The Manchester United Thread

Eh I'm having a hard time believing this. Rooney's preseason looked like this: injured>grumpy>injured>grumpy, and yet somehow he's fit enough to start, but Kagawa is not even fit for bench?

Straight choice between Kagawa and Nani. Moyes chose Nani.

He does, very good organiser actually. Very intelligent player. Expensive, but its a no brainer tbh. If he goes anywhere else in Spain, we will never have this chance again.

Lets calm down though, their manager seems to think he will stay in the interview he gave after the game.

He got backed into evens. Twitter power. Bookies must make an absolute mint from tools like IndyKalia.

One whisper and people pile it on, just in case. Don't see it happening, but a few stand to make a pretty penny if it does.

Nani, who's played like 30 minutes' worth of preseason, over the one player that could've made a proper impact on the game.

Not his finest hour.

I don't think you understand how Mike. works on transfers. United get linked to a player he'd love, he spends weeks dreaming about it and getting himself hyped up, then nothing comes of it. On the other hand, at least the rumour mill's quick enough with a new rumour so that he isn't crushed for TOO long. :D

This. Except for Vidal. I'll never get over Vidal.

To be fair, in a straight shoot out for the bench I'd choose Nani, but the point is both should have been involved in the game in some way.

And frankly, regardless of team selection and tactics, I don't see us walking away from that game with anything. Deeper rooted problem that the squad just doesn't seem to handle Anfield.

We robbed them last time tbh. We had nothing really, and robbed them.

So you're telling me he used his footwork to hold up the ball (and then pass it sideways as always)? By saying he didn't dribble well I mean when he didn't use his technical dribbling and technique abilities, his decisions and flair and also acceleration, agility and pace to go past his man. He did not do that effectively.

And yes, I do think you partly support him just because he is English, especially after your statement that English players are core of United's identity.

It just happens that Kagawa and Chicharito are more finished product. And there's a reason why Ferguson has relied more on them (especially Chicha) last season when we were behind and needed a comeback. Because in that cases you need to revert to your best players. Not to Welbeck.

I would like to refer to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was in the same position as Hernadez for majority of his career and you know what Fergie said to him when he wasn't starting in the 99 Cup final? He said "don't worry if we are losing come the 80th min, we will just throw Ole on and we will win.

The fact he is English is a plus, not the main reason why every united fan on here likes Welbeck. The main reason is that we can see past his lack of goals and see what he brings to the pitch witch is a **** of a lot. Surely the fact not one person has agreed with you and bashed what you have said several times over should be enough to make you realize you are wrong! Also the fact that we have 8 of the 23 man squad for England is a point of pride for me as a United fan.

Well this is fun.... no Fellaini wigs being sold in the MU shop yet. Sigh.

I see your point and yes you cant fault him for effort and if utilised well (as in the Real matches last season) he's very effective but he misses too many chances is not consistent at all and thus (and it pains me to admit it mostly for the reasons you mention) he's not top team/united standard.

Same goes for: Ando/Cleverley/Ashley Young (especially) and Valencia imho.

Also: CANT BELIEVE that **** are getting OZIL the best player in the world in his position (and a position where we ve been needing players for ages) and we are MISSING OUT. WTF? (at least we are getting FELLAINI it seems who I rate immensely but together with OZIL they would ve owned the league).

We don't need Ozil, we have Kagawa who plays the same position. Also Rooney obviously.

It wouldn't solve our problem of central midfield.

Granted he didn't score much last season and missed all of his chances but one, but this is a new season and has doubled his tally and looks a lot sharper.
I agree with you about Young, he is a bag of ***** and I can still picture Aston Villa laughing all the way to the bank with a 18mill cheque. Valencia is has been terrible for the last season and so far in this one and it makes me nearly cry in frustration when they are both on the pitch at the same time.
Ando I think is good but injured far to often as whenever he plays a couple of good games he gets injured again, and Cleverly is not good enough but yet the fact that he is our second best midfielder (I'm counting Fletcher as retired for the forseeable future) proves our midfield is in a sorry state of affairs.

I don't think we were ever going to get Ozil and we don't really need him as we have Kagawa, but if we were to sign him I'd be happy because the shitstorm form Arsenal fans would be hilarious(but I wouldn't blame them).

On a separte note, we have just had a 12 mill bid for De Rossi rejected. I would love him, but is he too old? And by "too old" I mean he would only help the midfield for a couple of years before we have to replace him "too old".

Source for De Rossi? Can't see him leaving Roma on the last day of the transfer window.

Definitely not 12 milion too old.

How can De Rossi be too old and not worth the 12m? He would provide a fantastic stop gap option to our midfield, and would beef up our midfield by a lot. Not to mention that he brings steel, grit, determination and leadership into our midfield that is sorely lacking in any of them. Even if he only had 2 years of top quality football left in him he is worth the outlay.

He would not be worth the 12m if Pogba was still here, or if we have any other young prospect that is similar to him. Unfortunately we don't. Cleverley being our second best midfielder currently says a lot. Once Carrick is injured we would have one of the weakest midfield I have ever seen in the past decade or two. And we would easily recoup the amount spent on him if we progress further in the Champions League. Being eliminated in the group stages and the first knockout round in the past 2 years is simply unacceptable for a club of our stature.

Idc if we paid 20m for him, it's Woody's fault for leaving it so late.

Yeah. Player of his skill, still good 3 years in him, for 20 milion? In this market its still a bargain.

Especially since he has the Roykeanesse aura about him, something your midfield desperately needs.
