Oh and Laporte has a release clause, no real excuse if we want him why we haven't got him. I can just see us buying him in the summer...... ironically...

Because he's cost just as much as the player we actually want. Spanish release clauses are also not straightforward. If they dont want to sell he will be a lot more than his release clause

jb8521@jb_8521 Follow Van Gaal "with the 532 concede less but we havent created enough chances so now I return to the 442

Cue us getting hammered in the next 2-3 games and us changing again, why does it have to be a variation of a 442? one striker systems imo would work much better for us but yes we don't have the wingers and it would mean one or two of rvp, falcao or rooney would be dropped.

I like Cuadrado, but he is way down the pecking order in what we need. It seems people just want any old signing. Complain about the loan signing of Falcao (hint, its to monitor and control rehab ahead of any major deal) and Di Maria WHO IS THE DYNAMIC ATTACKING CENTRE WE ALL WANTED but then want any jan deal. What?! We need signings, but not just any random ones. All that does is waste summer money, which will be expensive enough as it is. There is enough to get us top 4, the fact is the system we are playing is not getting best from us at all.

The problem is having two of Rooney RVP Falcao playing. Personally i would go 4-2-3-1, but that requires Januzaj and Di Maria on the wing, and Rooney/Herrera in the hole

Guess Mata could do a job on the right or left but it's not ideal.

The fact of the matter comes down to this, we won't effectively be able to play any 4 at the back formation because we only have two proper fullbacks and our wide talent is lacking as well, sure you can say Mata plays there but I've never been a fan, Di Maria looks better more centrally.

I'm not saying January signings are easy, but City and Chelsea have stengthened paying big money to get someone who will improve them and we can make all the excuses in the world, but it won't mean a thing if we don't make top 4. Also I think we're clutching at straws a bit saying we wouldn't take Cuadrado, he'd be brilliant as a utility player for us covering a range of wide positions with much better quality than the options we have now (bar perhaps Di Maria, but he hasn't been great and I prefer him more centrally). Not to mention the lack of players we have there, even as a wingback in 3-5-2 etc. He'd give us options we don't effectively have.

A lot of our weaknesses have not just come about, they've been around since last summer (and before) but weren't addressed.
We are unbalanced, lacking quality to get any real consistent performances due to the areas of formations and the players we have in certain positons just aren't effective enough, or we lack any depth if they get injured, we revert straight back to 3 at the back again.

Why pay all that money for a utility player. That's just silly! And at the same time take money out of our budget in the summer, where we will be spending on better players.

We need key signings not utility players and they are not available in jan the players LVG wants. I get fed up players playing out of possition how about we sign players and play them in there natural role. There are better wingers out there than him and better FBs than him!

Money isn't an object according to Woody and I think we best concentrate on this season getting into the CL as a priority rather than what may or may not happen in the summer, it's all hearsay, sure there may be a few decent players available but will they leave their clubs if we're out of Champions League once again, will they have more tempting offers, all debatable stuff. The top players will be chased by the biggest clubs such as Reus etc.

money is an issue. Yes we may have a lot to spend like last summer, Lvg has his targets and won't just sign anyone.
