. City losing games they shouldn't & conceding goals at the last few mins (most notable was City 2- 3 United). Same goes for Chelsea. You only have to look at the season before last to see how bad it was. City beat MU by 1 point over a 38 game season yet United won by 11 and the only difference to each side was Nastasic and Garcia and United with RVP & Kagawa. All four great players but not enough to warrant such a margin of points. Whereas Chelsea signed Hazard, Oscar and ended up 14 points behind. Those points just mentioned are really but a few of many many more reasons of why everyone played ****.

It's fairly simple really. SAF is the only reason why we are even challenging for the league titles in the past 2 years. However, it is evident that our team is not up to par, and our poor style of play is an obvious indication of that. There's also a reason why we were vastly underperforming in the Champions League - our team simply isn't good enough when we play the best of Europe.

Last year's result does not mean that our team is good enough as it is. Chelsea were a newly constructed team and were in shambles due to Abramovich's impatience with managers, not to mention that they are in a transition period where their core players are all either leaving or caught up by their age (Drogba, Terry, Lampard). City were basically self destructing with Mancini persisting on his suicidal tactical tweaks (3-5-2 anyone?). Arsenal were just being Arsenal. That's the reason why we ran away with the title, not because we have a good enough team.

And we were lucky that Carrick was always available last season. If he ever get injured in this coming season with the team as it is now, our midfield would be drastically weakened. Who is gonna replace Carrick and play his role? Anderson and Cleverley doesn't offer the stability in the middle of the park, and doesn't recycle possession as good as Carrick does, nor do they have any defensive capability that could match Carrick's. Fletcher doesn't seems like coming back any time soon either, and our youngsters in Adnan and Powell doesn't offer anything like Carrick as they are more attacking minded, and let's not talking about their experience of top level football. This is a midfield that screams out for reinforcement and we must get it this summer in order to challenge for the league title. No excuses.

Anderson and Cleverley in midfield would be properly terrifying.

(For United fans, not for the rest of the league)

Funny thing is 2 years ago when we started the season and until they got injured they were in fact kind of terrifying (for the rest of the league, not for United fans). But I get your point taking into account the current state of events.

1. You seem to forget that history teaches us that standing still is actually going backwards (I remember what happened when instead of building on our success in 1999 and 2008 we stood still. In 2008 we had Ronie-Tevez-Rooney in attack. When the first two went, we did fck all to develop and lost the potential to dominate Europe).

2. We are UTD we should not be satisfied merely with the EPL.

3. EVERYBODY seems to be improving - ****** bought all those players they needed to buy last year to maintain a challenge but didnt (a bit of a moral for us there maybe?!), CHELSKI have Mourinho who is undoubtedly now the best manager in the world (even if you dont agree with me he's miles better than that pillock BENITEZ and seems to really fit in CHELSKI/ENGLAND), and SPURS now have the best MF in England even if BALE leaves (id give my left hand to have Dembele-Sandro-Paulinho and now Capoue at OT). Im not including **** in the challengers as they have that idiot WENGER guiding them who s not won anything for 3003 days (its true actually, google it - they are the only other "big" team not to be moving forward) or LFC who havent got the squad to challenge even though they may be better than this.

4. Everybody seems to be improving even the rest of the teams: Norwich/Villa/Swansea for example.

5. Im fed up with MOYES and his wonderment about finding himself our manager. Every second sentence he says seems to be about what a step up managing us is, how awesome it is, how professional everybody at UTD is - Im sure he secretly wants an autograph from everybody in our squad! Of course I remember in 1989 taking part in a sitting demo outside OT holding one end of a sign which read "Fergie out" so what do I know - other than Im frightened shitless. Mate get your tongue out of our players' ***** and do some flippin going after realistic targets! So far we have wasted valuable time chasing a player who was NEVER going to come.

