And in doing so strengthened ourselves furrther. Are we a better wide with Falcao than we are with Welbeck?

That's a good question and one that won't be answered right now or is it a simple answer.

But the answer could very well be no, as Welbeck is one of the best players we had in terms of linking up play and teamwork and work rate.

Falcao is a predator and should bag goals, but in terms of for the actual team, Welbeck is very useful.

Ya. Not as clear answer as it would seem. Welbeck, if nothing else, is an excellent utility player. Falcao for all we know might lose the competition with Ronney and RVP, and that's about it when it comes to his contribution.

Except Chelsea none of the big teams have started well. We really missed the chance losing points against weaker teams. Hopefully today we make the result count, otherwise Liverpool losing yesterday means **** all.

Also today would be very good test for us, QPR at home is the easiest fixture we could have asked for, but Leicester are different. They were good against Arsenal, Chelsea, Stoke, Everton. They are very organised team. They have many ex ManUtd players too.
De Laet, Drinkwater, Matty James, Powell on loan, Lawrence, Danny Simpson.

Used to love Matty James player for reserves. He was excellent. Shame about his injuries though.

Still, selling Welbeck to a top 4 rival when trying to get back in to the top 4 and they are desperate on deadline day is just still utter madness to me.

Refuse to sell him to a top 4 rival and if no one else or he wouldn't go anywhere else, happily keep him for the season, would of still been a useful option to have.

But my point is, if we lost out on top 4 and Arsenal made it, wouldn't that just have leave ourselves to blame. We strengthened one of our biggest rivals with someone they desperately needed.

Not sure what the problem is. Welbeck wanted to leave. He wanted to join Arsenal only. Like it or not we are changing the whole team and players who are not part of the plan or wants to leave will be shown the door.

I was a big fan of Welbeck and I wanted him to start the game over RVP or Rooney but after the signings we made it's madness to moan about the loss of 1 player everytime he had a good game.

Only issue I had was the transfer fee. It was deadline and Arsenal had no one lined up. We should have got much higher fee. End of the day we should respect players decision too, that too the players who stayed with club for years.

Welbeck can play as LW or a CF. Is he better LW than Di Maria? No. Is he better striker than Falcao? No.

Arsenal sold us RVP so not sure what the problem is in selling Welbeck to Arsenal. They refused to sell us vermaelen which worked in favor of us. He is not good enough and reliable enough fitness wise to sign him. At least going by Sporting fans Rojo will be a immense player for us in future.

Also after spending 150 Million if we lose out top 4 then it's not because of selling Welbeck to Arsenal. We can only blame overselves. How can you blame any outgoing transfer when we have a team players like Rafael, Jones, Shaw, De Gea, Herrera, Di Maria, Mata, RVP, Rooney, Falcao. If we don't reach top 4 then it's players and LVG fault.

I'm surprised that no paper has criticised Liverpool for how ***** they have been this season, but once Man Utd lose one game they'll go into overdrive about how we spent 150 million and are still *****.

Like they had much of a choice? RVP was like 29 and refused to extend a contract with 1 year left. £24m for him is still very good money.

You keep missing the point, Arsenal were DESPERTAELY in need of a player like Welbeck and we just handed him to them on deadline day in the final moments... despite knowing it could very well fire them into top 4 again.

Yes we've got a relatively good team with some good players, but Falcao doesn't offer what Welbeck does to a team, but he does offer goals... obviously.

If we miss out on top 4 we only have ourselves to blame in MORE than ONE aspect, Welbeck still had a contract and we could of let it run for another year, rather than giving into his demands that COULD effect us this season.

Not forgetting we could very well need a top 3 place finish this year to ensure CL because if one team automatically qualifies via another way like Everton winning the Europa League I think that means 4th spot doesn't count.

I was bit dissapionted that Welbeck went to start off with but not to fussed now tbh! Would rather the players we have now up top than Welbeck at the end of the day the STR main job is to score goals simple as, and Welbeck will never be a top finisher in my eyes anyway. If we don't get in the top 4 it wont be for the fact that we sold Welbeck to Arsenal, he wont make the difference like when we signed RVP from them! Anyway good luck to him on his new career at Arsenal!

That's hardly fair on the player though. He basically has zero chance of playing with Rooney, RVP and Falcao ahead of him. At this stage in his career, Welbeck needs to get on the pitch and preferredly play in his favoured position which is centre forward. Yes it's not ideal that he ended up at Arsenal but personally I would rather see that happen instead of making a fan favourite like him sit in the stands for one season

He wouldn't be sitting in the stands, in a 2 striker formation he'd get opportunities.

Not without CL.

How?

If all Rooney and RVP and Falcao stay fit through the season which is highly unlikely then he'd be on the bench but if one of them got injured he'd quite easily be needed, even if Mata got injured Rooney would drop to no.10 and Welbeck would be needed.

Not to mention RVP's in **** form of late.

1 game a week cant see the STRs getting to many injuries tbh, plus LVG seems to rate Wilson as a STR before Welbeck which is good enough for me as I like to see youth come through! Also LVG has said that Januzaj has been used in training as a STR and can easily play there. Good luck Welbeck but will not be missed by me tbh.

I won't really "miss" him, but I still don't like the fact we've risked it by letting him go to Arsenal when we could of let them continue to suffer with Sanogo up front and give ourselves the best possible chance of getting into top 4 with a weakened rival.

Maybe its just me but I really cant see him making that much a difference for them. There CM is unbalanced and has no Defensive part to it and there Defence is just shocking!

If Arsenal ends up in top 4 then they deserve it. Yes selling Welbeck to them helped them but at the end of the day you have to make tough decisions. Do you want unhappy player who isn't fully committed to the cause at the club? I'm not criticizing Welbeck here but if we go by what's reported then he was not at all happy. Moyes talked about his training performance, few journos also posted about Welbeck's training that he was not training like before.

He wanted out from last year, why do you want manager to retain unhappy player who was not first choice? You have to think from player perspective too, these are very important years for him, he don't want to spend that on bench. He wanted to play as CF and regularly and club at least did what was good for both parties.

James Wilson will get games instead and I for one am very happy with that.

Welbeck was 4th choice behind Rooney, Falcao, RVP. There is no way any ambitious young striker would agree to stay on bench forever or end up playing in different position.

Naw, Welbeck can still make an impact for Arsenal. Can link up and get other players into play. And don't forget the fact that when he got a good run of games as a striker for us last season, he was almost goal a game.

I still dislike the fact that Welbeck was sold to Arsenal of all teams. Especially a fan favourite, to Arsenal. But I guess, in the end, we really didn't have much a choice.//

I'd quite happily argue Welbeck and Rooney/Falcao would be a much more effective partnership than RVP and Rooney together or Rooney and Falcao.

Welbeck offers a lot off the ball and to the team in general. Fantastic at linking-up play, with someone like Falcao would of been pretty effective in my book.
