The Manchester United Thread

He's picked the wrong club to support then. United prides itself on its local players. But it's not as if they play them for the sake of it either. They give you time, but if you're not gonna make it, you're not gonna be around forever.

I agree totally, there is nothing better when a local lad makes it into the first team. Especially if you have followed him through the youth ranks too and watched his development

Fine guys, continue to be deluded and be happy with Welbeck when there were really technically proficient players like Berba and still are real goalscorers like Chicharito in the club. The first left and the latter will be leaving the club I believe. Not relied on just because they're not English... I am the fan of the club and football, not the English nationality. Speaking of which - it's obvious in the World and European championships what England and it's massively overrated players (like Welbeck) are really capable of.

No offence, but bollocks is a good word to explain majority of your criticisms. Welbeck is only 22 for Christ sake and your having a go at him because he doesn't pull off every trick he does and can't cross? Pfft. And I have to ask why has no one commented about his best attribute? His work rate is amazing and one of the best I have ever seen.

Frankly, the fact that your comment about Welbeck was picked apart and destroyed by around 5 different people on a United thread, of which these people know the game and this club better than every United fan I have talked to, should be enough to make you realize you are wrong and that you should see past his lack of goals and find out what he truly has to offer. You'd be surprised if you didn't let your shortsightedness get the better of you.

Welbeck still got a way to go, checked out ofteb he shot last season: 1.44 a game, needs to nearly double that, and take his season tally to about 15-20, with at least half in the league. Because we won't be getting goals from Valencia.

I think he will kick on again, hope so we will need him in brazil providing we get there. It's odd to say this of a striker but I like his defensive positioning

Hernandez does have a decent all round game, certainly for Mexico, but limited for United, but we saw more of that last season.

It would be interesting to see a Welbeck/Hernandez partnership, they would compliment each other very well.

Yeah Hernandez game has improved a lot and he has improved almost all his other aspects of the game. Still he is not as good as Welbeck at that but he is ******* lethal striker.

On Welbeck, its laughable when people say he is not good technically. Just yesterday RVP said that Welbeck is a complete package, he just needs to attack the box more often and people will change their tune. I can't understand using last season's stat as a stick to beat him, he started only 2 games as striker and all games as winger. In most of the games his game was all about keeping the tactical shape, goal return was really bad but it doesn't really tell the whole story. He was a winger who rarely got into the box like MOTD showed the map. Even in community shield game he didn't enter the box at all, which changed completely in the England game and Swansea game and he scored both times.

Welbeck is a very good player and has all the attributes to become a real star for us. Added bonus is he is a local lad and a die hard ManUtd fan. His work rate is fantastic and he doesn't moan when played out of position. Almost all our players have praised him for his work rate and how good a player he is and that tells how highly he is rated by staff and players.

A player who could man mark and take out alonso from the whole game is not a good player yup well done sir.
Is evra any better than coentrao who handed in a transfer request ? I find him better than young on left mid atleast .Would be handy if cheap.Should still try for baines.

As you know, I like Welbeck a lot and United are lucky to have him as he is going to get better and better. Just my 2 cents.

Seriously? What makes United different then all other clubs if they're wont go out of your way to promote local talents?

Would you really prefer to be yet another club of hired gun's, only different then the others because Spice Girls happened and carried United to be marketing powerhouse?

Why all the hate for Welbeck? If the Swansea game was any indication of the season to come, we can be very happy, and not have to focus completely on the Rooney issue (which btw seems to have been sorted out, for the time being).

This transfer window gets worse and worse for us.... at the moment can see us signing absolutely no one. If we have to make an offer for Fellaini and Baines, at least do one with a bit of hope......

Eduardo Hernandez, the representative of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, has told El Universal that he has held talks with Valencia over a possible summer switch, but has told the La Liga outfit that the Mexico international is happy at Old Trafford.
Valencia were really interested. I had the opportunity to talk to the sporting director but Javier wants to consolidate himself in Manchester.

Seriously I freaking love this guy and his loyalty is something Rooney should take note of. Although Hernandez would actually have a reason to move on because he constantly doesn't get many chances. I really hope we play him more this season, he certainly deserves it.

Any reason as to why Kagawa does not start... Such a talent and seems to be being wasted at United in a back up role

Loyalty? What loyalty? That's ******* Valencia. If PSG, Monaco, Real, Barca, Bayern come knocking he will go. **** loyalty, there's no such thing in modern football. If you are not born and bred in the club, you don't have to be loyal.

Rooney is disloyal. Yeah, right.

We dont expect that average Chelsea fan understand loyality.

You're a tool if you think Hernandez hasn't had interest from Champions League clubs as well (For your information, Real Madrid have been interested, last summer they tried to tempt him). Valencia is just merely another example of a club he has turned down.

So loyalty must clearly exist in this case. Although I expect him to leave after this season if he doesn't get more opportunities.

Isn't he a Man United fan after all? I've heard something about him being a United fan. Not sure. If you are a fan loyalty means something. But if you don't love the club and you're there just for professional reasons, don't see the problem in leaving.

The point I was trying to make was that he could easily pave a way out for himself at United (not just this summer but last summer as well) because he's not getting many opportunities. I wouldn't begrudge him to do that, he's a very talented player a lot of clubs would love to have, but I find it admirable he's trying to make himself at United. That's why I hope he gets a lot more opportunities this season.
