As a consequence of that Mata’s advisers, including his father Juan senior, have flown in from Spain in the hope of closing the deal within the next 48 hours.
Senior sources at United confirmed to Telegraph Sport today that talks were continuing to progress. The club want to remain cautious as they are mindful of the criticism they would receive if the move collapsed after failed bids last summer for Cesc Fabregas and Gareth Bale.
Discussions have reached a detailed stage and sources said that there were still “two or three” matters that needed to be resolved but they did not expect these to be insurmountable.
Mata was conspicuous by his absence at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground today as the rest of the first-team squad were put through their paces by manager Jose Mourinho who is understood to have sanctioned the move if an acceptable price - ?37million - is agreed.

According to Chelsea TV the only person who didn't train today was Torres.

Zaha is moving to Cardiff on loan. One more reason to watch them in PL. Ole, Eikrem and Zaha. If Mats joins them then even better.

Good move hope it works out and plays most games, and comes back ready for next season. Read Fabio going on loan to Wolfsberg the other day.

Or that Zaha got tired of being a reserve substitute, had a fight with the management and asked to get loaned. Anything is possible, atleast based on those rumours.

Back to the main transfer news, Mata deal still sounds surreal, and I'm still wondering why they're selling to United, if they're selling to United. Although, Mata deal would temporarily alleviate the glaring need for a good winger.

We still need that LB, CM and if Vidic is leaving, CB. Hopefully, we get some useful players in the summer. Dede is linked to both us and City, and would probably be a better option than Dante, considering the age factor. Moreno was another player linked to us, although he seems to have a hefty pricetag. As for CM, too too much smoke, but not enough fire :\
