The Manchester United Thread

I await the day that a United fan defends their acts, rather than compare it to something Liverpool has done. At least that's one thing we'll always have in common, we both talk(and sing) about Liverpool.

Last time I checked you randomly came in talking about United player's diving when there was probably someone from every premier league club at it that weekend. Seems you can't get your mind off United, either.

Good to see our second choice players and players needing match fitness doing their job against full strength Liverpool side bar Johnson and Coutinho.

Not sure which choice Giggs and Jones pairing is though.

Wouldn't exactly call that second choice players, with the exception of defense and no carrick in CM that's probably the best team you could have played anyway.

I know right? We only made changes to 8 out of the 11 players who started against City few days ago.

De Gea - First choice
Rafael - First choice
Evans - third choice
Smalling - fourth choice
Buttner - second/third choice

Giggs Jones pair - probably our last choice
Nani and Kagawa - need match fitness

Rooney - first choice
Hernandez - third choice or second.

I look at all threads and comment accordingly. There's nothing random about posting about United in a United thread.

Well that was much better ...

1. For the first time this season we had energy, hunger, speed and commitment. We were not great but it was a step towards the rite direction deffo.
2. LFC were nothing to write home about, which is NOT to detract from our performance but rather bears out a comment I made in this thread recently regarding the first match of the season against them: that they were uninspiring and that had we played with a little more "interest" they were there for the taking.
3. I thought that Jones was great (reminded me how instrumental he was tactically in our first match v REALM last season). Reminded me of FLETCHER in big matches. I now think that he should be given a run in this position as he fills up the combating mf role we so obviously have lacked.
4. But Jones' performance (and to a lesser degree that of the rest of the team) masked the folly of playing Giggs in central mf. Actually the more the match progressed the more easy it became for LFC to reach our cbs and beyond at will simply cos it was impossible for Jones to deal with everything - but a better team than LFC or one with more concentration would have taken real advantage of this.
5. Nani. For all his primadonnaisms, tendency for the "hollywood" action etc the guy is the most technically gifted player we have and among the best in the world at it as well. Plus for the first time he actually tracked back a bit. Frankly Im astounded that he's not a starting XI fixture and dread seeing Young lineup from the start against the next opponent.

Like I said much more like it.

Like I said, with the exception of your defense and Carrick.
Nani and Kagawa should be playing anyway because Valencia and Young are dire, and Hernandez was most likely to play because he offers you goals and no RVP.

This is painful. I honestly don't know whats the deal here. Chronic lack of creativity, will to win and general ability. I honestly think we should have sell Rooney and get Oezil. Do we even have defense? What does Rio for his pay check? Where's Vidic? I think if he's fit he should be playing against strong strikers. Poor Evans, being bullied by Anichebe. I don't know... I talked about this problems when we played pre season games, and some of members said it's different in pre season and in league games. Well, pre season were pretty much mirror of style we are playing now. Clueless football based on ******* set piece goals.

Considering the Arsenal 17-18 year olds played 120 minutes and beat WBA midweek, I have no idea what Utd were trying to do today. Awful.

Sell Rooney?! He is your best player atm and the only one who looks like he gives a ****

You ignored the Swansea and LIverpool games then...

Dear ******* lord. NO creativity, Defenders were ****** useless, and what the **** was Moyes thinking playing W/O Vidic & Evra who to my knowledge aren't injured.
For Christ sake Moyes, we were up against strikers who are in decent form. Also you play ******* Anderson over Fellaini! You bought him for a reason, not to leave him on the bench and play Ando in his place, I mean he didn't even play mid week! RVP I understand seeing as he was injured but jeez. Shocking display and frankly we were lucky that Tottenham and Chelsea only got a point each and City lost otherwise this would be even worse.
We are in a sorry state of affairs right now and Moyes needs to buck up his ideas. At least he didn't insist on playing Young this time around.

No. I didn't. Bar Swansea every game was poor.

Liverpool in the cup wasn't.

Moyes needs to pick a settled side though, and in all honesty, there is very little that he should be changing, the team almost picks it self for now

De Gea

Evra
Vidic
Evans
Rafael

Fellaini
Carrick

Kagawa
Rooney
Nani

RVP

The style practically picks itself too

Rio and Evans combination is ****** useless as they both offer 0 physical presence. Anichibe had a field day. Even last season it was same in the first half of the season and then Vidic improved the defense.

It was a big mistake by Moyes to play Rio and Evans. Smalling would have been much better choice as he offers lot different than Evans and Rio. Playing Jones as RB means Nani was the lone attacker on the right side. Not sure what happened to Fabio, at least Valencia would have been lot better choice. Can't blame Jones tbh, he is a CB who rarely gets chance as a CB.
