The Manchester United Thread

Weird to see these kind of posts from Chelsea fans and especially from you when you think even if Jose farts that's something tactical.

Whenever someone makes a post like this, I always wonder how they would respond if I claimed that I was a neutral like Tyton

Then I realize that they would not say anything because they know I am right and that's why they have to resort to ad hominem attacks instead of rebutting the point in and of itself. Btw I wasn't saying you had your head up LVG's ***. You actually criticize him heavily unlike other Utd fans who find a multitude of excuses to defend his poor record

Agreed, we have to give time for Van Gaal. If we sack then we are back to where we were after Fergie retired. Whatever work he has done for a year and time invested is all waste of time. Again players will have to adapt to new methods and new manager might not fancy all the players.

It's better to give time than act just sack every manager.

So if you don't finish in the Top 4, you are still okay with keeping LVG because sacking him would waste time and force professional soccer players the huge trouble of adapting to new methods?

Thats a rather arbitrary distinction. Common sense only dictates for extreme examples such as Messi. What about all the players in the middle of the spectrum? For example, if tomorrow if Reus follows Chelsea on Instagram, does that mean he is on his way to Stamford Bridge despite having so many suitors? Hard to discern this with 'common sense' right?

If tomorrow someone makes a post using who Reus follows on Instagram as a indication of which club he is going to, I would laugh him out of the room

Simply following a club or player on social media should never be used as an indicator of said players future plans. That's exactly what PA1111 pointed out. Obviously posting a pic specifically talking about a transfer is a different story. Stop conflating the two and calling others ridiculous

Common sense, Dragovic is linked with move and there are rumors that it is very close to done deal, so in this case I would say there is something going on. Comparing that to random person following superstar is pathetic.

I would be for 1 more season. Nothing to say another manager will get it right in one season, I don't think any manager should be gone after 1 season buts that's just me.

Apologies. I thought their was just some general rumours linking him with a move but if their are strong, credible links then fair enough. I thought you just posted a random picture of his instagram following to try and add credence to general rumours. Btw I wasn't the one making comparisons of a random person following a superstar ;)

I think their is a balance that needs to be struck. On one hand, you don't want to be a club that sacks managers at the first sign of trouble but on the other hand, you don't want to keep blind faith in a manager that is taking you nowhere

Considering how much LVG spent, the fact that he is only involved in two competitions and the squad he has. I would sack him if he didn't finish top 4 but that's just me. Same way I believe Jose should be sacked if he ends the season trophyless

lol, that's called calling hypocrite a hypocrite. Preach what you practice, when someone like you makes post like "following manager blindly" it's just laughable and it's rightly pointed out. Like you said I criticized Van Gaal just like I did for Moyes when IMO what he was doing was wrong but that doesn't mean I don't point out the double standard posts.

Yes but then again it depends on lot of factors like making some progress or showing signs of progress. Whatever transfer plans were made in 12 months were ripped up because we changed manager and rightly so. So I don't want one more year full of excuse like "give him time". His track record shows he will get it right more often that not.

Btw Van Gaal has valid excuses this season, injury problems are nightmare.

Yeah I know it was PA1111, so I called his comparison pathetic. Not your posts. ;)

1. And when exactly have I followed Jose blindly. Do some Chelsea fans do that? Most certainly yes. If you want me to continually criticize Jose more then I am sorry, I just can't do that when Chelsea have only lost thrice this season and are top of the league playing fantastic football most of the time

2. It's his track record which is why it's so baffling on why he can't get any sort of run going. His track record means we should be harder on him, not easier. I would sack him if he doesn't make Top 4 but that's just my opinion. Also to be fair, can't injury problems at least partly be attributed to United rather than just outright bad luck?

1. Last season when he said you were some little horse when you lost games against smaller teams which meant you could have won the league. Last season it was pointed out in Chelsea thread a lot.

2. Not sure on injury problems, it's not just Van Gaal. We have this crisis from last 5 years, managers players are changed but the crisis is still there. Not sure whom to blame.

He got a run going but it was bit smaller run, also injury crisis means he couldn't field same 11 for run of games. Compare how many games Chelsea defense played and their starting 11 and that will United defense and starting 11.

1. Let's be fair, he was saying that in comparison to Manchester City who had an amazing squad with all of their key players in their prime age (25-30). Whereas he had a terribly unbalanced squad with no proper striker and no proper midfielder (Matic only arrived in January) with many of his key players (Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle, Azpilicueta) still developing and young. Not to mention he was engaging in 4 competitions with this unbalanced squad and did fairly well (Comfortably Top 4 throughout the season and CL semi's). That's much more than what LVG is currently managing to achieve with a similar quality squad

2. Fair enough although his tactics isn't exactly helping his cause either

In the last few games Chelsea had the chance to win the league but they dropped points against smaller teams.

ManUtd attacking is of similar quality or even better but team is not stable because of injuries, especially injuries to key players and defenders.

Yes we had a chance to win the league which actually shows how good Mourinho was last season. Almost winning the league with no striker and no proper midfield which is why the ridicule he was receiving was crazy. The team didn't almost win the league because they were that good but because Mourinho made them look far better than they were. Remember this is the same team whose title challenge fizzled out by November under RDM the previous season before Jose came

I swear we talk more about other teams than Man Utd in this thread.

very good season?? a hand full of games isnt a very good season he believed his own hype

He was good last season and stood out in a bad bunch, as a liveprool fan i doubt you should know this unless you watched united every week or so which would be strange.

Then again we were ***** so you probably enjoyed it.
