The Manchester United Thread

Still not sure how people can't all agree it was another dreadful display along with the countless others this season, i mean our whole xmas period and fa cup game was one massive shitfest.

Ok except the newcastle game.

I don't think anyone is saying this was a great performance..............................

Sure. Let's just sack him. Ignore the fact that the system has worked for other teams fine. Just sack him, get another manager, he'll probably do about as well, sack him. We are now Chelsea. Fun.
I think the quote about if you sack LVG you will be now Chelsea, I would like to say we have sacked our managers but we have still won trophies, We have sacked them for not winning certain trophies, I mean sacking robbie di matteo for winning the Champo league was a joke but we still went on to win trophies, Just saying :)

That system just doesn't work in England. I can't think of a team in recent years that have had success in England using 3/5 at the back. Mancini tested it at City and it failed, Martinez used it at Wigan but they shipped goals. Personally I think United are suited to either a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-2-3-1 system, with Rooney playing off RVP.

Please someone for my own amusement name me 5 performances that matched the result this season? and not poor ones as that would be far too easy.

The winner gets an invisible galaxy bar.

Oh yeah, my bad, you just said it was a sackable offence if it was any other manager. So why is Van Gaal exempt from that judgement?

First, so you agree that I didn't say that Van Gaal should be sacked?

Second, Van Gaal has a proven track record so for any mistake he makes we can give year or 2 easily. When Moyes made similar or even smaller mistakes, people called for his head.

Needless to say, a lot of the problems we know of now could of been solved last summer, the luxury signing of Falcao shadowed a lot of it, but the glaring lack of a quality CB and FB was obvious then, just as it is now.

Our best potential fullback Varela sold to Real Madrid. Great stuff.
Falcao was not really a luxury signing we needed a STR. I agree with the lack of quality in defence not the players as such but the constant chaging. But defo need a RB and top CB!

Agree the system is rubbish over here.

From top of my head,

QPR - We were brilliant
Newcastle
Hull - One of the most complete performance.
Stoke - Scoreline flatter stoke. We should have scored 4 or 5.

That's it maybe.

These i agree with but just look at the opposition.

Yeah. Also what many forget is our run in the last 2 months. It's awful and there are so many games where we might even get 0 points in 3 games. So we should stop dropping these silly points.

I know we have not been the best performance wise, but still think we will get top 4. We need to get players fully fit and and hopefully when we do that it will bring better performances. And LVG can then start to settle on a favoured 11.

It won't bring performances in this restrictive LVG system and zero tempo no matter who is fit.

Btw there are few positives. Mata looked good, yeah he missed chances but his overall play was good. Blind coming back was huge. He played well.

Maybe not. But if LVG don't trust us defensively what can he do. Will have to see if can get players in now or wait till summer. Before we see a change in formation. Or maybe he will bin 3 at the back like at start of season.

Not huge if we can't fit him into midfield because all our other weaknesses are prohibiting us from doing so, yeh ok he can play CB or wing back or whatever but he's exploited there due to his lack of pace. I think Carrick and Blind in the same team just won't work.

If it's true LVG doesn't think Herrera is strong enough for PL then we need Strootman A.S.A.P this window and FB/CB so we can get out of using these crappy 3 at the back formations.

Shaw and Rafael constantly pick up injuries as do our current CB's, who just aren't good enough anyway.

These are problems that could have been solved in the summer and if we don't strengthen in January then miss out on top 4 you can hardly say we don't deserve it when we have relied on a squad with 2 fullbacks and the muppets in defence like Evans to be a key part of the foundation in our team when losing all the quality/leadership/experience we had last summer.
