The Manchester United Thread

In case anyone is unaware, here's your side's potential opponents in the FA Cup 4th round:

Birmingham/Bristol Rovers/Crawley v Man Utd/Swansea

There are many upcoming talents (Powell and the like), but none of them look enough to challenge for a first team spot just yet. Maybe Powell in a year or two, but definitely not just yet.

United need a LB, a quality CM and definitely wingers.

I wouldn't say United need wingers as in plural, but perhaps they need to sign one winger. The current wingers have been blatantly poor this season, but a lot of that's form, so signing multiple new players to replace them is rash - maybe one winger to add a bit of depth and replace the ageing Ashley Young.

If they managed to get Shaw, Koke and El Shaarawy (all of them young and talented), then they will pretty much be set. The problem with those three is they will probably end up costing a significant sum of money, and United may also face competition to get them, assuming they're interested in the first place!

Well, rumours are that Moyes is looking at Griezman;; But since apparently PSG is also interested in him (since apparently PSG, Madrid and City seem to want almost anything that plays football), I dunno about that happening. And for a winger, as opposed to wingers, I guess that holds true. Even if Moyes is planning to sell Nani, he'd still have Januzaj as backup, so yeah, probably winger.

Milan are prepared to let El Shaarawy go rather cheaply (20 Million oddish) (again, bloated, unconfirmed rumours), and I for one, would love to see him at OT, but Liverpool are also very, very interested in him, and given his injury prone-ness, I dunno if it'll be viable.

Moyes doesn't even seem interested in Shaw, and either ways, he'd probably be a target in summer than now. But if Koke manages to come, it'll accomplish many things - Moyes' disastrous first window will fade away, and he'll have shown he can still get excellent talents;; plus, such a move could potentially lift the team, giving it a much needed boost.

Last season United were average, everyone else was *****.

This season United have been *****, everyone else average.

Many an 'expert' have said that only Fergie could have won league titles with those recent Man United teams and so it is proving.

That's a load of nonsense. Last season we were fantastic and could have gone on to reach the record point tally but the fact we won league so comfortably we took foot off the gas.

There are ways to defend Moyes and it's not using excuses like "last season every one was ****" or "Fergie had many transfer windows to address so and so positions" because he had the same squad minus RVP and still won the league comfortably in 2010-11, lost in the last min on GD in 2011-12 and lost by a point in 2009-10 season. So for him that midfield was good enough to win the league, so he handed fantastic squad minus midfield to Moyes and his duty was to address that issue, the only issue.

The only issue? The only major issue maybe, but no the only issue.

I think Smalling/Valencia partnership will be crucial for this game.

Haha Fabio sent off in the couple of minutes that he just got on.

And again. Sat high up the pitch, but no creativity while dominating large parts of the game.

Bit worried the golden goose may get culled at this rate. Moyes needs a few wins.

What Moyes needs is the best transfer window in history. I feel like that's the only way some fans would stop calling for his head.
Bring in some "great" players and for them to perform.

Yup! The concept behind giving someone "time" is so that he manages to improve the performances etc. But we see no improvement. None whatsoever. Its like some sick groundhog day joke. Again and again loads of sterile ball holding, no tactical nous, no intensity, no penetration, nothing ... It never changes; never improves.

So far we have ballsed up the league (will struggle to get into the CL and most quality Continental players wont want to join us in Summer), we are out of the cup and we have already started losing money off our value. And we have seen NOTHING from Moyes so far to give us hope things are going to improve.

We actually have a BETTER squad than last year (the additions of Januzai, Zaha and Fellaini) when we won the league relatively comfortably. Yes the squad had issues from last year but we are MUCH better than what he makes us show.

Thing is though, this was probably the most realistic trophy Moyes could win this season, and his starting XI was this: Lindegaard; Smalling, Evans, Ferdinand, B?ttner; Valencia, Fletcher, Cleverley, Kagawa; Welbeck, Hernandez. with subs: De Gea, Fabio, Anderson, Carrick, Giggs, Zaha, Januzaj.

If you were Vidal, or somebody similar, why would you go to a side who falls apart at home and can't muster more than two shots in a half against Swansea? You'd have to massively overpay. Massively. Both on transfer fee and wages, as everyone knows Utd are desperate.

It was nice to see the Utd fans leaving early at home, and booing the players. After years of taking the **** from their fans about "this is how proper fans behave and support their club", with Fergie gone and the winning ways with him, finally they're showing they have a right to be frustrated (like fans of every other team) and can lose their smug bullshit.

Man United are a great name and team, dont get me wrong BUT signing these great players may be very hard.

They are often tracked by several top sides and with United's current problems and how little Moyes is known outside of England, it may be hard to attract these top players if other clubs are in for them as well

We need the creativity. Which doesn't currently exist in the side. You've missed the point i'm making
