The Manchester United Thread

I wouldn't continue unless you want to be infracted, you and sunil already walking a fine line from 2 days ago

Come on Mike, it was not all that bad. At least not ban worthy let alone week ban. Forget how bad it was when Carragher tried to break Nani's leg? :P

Me worked up? Ok. It's there for everyone to see who got worked up when someone mentioned Scholes.

Still didn't answer the actual point as usual.

Anyways continue with your usual posts. I'm done.

Read above, I admitted that the fault lies with me for not expressing myself clearly ... It's still pretty ridiculous to see you get so worked up over one footballer just like you did with Shaw a couple of days ago, anyways might as well close the issue now

That's a positive thing. Not all young players we produce are good enough to play for us. What this says is even though they don't play for Manutd they will have a good career because of the education they get at United. It's something that is very very important and Fergie mentioned it so many times in his interviews. We take care of our young players and give them a good career options.

Shawcross wouldn't start at United, Brady could have been option as a converted LB but he is a good LW but not good enough for United. Morrison was sold for the reason that is mentioned hundred times already.

Pique couldn't break into the team as he had the best CB pair in the world at that time ahead of him and his club came calling. We signed Tevez on loan who helped us in winning CL and at that time we couldn't offer Rossi enough games (Which IMO is a big mistake). Pogba's was a big mistake though.
I wasn't saying that the players shouldn't have been sold, just that it's quite shocking to see so many quality players be sold. Shawcross would most likely start at United at the moment, Ferdinand's past it and Vidić is always injured (and he's leaving now). He would start from next season on, if Ferdinand and/or Vidić leave (as expected) anyway. Brady maybe wouldn't start, but he would be a good squad player, and would've been useful this season since your wingers are off-form. I understand why Morrison left. It's still a great achievement to produce all these players, but just think how good United could be if they had retained Shawcross, Piqu?, Pogba and Rossi and had the current squad too (that's assuming that they all would develop to how they are now, which is improbable if they had stayed)!

Some of you may or may not read this, but this is an open letter to David Moyes from last season. It's quite eye-opening.

School of Science An open letter to David Moyes » School of Science
That's hilarious. As in hilariously stupid. Moyes was so underrated when he was at Everton, like Lambert is being underrated by many Villa fans now (who complain about his signings, most of which have been good and all of which have been cheap) just because he's at a club where they don't allow him to spend millions and millions!

In next 2 windows would like us to sign Koke,Mangala,Coentrao,Rakitic,Reus,Di Maria and Gundogan depending what happens with his new contract. Sign Mangala,Rakitic,Coentrao in Jan the rest in the summer that's me and seems doable.
That sounds a bit ambitious! You don't need two wingers, two (or three) centre-midfielders and two left-backs! The total of all of those players would probably cost around ?150 million, or more if the likes of Koke, Reus and G?ndoğan keep playing so well and their clubs badly want to keep them. The signings of Koke, Mangala, Coentr?o and Reus would be brilliant, and even just those four are unlikely.

They have been some disastrous misses as well although he definitely has had more success than failure in the market ... Although to be fair, pretty large difference in operating in the market at this level. Summer will be interesting
Moyes seems to buy lots of great bargains, but fail when it comes to big-money signings (Bilyaletdinov, Andy Johnson, Yakubu, Heitinga). He does seem to generate a lot of profit, if nothing else.

I agree partly. ManUtd is not all about signing big names. It's about signing young players with potential or a low budget punts. Yeah Everton and ManUtd shop in completely different market, so it will be a big test for him.

SAF record is fantastic. There are few horrific signings but he was at same club for 26 years so he is bound to make few bad ones. I wouldn't say he made tons of bad ones.
You can't say he didn't make a lot of bad signings, there were many bad ones as well as good ones (although it depends what you classify as 'bad'). A lot of them were for cheap, I'll grant you that, but there were quite a few (as would be expected). Anderson, Manucho, B?b?, B?ttner, Dong Fangzhou, Berbatov, Djemba-Djemba, Obertan, V?ron and Forl?n just to name a few (fairly recent ones). Others like Young, Nani, Hargreaves, etc. could be considered flops, especially due to their respective fees.

Let me make myself clear here: I'm not saying Fergie was a bad manager by any means, I mean that he, like almost every other manager, makes a lot of bad signings. The number is further exaggerated by the amount of time he spent as United manager, and with a decent budget most of the time.

Many-a rumour going round about Pjanic to United, especially now they are on the verge of getting nainngolan (however you spell).

Does anyone think it's true about all this stuff regarding Coentrao coming to United? I don't really know whether it's a good signing or not, he is pretty versatile in different positions but defensively quite suspect.

Jagielka - 4M
Tim Cahill- 1.5M
Baines - 6M
Mirallas - 6M
Distin - 5M
Pienaar - 2M
Coleman - 60K
Howard - 3M
Neville - 3.5M
Lescott - 2M
Yobo - 1M
Yakubu - 11.25m
Bilyaletdinov - 8.9m
Andrew Johnson - 8.5m
John Heitinga - 7m
James Beattie - 6m
Nikica Jelavic - 5m
Per Kroldrup - 5m

He isn't that impressive when he had to spend more than his usual bargain prices though.

Pjanic could cost 30+ mil fairly easily, could be an expensive January for United.

Coentrao should have come in the summer except Moyes went in him far too late after he realised that he could not get Baines and eventually some **** up over the paperwork resulted in him staying at Madrid

Not too sure if he will come this window as Ancelloti has said Madrid will not sell or buy anyone... I guess it's still something to watch but I would say your priority should be on a midfielder this window

Oh yeh no doubt priority is a midfielder. But I think Ancelotti said something similar just before Ozil left as well, Furthermore, he was left out of the Real Madrid game yesterday, wasn't even in the squad, despite being fit and injury-free.

Great team tonight....................LOL

This is where Moyes doesn't help himself... another silly decision. Giggs instead of Kagawa, perfect game to play Shinji and he doesn't ****** do it! He doesn't help himself does he!

Last I read a couple weeks ago Pjanic was in contract talks over a new deal. And Coentrao was not in squad coz he just recovered from long injury.

Also not happy about cleverly and Valencia starting again

We'll lose or draw this one, and win the other I think. Either way, I think this'll be very dull.

The **** did Shinji do to deserve a start? He's not cutting in this system, better play someone who can do something than waiting for occasional flashes of former Kagawa ( Dortmund one)

Also not happy about cleverly and Valencia starting again

And who should start? Who should play instead Cleverley. We don't have better option on right than Valencia. Yes, his end product is non existent, but his influence in defense and link up play is good.

So? It's his second season, not exactly had tons of chances, a fair few yes. But in a game like tonight could of made a difference against a Sunderland team at home. Giggs is ageing and his career is coming to an end, Kagawa we paid a good amount of money for and want some sort of return.

So many times we heard this, and so many times Kagawa didn't deliver. Accept the fact he's doesn't fit. It's not problem is he good or not, this system doesn't suit him. Our game is too slow with little movement. He can't do **** there. We are in no position to take gamble on him, in most games when he played it was like we had 10 men.
