I'm not sure why United are signing Mata. No doubt he's a world class player and they aren't available very often but I can't see why you would keep Rooney and Mata as they both prefer to play in the 10 role.. so I guess Rooney will be off in the summer.

Despite this United are still, apparently, failing to actually strengthen the areas they need to. Seems odd.

And some bad ones. Managers identity might not matter to some youngster who only just started to shave. But for the very top players who can basically pick any club they want, it propably matters the most right after money. Just look how much Bayern's pulling power increased when Guardiola was announced as new manager.

Didn't they just get in 2 players? Far as I believe, Thiago transfer was because he had worked with, and liked Guardiola, and hence went there. Gotze wanted to challenge for more trophies, or just wanted to move to Bayern, since it is apparently considered the Holy Grail of German clubs..

Thiago transfer, I believe, was more towards familiarity of manager, rather than pull. And Munich would obviously have more pull, considering they won everything. Doesn't necessarily invalidate the point about the manager.
 
What will happen if, at the end of the season, Rooney wants to leave and so does Kagawa?

I highly doubt we'll let Rooney leave. Probably wait out his contract to end, if he wants to leave that bad. If that does happen, however, we need to buy wingers. Januzaj and Mata behind the striker, and maybe a couple of good, young wingers, and we shouldn't have too many problems. We have Lingard coming up the ranks too, although I don't know how good he is.

a RW, LB, CM and CB needs to be added in the next 2 seasons, If Rooney wants to leave he will, he's had United cave twice over his contract i don't see what the wouldnt back down if he wanted to leave.

I like Mata, id be more worried, clearly Jose doesnt see United as a threat for this year or next.

If it's to a Premier League rival, I highly doubt they'd let him move, preferring to wait out his contract. If it's to a foreign club, then I dunno. CB, LB and CM are a given, I was just addressing the situation if Rooney and Kagawa want to leave.

CM and LB won't be possible this window, so we'll have to strengthen in the summer. Dede and Mangala are in United's radar apparently, for CB. Griezmann and Draxler for wingers;; I know di Maria was linked to us too, but there were rumours that if he decides to move, it'd be to Juventus, since Tevez is also there. CM is the one I'm most worried about. Gundogan, we'll probably have to battle it out with Madrid, and that's obviously not going to be easy, since they simply throw away cash. Koke's new deal means he's too expensive to get. Vidal won't be easy.. CM is the position I'm most worried about, actually.
 
Mangala will look great in Sky Blue.. :)

Greiz i would have said was on Chelsea radar, as rumoured but with Salah, not so sure now. Draxler will end up at Arsenal, if not thats just hilarious theyve been courting him for half a year..

So your looking at Dede with having to pay OTT or fight madrid? ****. M'Yila and Blaise Matuidi is looking to move, you could do worse.

If Rooney leaves Kagawa will almost certainly stay. the latter is actually happy but wants more consistent game time.

Rooney wants Chelsea, we could well run down the contract if he doesn't sign. Less concerned about that right now. We need 3 players in the summer in more crucial areas, possible a 4th wide player. 2 or 3 out, promote some youth.
 
1. Last nite's match was ridiculous - beyond depressing.
2. Its obvious that Moyes cant motivate players for toffee and has allowed them to become so shot of competence they cant score more than one pen.
3. Mata is a great addition if used well but we need more players - I really hope that Moyes is the man to mould them into a team but I doubt it.
4. Its true we need a cb (Evans has regressed and Smalling has not developed enuff. We also need to get rid of valencia and young and get in two wingers plus a combative dm (how I d love to see vidal in the shirt tho I dont think he ll ever come).

Evans hasn't regressed at all been very very good, and easily of the best players at the club.

Not sure how you can blame the pens on Moyes. Sorry they are not babies, the pens are on them.

I forgot taking Suderland to pens is an achievement. You know full well Cabaye would be desperate for any move with a team in Champions League as well, if we went to Newcastle and made a good enough offer, pretty sure Mike Ashley wouldn't give 2 Monkey's banana's about a so called verbal agreement between Pardew and Cabaye.

Oh and I'm sorry..... but.... no one saw us signing Mata... so bringing up the whole "we wouldn't sign anyone" thing is a bit stupid because a) Mata isn't a United player yet and B) No one saw this one coming.

What has the sunderland game got to do with this?

Except he isn't desperate to move in Jan, and that's kind of the point. He will leave, but in the summer. I don't get how that is hard to grasp for you. Er the agreement isn't with Pardew, but with the board. Cabaye actually said that he would commit to the end of the season, and decide his future then. How much would you want to pay to test that? 30? 35m? 40? Because they shot down 22.5 for him immediately from Arsenal.

Exactly, no one saw us getting Mata, and yet here we are with him flying for his medical tomorrow. Maybe you should actually wait and see next time? You said we wouldn't sign anyone and we are currently signing anyone. Pretty sure I get to make that point. whether anyone saw it coming or not is irrelevant, and its actually a good thing that the club kept it quiet till the last moments.

Yeh and as good a player Mata is.. he's not really strengthening our weaknesses. We need a CM and LB urgently, if United can splash that on Mata with Rooney/Januzaj/Kagawa all capable playing of the same position, then they can splash ?30m or whatever it would take for someone we desperately need in a CM position.

Plus Carrick out for roughly 3 weeks... we're near bare bones right now.
 
I hope we sign no one, and it drives you so crazy you stop supporting United.

Being stupid now... how can you deny that with us splashing ?37m or whatever on a player we don't need (on paper) then how spending that or more on a player we do need.. such as a CM is suddenly absurd???
