Strange unless we'll give him another loan and get a few mil for him because he's bang average.

Not a bad thing by the club. He showed he has ability on tour and early on in season. Club will give him another year most probs out on loan at a good level. If he fails to develop he will be sold.

You always put him in your lists of players you want gone, but guess it doesn't make much of a difference if he's just backup.

He didn't show that much ability imo, we barely played anyone and then he looked terrible at leicester and hasn't featured much or looked all that good since.

I would get rid if was up to me, will be good enough back up but I would sell him and Evans. Loan out Mc Nair next season to help his development and get games week in week out. Bring in 1 experienced CB and 1 young CB then have Smalling,Jones,Rojo.

Keep Mcnair or i guess loan and sell both or one of evans and jones then sign marquinhos/laporte and hummels but can't see that as we need a midfielder badly along with a rb and possibly a winger/forward so probably just one cb.

My list would be Clyne,Laporte,Depay,Pogba,Lacazette or Dybala

Anyone from morgan to verratti to gundogan to koke to pogba would do for me cm wise, i know they are all quite different players so it depends on what we'll want.

Agree on the rest especially dybala or lacazette.

Yes some good CMs out there. Should forget about Strootman now. Has hardly played and still having problems with his knee. Kondogbia,Coleman,Marquinhos,Gimenez are players i would not mind either and maybe Illaramendi from Madrid rumours are he is most probs gone in the summer. Don't think we will be short of targets anyways.

Van Persie will miss the Arsenal cup game through injury. Out for two weeks. Big opportunity for Wilson, provided Di María isn't deployed off the front again.

Blessing in disguise for Falcao.

Manchester United @ManUtd Follow Good luck to Brian McClair, who leaves #mufc after 13 years on the coaching staff. He joins the Scottish FA as Performance Director.

Manchester United will listen to offers for Rafael da Silva at the end of the season, with Louis van Gaal holding talks with senior figures this week over the Old Trafford futures of a further 10 players.

Van Gaal, the United manager, has spoken with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to discuss contract renewals and sales of players, including Rafael, David de Gea, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.

And with Rafael entering the final 12 months of his contract this summer and United maintaining a strong interest in Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne, Van Gaal is ready to sell the 24-year-old, who has not played since the FA Cup third-round win at Yeovil.

Manchester United @ManUtd Follow Speaking in his press conference, van Gaal says on van Persie's injury: "An ankle problem takes a long time - it’s not one or two weeks."

Is this an opportunity for Radamel Falcao to start against Sunderland? “The possibility is higher of course because when a striker is away another has to play. I never give you any openings [in terms of who he will play] so we will have to wait and see.”

On Tyler Blackett and Reece James signing new contracts: “It is the strategy of the club. When I came here there they told me that they wanted to have more youth academy players in the first-team. Also the rule in the Premier League that you must have a certain amount of players in your own squad is also important. I am happy that we can sign players from our youth academy.”

On United’s progress: “It is our objective to reach the top four, we have talked about that in the start of the job here in Manchester United. It is also a process of three years and when you have asked me at the start of the season that I am at 1 May and still in first four then I should sign for it. We are still in the FA Cup so I am pleased with the results, but not with a lot of the performances of my team.”

More on United’s progress: “Our process is continuing and always we are going better. In spite of the many injuries we have had in the first half of the season, we are there. Also in spite of the criticism of our defence, we are there. So, we are not unhappy, but we could have better results because we are not so much playing it off the pitch. When you see our matches we are mostly the better team, but the better team is not always winning.”

On the prospect of not making the top four: “Big disappointment, of course, a big disappointment. When you start the season with the objective of finishing in the first four of the league it is your objective and you are occupied with doing that. But we are still there, I don't know why are we talking about it when it is not like that, because we are still there. What is the problem?”

United need to beat Sunderland: “It is because of the rat race between 5 clubs that we have to win, we have to be there. It is not so important now, but at the end of the season. Therefore you have to win your matches because the other clubs are winning their matches.”
