The Manchester United Thread

Pretty daft to not pay the extra 6m if we want him. Whoever we go for at this stage is going to be overpriced.

Remember hearing something about that with Thiago but can't remember. There's an article somewhere.

Get Koke, release clause 15m

This has panic buy written all over it for Herrera, a lot of money for someone who is pretty average. Agree about Koke.

It's not a panic buy. That's his release clause, and Bilbao dont do backing down. They are in a position where they frankly don't have to.

Hmm, I am just not sure whether getting both Herrera and Fellaini is logical. Especially considering the outlay is going to be quite reasonable.

By the way quite a few reports saying we have made a 12m bid for De Rossi, which got rejected.

Maybe Herrera is just a backup plan since Everton seems keen on keeping Fellaini. So Moyes is just testing how much he would need to shell out for him.

I would be much happier with Fellaini than Herrera since Fellaini will offer us something we don't have and is accustomed to the Premier League.

Also, Anyone else getting annoyed with how badly we are doing in the transfer market the past few seasons? It seems like everytime we go for someone, someone else with more money comes along and steals them. Years ago most players would come to United without a 2nd thought, now because ambitious teams with more money come along, they'd rather go there than a reliable trophy winning team.

If the first offer was 30m, then 6m more to get him, it's so over-priced for him (I know the market is **** atm).

Sigh....

Although like you say.... why not get Koke :\

You are basically becoming Arsenal in that regard then.

It's resorted down to this (mainly) because Fergie kept leaving it and leaving it. Now to be fair to Moyes, it's a big problem he has landed in, which needs to be fixed. But we have missed out on a lot of good midfielders who have been and gone under Fergie's last few years.

Yes but it's an outrageous price for him. We've already had a bid rejected which is still more than he is worth. We've left it so late that we expect to pay these prices though.

What's with all the Herrera hate? He was Athletic's best or second best player last year and he will probably scale well to a better club.

Don't hate him, he'd be a good signing with a slight gamble as he's moving to a different league and a bigger club. But the price is horrible when you consider Koke is available for a very reasonable release clause.

Bilbao confirm the Herrera bid. Say he'll leave for 36m euros only.

I haven't watched him in any game apart from against us, I remember his assisting their 2nd goal with a superb chip. I don't even know how good a player he is, but I want him signed. Just because he is a CM. FFS we couldn't find a decent CM in 2-3 months, really makes you wonder what the **** woodward is doing.

Also thess cheeky bids, like 25 Million for Fabregas, ready to pay 30 Million when the clause is 36 M with only 2 days to go for transfers, allowing Fellaini clause to expire to get him on cheap is so ridiculous. Any other position it's understandable, but for the sacred CM position we should just go out and buy the player.

Maybe. I learned a long time ago to not trust Mike.'s feverish 'definite transfer factz'. ;)

People are saying about it in the Sports Interactive forums as well.

Why do some articles compare him to Steven Gerrard? Considering we are signing a CM that makes me even more nervous.

The only one I see saying that is bleacher report, who are American, and thus don't know their **** from their elbow when it comes to football.

Bilbao dont negotiate. 36m is his release clause. You pay it or you move on.
