The Manchester United Thread

Matuidi and Jucilei. They have contracts running out at the end of the season and both fit in our 'We want' profile of a player. Matuidi is clever, agile and quite pacy midfielder with good defending. Jucilei is more of a 'steel' type of player, with good technique and he's quite good on the ball. Quite mobile for a player who's 190cm as well.

Matuidi looks likely to resign with PSG and even if he doesn't there are other teams sniffing around so would need to act fast.
Also didn't Jucilei move to some team in UAE?

I think Matuidi will sign deal with PSG. They have verbal agreement it seems. Only formalities left.

**** :(

Yea, he signed yesterday apparently. **** :(

GodCubed you fool, where is the mention of Banega in your post? The most exciting out of them all, arguably realistic transfer as well.

I'd rather go for Ander Herrera than Marchisio, if you're paying in excess of ?25 for him why not just put a big offer in for Koke? Marchisio is in his late twenties, it would be nice if we could get someone in a younger bracket, especially while we have players like Carrick and Fletcher to smooth the transition.

Banega's been fooking ***** this season. He's had more yellows than goals and assists put together, and he hasn't even been making it into the team ahead of Parejo, Canales and Romeu/Pabon.

And Herrera's not been much better.

Godcubed, was the Ekdal mention a troll? He has 7 caps for Sweden, and struggled to cope with the likes of Glenn Whelan when playing against Ireland.

Ekdal's class. One game does not a bad player make. Most people would struggle against the might of Glenn Whelan tbf.

Admittedly, this season hasn't been his finest, mind.

Can we please get back to who we wont sign now? And let's keep all the nastiness out form now on. It's not as if you haven't got a non existent midfield to laugh at.

LOL YOU'RE NOT SIGNING ANYONE LOL

Marchisio would be the perfect signing - in his prime, a leader, proper box to box midfielder and has all the experience in the world on playing for a big club. However, signing him would make so much sense that I don't think it's ever going to happen.

Legit question .. Is he a genuinely good player who will probably hit new heights with better players around like like Negredo has done or is he just decidedly average?

Honestly speaking, I have barely seen him but some people really rate him so I can't figure out why he has not gotten a move to a bigger club just yet. The whole 'attitude' thing sounds bollocks to me considering the likes of Costa and Balotelli have the same problems yet they still have a number of suitors

More likely it can't happen. It will take a lot to convince Marchisio to move from Juventus, a club challenging for the title and virtually assured of CL next season, to Manchester United. He would be a more plausible target in the summer

Well, he's not getting much playtime and its WC year. Marchisio's a local lad, so that's about the only thing that can motivate him to leave. Probably now or never (unless you can offer City level wages then its a different story :P )

You got a point there ... Still feel it's a long shot at best and United would be better served casting their eye at other more plausible targets

I dunno really. He was always very promising, and he was their best player the year before last, and one of their best last year. As Valencia have lost key players, he's got worse, so maybe it IS a case of "plays better with better players around him". Not sure how that'd help him at United though. :P

On the other hand, he lost out on the two places he could compete for in the squad to two separate players. Canales is talented and a better fit for the trequartista role than him, but he lost a straight up fight with Dani Parejo for the regista berth. Now I like Parejo and he's a good player, but losing out to him isn't a promising situation.

Not a bad point, actually.

Kovacic

Was isolated when he played as AM against Chievo but once he dropped deeper he was class. Everything good Inter did (which was very little) he was at the center. Looked exhausted at times which is worrying as PL is lot lot quicker then Serie A.

Apparently Pogba talking **** about United and Juve saying they don't want to sell. No real surprise <)

Marchisio turns 28 this sunday (same birthday as me, gifts welcome ^^)). Would love to see him at United

Bild reporting that ManUtd and Madrid have made offer for Gundogan. I just checked the translated version and there was 30 Million figure which I'm taking it as the bid we made.

Not a hope that we can get him as Madrid are strong favorites, that is if he won't sign the new contract.

Aye I thought Alonso/Khedira were on the way out with Gundogan the replacement over there? Shame really, I think Utd could easily get back into the top four with another CM to sit alongside Fletcher/Carrick, even if they dropped 25m on a 'signable player' right now.

Just seen talk of Hamsik (nothing credible yet anyway)

What would people think of him as an option? Not watched him this year but last year he was class for Napoli!

26 Years old so a decent age, but not really a center mid. Not sure what he would be likely to cost though. Would not be cheap

Alonso signed a new contract. But Khedira is crocked.

Hamsik wil never leave Napoli same way Marchisio will never leave Juve!

Hamsik? People have been linking him to us for so long (for around 3 years?) and he still have yet to join us means we are probably not going to sign him. The same thing goes for Sneijder, but let's refrain from talking about him...

Hamsik would cost north of 50m. De Laurentis doesn't **** around.