You want realistic targets, lemme give you a couple: we need a new lb? English players are overpriced even class ones such as Baines (I mean 15+m for a 28yo you re havin a laff). Why didnt we move for COENTRAO who is younger and equally good and was making noises that he wanted to leave before ANCELOTTI came in?

What has happened to us about FELLAINI?! Moyes came in, people started getting dizzy with mentions of TIAGO/FABREGAS and we suddenly forgot what a class act he is. Somebody who d add class and bite in our wimpy mf. To those two Id also add CABAYE and suddenly we have a pretty decent mf set up - dont lets forget that the gurning JONES is pretty adept at DM as well.

6. People are saying how frightening ANDO and CLEVERLEY would be. Last season ANDO was quite good whenever he played. Ok he tends to tire during matches but imho he has never been given a real run in the team (most of the times he was being substitute last season he was actually quite good). And CLEVERLEY is more of a playmaker and actually quite good at that. My point is that those two with FELLAINI would work together.

7. As things stand currently Im praying for 4th place ...

I knew the theory about how "United fans understand the need for stability" will implode this year, but I didn't expect it to happen already during preseason!

Sigh...

1) The attack isnt and wont ever be an issue. Also we didnt stand still, pretty sure we went to the CL twice after that...

2) Agreed

3) Yes, window isnt closed, point?

4) Great, all three teams irrelevant, none of them a real threat, none of their targets near what we need, moving on...

5) Good grief, this is actually bollocks, I mean all of it. Ignoring the guff about Moyes, Coentrao isnt anywhere near as good as Baines. Great, he's younger, and still not better than what we have. He's not better than Evra. He's not going to get much better, whereas Fabio is still rapidly improving ( providing he can stay fit). And what makes you think he will be cheaper than £15m?

6) Who says we still are not getting Fellaini. more to the point, you still need more than Fellaini. Cleverley is not a playmaker. Ando doesnt get a run, because he is ALWAYS injured when he starts to get form, its a long running joke that when he plays well, he is due an injury.

7) Considering we have never dropped out the top 3... I mean good grief

TL;DR: you sound like a hysterical Arsenal fan, get a ****** grip.

1. Never said the attack would be an issue. Was just using that as an argument about last time we stood still.

2. The window is not closed but the footy starts next Sunday. Point is that first we (Moyes) dont seem to have any realism in who we target and that even if we bring in anybody the others will be much readier than us.

3. The other teams are not a threat for winning the league BUT YOU SEEM TO FORGET WE LL BE FACING THEM TWICE!

4. Saying that COENTRAO is nowhere near as good as BAINES is blinkered English parochialism. But I forgive you cos apparently you never watch Spanish football. I do. And the guy is at least as good as BAINES plus he's younger and cheaper. EVRA is declining. OK last season he was better than the previous one but he is old and declining. But the point is not Evra necessarily. What makes me think he dbe cheaper than 15m? The same thing that makes you think that 15m is what will buy us BAINES (WHO I RATE BTW - I am just trying to say we should think outside the box): before ANCELOTTI came in he was saying he wanted to leave and the figure of 8/9m was bandied about by the media.

7. Who says we are not getting FELLAINI? Well not me for sure. I was just saying that instead of going for someone realistic such as FELLAINI, we wasted valuable time chasing windmills thereby losing important time for team cohesion etc.

8. We have never dropped out of the top 3 yes, but ARE YOU CONFIDENT THIS SEASON WE WONT? Has this summer given you even a spec of info to make you feel confident we wont? Cos Im not confident at all. I really hope Im wrong and Im flying in to watch the CHELSKI match to voice my support but Im TERRIFIED!

Plus with FERGIE at the helm we never had to be the best team player for player but rather he always seemed to make us more than the sum of our parts.

9. Hahahahahahaha. I know I sound like a hysterical **** FAN but Im sorry, UTD is my life I CANT get a ****** grip. Btw even the wife bless her keeps telling me to relax .... The other day in the shower I was reduced to singing the WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED chant truying to snap myself out of it ...
