Hi fellow united fans been a while since my last post but from tonights game I have seen how imbalanced our squad is its unbelievable OK I'm going to try to dissect this.
Defensively we have no natural leader whats worseis that the back four/three are chopping and changing week in week out plus the space between the defence and midfield was unacceptable we were caught out a few times because no one was available and they tried to play out which didn't really work due to the pressing Southampton put us under, now from what I have seen from Rojo is he doesn't look confident in being physical and seem to
hesitate when the ball is in the air. Smalling, Jones and Evans well always injured and inconsistent. Wingbacks well lack of depth really when fit Shaw and Rafael are really good attacking wise but Rafael is a bit rash, having young and Valencia doesn't fill me with confidence at all wherever they play but they will have to do for now.
Midfield: Well lack of energy in midfield was evident a lack of movement we really need Herrera needs to stay fit and we really need di Maria's pace but then you have blind who's better defensively than fellaini who I see as a target man which can be useful but not United quality. Rooney and Mata I feel it is one or the other and I feel due to his captaincy Rooney wins but they are two different players Mata is a playmaker but would need a defensively solid structure to express himself freely and on our current form not happening anytime soon I know he can play on the wings but I feel he would leave the wing backs exposed. Rooney on the other hand has more energy and will track back more often and can provide a moment of absolute brilliance on occasion but is not a natural playmaker and LVG doesn't see him as a striker. Carrick and Fletcher are decent cover but Fletcher is not as good as he used to be and Carrick is not getting any younger but will be useful till the end of the season. We do have Januzai who can be quality in the future but he needs game time and I do have faith in LVG and we have Pereira also a good prospect just hope they get games.
Forwards: This position seems to be covered but really hasn't been any good Rvp had a good game today and will be crucial if he continues in this form. Falcao has been disappointing although he hasn't been fit for a while so can't comment just yet. Wilson really excites me he brings that youthful energy that is needed to the team and think he will be a great player in the future.
All in all i think what we need is a commanding centre back such as Shawcross. For full backs possibly Clyne or Coleman but doubt it. Mid we need someone like Strootman. The key to reaching top 4 is a consistant back four and being fit but that's my opinion I might be wrong but hey I ain't a football manager.
