The Manchester United Thread

After first Arsenal and now City got absolutely murdered by Dortmund's and Bayern's backup squads, I'd say it would take **** of a lot more then Herrera/Blind/Di Maria to seriously compete in CL again.

Arsenal had a non existent game plan and midfield. And Yaya did his typical don't track anyone speil.

Not really relevant to us though. Just because they struggled, doesnt mean we are suddenly short

We'll still probably add at least one more mid, probably two depending on Fletch as well.

Next summer? Most assuredly. Carrick and Ando's contracts are up. We're still trying to flog Fellaini. So assume at least one in.

Yet the trio you mention are big game players. Especially Herrera and certainly Di Maria.

Blind, Herrera, Di Maria is a very strong midfield by all accounts. If you want to add more to that, you add around it (defence and attack)

I'm not saying I don't think it's good, infact I think on paper it's one of the best in the league and I'd take it over City's Fernando, Toure and Fernandinho any day of the week.

But my point is Strootman is a brilliant all-round CM, if he recovers well from his injury we should definitely still make him a priority, Anderson should be 100% gone sooner rather than later, same with Fellaini and Fletcher if truth be told.

My only big question is whether Blind will cope in faster paced games with stronger attacking teams.

When you get the likes of a David Silva or Oscar.

You'll know by October end.. Until then, we can only put faith in Blind, since he actually has performed pretty consistently till date for Ajax and Netherlands..

I'll tell you one thing though.. If we don't keep Rafael fit, we're royally screwed, whatever maybe Blind's performance.. There's literally no proper backup for Rafael, whereas Shaw, Rojo and Blackett all can contend for LB..

Indeed, I have faith and couldn't of asked for a better debut.

How is it not relevant? It kind of shows you how inadequate your depth is, when Bayern can miss most of their iconic players and City still cannot touch them with their near-best lineup.

Top european teams really went to the next level in terms of squad depth in last 2-3 years.

Varane just signed new contract apparently with a mega release clause. Shame thought would of been an option if we fail with Hummels.

Good article there, and I agree with it 100%. I don't understand why people suddenly think Januzai is done at united. We have a manager known world over for developing future talents, a world class attacking outfit for him to learn from and he is at the most prolific club in the world when it comes to bringing in youth prospects. All of which was mentioned in that article.
He will be a fantastic player for us one day. Just because that day is today doesnt mean we should get rid of him

Well no it doesnt. Causation does not equal correlation. Arsenal and City having a mare does not mean United will.

City and Arsenal lost for entirely different reasons.
