The Manchester United Thread

It takes upto a year to fully recover from an ACL. By recover I mean back to playing ability, not just fitness. Whether it's here or elsewhere, you wont see the best of Falcao till next season. Only reason he is at the club is to monitor and control his recovery ahead of any potential purchase. Club will know exactly what his medical state will be like, as opposed to him being at Monaco this season

Obviously not football but numerous MMA fighters who have had bad ACL or knee injuries have never ever came back the same fighter and that's even with the amount of steroids used to help/speed the healing process.

Most likely a good bunch of footballers who have came back just as good but at his age i can't see him back to even an ounce of his atleti/porto days the explosiveness just won't be there. Would still do a job though, just not here i hope as the hipster in me wants a lacazette, dybala or someone who could be or is a gem and that's talisca but probably more of a midfielder at this point.

we dont need "could be gems though" We will lose one top level striker this summer in all likelyhood, maybe 2. That has to be replaced. No matter what their rep is, whoever comes in has to be able to deliver almost 30 goals a season, assuming Rooney isnt used to that.

Can't wait to see United one day featuring Januzaj, Wilson and Pereira.

Going to be interviewing Graeme Bailey about the season so far, rest of the season and the summer transfer window. Any questions you'd like me to ask?

Looking forward to article! Would like to know whats happening with Pereira,Vareala and Henriquez? And how much we can spend this Summer with and without CL, and still be in line with FFP. And the summer window :P

RVP has shown he is top class once in a blue moon this season, also was pretty gash last season and falcao hasn't shown anything hernandez or welbeck wouldn't except somehow keeping fans onside from the start regardless of his performances, a punt on a talisco or dybala wouldn't be the worse thing. Would rather we signed depay though if it's a choice between a winger/att mid or a striker as we obviously need better players at cb, rb and cm.

Yes, thats the whole point. We're missing about 20 goals this season. We need to replace that. A "punt" is not what we need. We need the 20 goals that RVP hasnt given us.

Aye i see what you're saying now, Rooney up top and a proper midfielder in midfield might have give us a few more goals but that's just another maybe. Few occasions though i've watched rvp and falcao miss some right sitters or even tough chances that rvp of old would smash in but just not happening this year.

Exactly. I dont care where the player comes from, but we have to replace that, one way or the other. Ideally in my opinion, it would come from the wing. Very much with you on Depay, along with a partner for Rojo (Hummels) and a right back.

Manchester United @ManUtd Follow Louis van Gaal tells #MUTV he will "wait and see" over Jones and Blind ahead of facing Preston but Carrick has had a minor setback.

No blind or carrick against anyone = no party, easy days work for their midfield.

Terrible news for Will Keane! Feel so sorry for the lad was doing well at Wednesday. :( Saidy Janko had another good game for Bolton yesterday!

My predicted 11 against Preston-

4411

De Gea
McNair-Smalling-Rojo-Shaw
Valencia-Herrera-Fellaini-Di Maria
Rooney
Falcao

Or maybe swap Mata for Rooney if LVG wants to rest him like in previous FA Cup games.

I think he'll try his back 3 system again if young is fit to play using valencia and young as wing backs and a back 3 of mcnair, smalling and rojo.

Im hoping for Wilson upfront so I think he'll go for a front 2 because he usually does when Wilson starts. So Wilson and RVP/Falcao upfront.

Midfield 3 of Fellaini, Herrera and Mata

Yeah possibly though have seen Young not quite 100% and and rumours that he wants to stick with a diamond as we create more just needs to find right balance. Think he said this in his press conference as well. TBH cant see us playing a back 3 again but that's just me.

On a roll this weekend for predictions. Liverpool, Arsenal, Bradford, Villa, Blackburn to name a few so i'll go ahead and say 2-1 preston or 1-1.
