The Manchester United Thread

Fair enough if that's what you think but even you cannot deny that your midfield needs improving and that they are very few better alternatives out there who will move in January

I never said anything about Chelsea and we are allowed to make such a loss or not ... All I am saying is that just because you are on firm financial footing doesn't mean you start paying out exorbitant wages, I am talking really high sums, so you can turn the heads of Marchisio. It won't remain an isolated incident and would lead to a domino effect as other players will see that deal and start demanding higher wages themselves from United

Well, yes. There are quite a few midfielders who can improve this United side.

Mate you got it all wrong, the likes of Guarin and Matic are just way too low class for the dream team of Moyes and Woodward. Didn't you see Moyes at the Juventus game? They are more likely working on some audacious double swoop for Vidal and Pogba as we speak ... Expect United to put out a statement any day now that Woodward is off on some 'important transfer business' in Italy

You got it all wrong. It's not a case of being shiny enough, it's about being good enough.

Ps, this is not related to you Alcaraz:

And when I say United fans are idiots, I get slated. Well, it was uncalled for and I wont get into discussion wheter's that right or wrong...ah, forget it, it's not worth it.

Snarky posts? Start arguments constantly? How about you go read up the previous pages and find out who is at fault here instead of simply going against me simply because I said something against your beloved club

All I said here was that Guarin would be a good fit for Manchester United or Chelsea before Sunil started taking digs at me saying I don't watch him enough and therefore it's stupid and foolish of me to even comment on the issue. Not to mention his stupid condescending posts targeted at me when I raise legitimate points about the 'money' issue which he constantly ignores and goes off on his own tangent or better yet, doesn't reply at all

Or when I said that Shaw would likely choose Chelsea over United, suddenly Sunil twisted that into me proclaiming the end of United as a football club for which I got needlessly attacked by everyone else

Not that I am saying that I am completely absolved of any blame but it takes two hands to clap. So maybe it's time you be a bit more impartial in your judgement

Oh don't be ridiculous, you have done nothing but constant pick fights over the last two weeks. Something I have repeatedly warned you about. Open up that second eye of yours and you might see.

Actually whole point is that United could afford to pay such wages to multiple players, without it affecting them. FFP actually works to our advantage. I mean we could offer an exorbitant wage to Marchisio, and it would be roughly the same as Ashley youngs wage. It wouldn't even come close to breaking the wage structure. And that's before you take into account players will be leaving the wage structure in the summer....

GodCubed you fool, where is the mention of Banega in your post? The most exciting out of them all, arguably realistic transfer as well.

I'd rather go for Ander Herrera than Marchisio, if you're paying in excess of ?25 for him why not just put a big offer in for Koke? Marchisio is in his late twenties, it would be nice if we could get someone in a younger bracket, especially while we have players like Carrick and Fletcher to smooth the transition.

Because it probably is even more unlikely with Koke in this transfer window. Mind you, I'm not saying Koke is an unrealistic target for us in the summer, but in this January window, he is. He has a good chance to win atleast 1 trophy while at Atletico this season, something which is looking rather unlikely with us. So Koke might probably a summer transfer, but, most likely, Barca will swoop on him before we can get our hands on him.. T_T

Banega is definitely a more realistic target, and if it works out, a rather excellent transfer, provided his attitude issues are corrected. I'd rather go for Koke than Herrera;; We already have Fellaini, who, if and when he gels in, can play defensively, so makes more sense to get Koke in the summer for a better attacking option..

Marchisio is only 27, how is that too old of a player? Looking at your current league form surely it might be the time to get some players who are actually at their peak, not another youngster who might (but propably wont) become world class by 2026.

Yep, we need class midfielder right now. Marchisio is in his prime and can easily last 5 or 6 seasons. 25-30m is a bargain for him.

Marchisio is the exact age of player we need. its the 25-28 range they we suffer in. Only Rooney and Evans are good enough in that age bracket.

Except Ander Herrera has already set his intentions to stay at Athletic Bilbao. He was unhappy about the situation in the summer, but has knuckled down to stay.

And plus, we already have a number of players in a younger bracket. Early-to-mid. De Gea, Smalling, Rafael, Fletcher, Jones, Zaha, Januzaj, Cleverley.

Please tell me the rumours of us going for Pogba are true.

I would be so happy.

Fletcher? I know he's like a new signing (:3), but he's 29 :D

Godcubed, was the Ekdal mention a troll? He has 7 caps for Sweden, and struggled to cope with the likes of Glenn Whelan when playing against Ireland.

Marchisio, Pogba, Koke, Vidal... I'm sure we won't sign any of these players.

There are rumors that Ever Banega is looking to move and if true and if we don't make a move then we will look like an absolute idiots.

Vidal is never going to happen. Should have signed him when he left Leverkusen and that too for just 10 Million.

And a huge facepalm at me. I just searched and found out that I'm beating this Vidal and Banega should be signed drum since 2011.

Ugh, fine fine .. I still think it's unfair to put 100% of the blame on me for all this but I am willing to draw a line and end the topic right here and now. Sorry if I offended anybody, that was never my intention

Can we please get back to who we wont sign now? And let's keep all the nastiness out form now on. It's not as if you haven't got a non existent midfield to laugh at.

Matuidi and Jucilei. They have contracts running out at the end of the season and both fit in our 'We want' profile of a player. Matuidi is clever, agile and quite pacy midfielder with good defending. Jucilei is more of a 'steel' type of player, with good technique and he's quite good on the ball. Quite mobile for a player who's 190cm as well.

I think Matuidi will sign deal with PSG. They have verbal agreement it seems. Only formalities left.
