The Manchester United Thread

Luke Shaw is also a chelsea fan so I am pretty sure if chelsea were interested, he would rather move there. I am pretty sure we will make a move for him in the summer since Ashley Cole's contract is up and he probably won't be offered an extension

Yeah, seems more and more likely. Shame though, I rather wished he'd move to United. That was why I said Alex Sandro on the left T_T Granted, Sandro is excellent, but Luke Shaw is English and younger.

Ramsey was United fan and his idol was Giggs but he chose Arsenal over ManUtd and at that time ManUtd were CL and League champions.

Smalling was Arsenal fan and he chose ManUtd over Arsenal, same with Zaha.

Except now in all regards, Chelsea are the better option especially if you don't qualify for the CL. Even if you do, we are probably still going to be the more enticing option. Shaw will get playing time if Cole leaves which looks likely. He will be part of a young squad that is well equipped to dominate for the next decade if a couple more good signing are brought in plus their is the Mourinho factor ... If you felt that I was saying that Shaw would come to Chelsea simply because he is a chelsea fan then no, I was merely mentioning it as an added benefit on why he would choose Chelsea over any other club if offered the chance to play in blue

Yeah, Chelsea do seem the better team. However, if we exclude his interest, then Manchester United also seem a good option. With Evra and Buttner leaving, and Fabio not favoured, Shaw will get excellent playing time at United too. The problem is the ageing squad, as opposed to the younger-ish squad of Mourinho. However, we all know what that ageing squad can do (albeit it was under Ferguson, but still...) And, compound it to the fact that Abromovic is a trigger-happy idiot regarding managers - that can make it to be a pretty unsettling atmosphere at the club. Although Mourinho has more more chances than anyone else to make it a long reign at the club, but still..

Taking this into consideration, I still feel it comes down to player preferences, and with that, Shaw seems more likely to move to Chelsea T_T

I am pretty sure Mourinho is in for the long-haul even if he fails to win a trophy ... Roman is many things but he is not an idiot. He probably realises by now that if he sacks Mourinho, no good manager would go near the Chelsea hot seat ... But yeah I agree with you, United are a good option although odds are he will end up at the Bridge

At the end of the day getting in the top 4 will pretty much decide the calibre of player we will attract, if we not in top 4 players like vidal, gundogan,di maria, pogba, mata, reus will never join us.

Yes, one bad season and all of a sudden Chelsea are better option than ManUtd in all regards.

The fact that Ed Woodward was recently saying about how we'd survive if we didn't make top 4 was worrying and almost accepting that.

If we don't make top 4 it will be a disaster, make no mistake about it. But more to the point is this a sign of another non-existent transfer window??? If we don't get anyone in I think we're in huge trouble, need to spend big even if it means paying over the odds for a bit of quality in midfield.

Edit: I know for a fact Cabaye would come for like ?20m, he's probably worth half of that but he's a classy midfielder and would definitely do for 6 months at least.

Eh, that depends. Buying people just so that they carry the tide forward for 6 months would be a hasty move. It's not like United are oil-rich enough to do that. Yes, we may need to spend over the top, especially now, but if we're going to do it, think about the slightly long term period too, not just short term. Really don't need another Kagawa-like transfer in the squad, mainly warming the bench,

True, but the reality is that getting someone in this window better than Cabaye is going to be extremely difficult or cost the club even more. Like the price being branded for Koke.... he's never ever worth ?30m.

Cabaye is a great player in my view, we shouldn't under-estimate the difference he has made to Newcastle United this season when he has played. I think he's only 27 and he is better than all of our midfielders and possesses different qualities compared to our best midfielder Carrick.

I think it would be a good bit of business and I can't see any realistic alternatives other than perhaps Ribeiro in Brazil but that's a big gamble considering we all know it can be hard for them to adapt to the BPL and we need instant results.

Ah, but Koke still is a better option than Cabaye. Sure, Koke may not be worth that much now, but he is younger, and very, very creative, and unselfish. Plus, he has experience playing in UEFA Champions League. That, in my opinion is a bigger plus. With Cabaye, 1.5 - 2 years down the lane, he'll probably be start getting plagued with injuries. Not worth the 20 Million. United should rather pay 10 Million more, and get a player for the longer term. I'm even more leery of the Cabaye factor, considering what happened with Fellaini at United. I considered him pretty good, while he was at Everton, and he's a flop at United.

But then again, I come to realism. Koke's release clause was priced at ?50m, and I highly, highly doubt United shelling out that sorta cash on a single player, no matter how good he may be.

Also, Ribeiro quashed a move to Old Trafford in January. I think he'd be more amenable to a move in the summer.

Oh yeah, Ravel Morrison was being touted with a return to OT. Not sure how I'd react to that bit of news..

Over all, Alex Sandro for Left Back;; Get rid of Young and Nani, and get some good wingers. Young is invariably injury prone, and Nani never gets chosen anyhow, makes more sense to dump them, and buy some younger, better wingers. Probably throw in Kagawa to sweeten the deal? But if Rooney is leaving in the summer (he hasn't yet signed a new deal), then Kagawa becomes more vital to the United squad. We could try to tempt Paul Pogba back to United, but that move remains unlikely. Else, go for Koke in the summer.

Notice that I'm mostly referring to summer deals, since I don't really have any hopes that Moyes will be able to tempt top players to United in January. I dearly hope I'm proven wrong though..

If you have anything to refute my claim, please enlighten me ... If you just cannot accept the facts then don't bother

Facts? That's just your opinions.

Hazard signed for a team that finished below Newcastle and for a team that had no manager. Money talks simple as that.

Like I said Ramsey's case was very similar to this.

Oh don't keep on saying your opinion as facts. Are you Rafael Benitez in disguise?

i like how you tell only one side of the story .... Hazard also signed for a team that had just won the CL and FA Cup and had a billionaire owner who had promised to invest heavily in the team which he did. If you are saying money is the sole deciding factor in every move, you are an idiot. Either way, my whole argument was only in relation to Luke Shaw and not every player in the universe. In short, you just can't accept that United have fallen down in stature by some margin. Jog on

Did anyone see that stat on SSN the other day about our crossing. Think it was out of 530 crosses this season 423 have either not beat first man or have not reached a united player in the box!

Yeah I saw that. But I had an "inkling" about it by watching us play.

Also please will somebody tell MOYES that Valencia is NOT a rb and every time he puts him there he's at fault for at least 1 goal!

Stop acting like a **** with "if you don't agree with me you are a ****" phrases.

Money is the deciding factor in players moving, if not the sole reason it's the biggest reason.

Oh how have ManUtd fallen from grace? Just because they might finish outside top 4 this season?

If that's is fallen from grace then what is Chelsea for finishing below Newcastle and barely making top 4 in the last few games last season?

Oh wait, short term something you are used to.

I am not even going I bother to reply because obviously your common sense seems to have gone for a walk and you deliberately ignored the points I made when you initially made that 'finishing below Newcastle' statement

You are not a **** because you fail to agree with me, you are a **** because you are deliberately ignoring solid points and needlessly arguing
