The Manchester United Thread

I'm only the anti fan on here, weird with family or friends because they are mostly non united fans i'm more like theatreof and my defensive instincts kick in and i defend united more and are more positive.

Sorry for ******* on the win again lads.

My worry is stemming from how **** of football we are playing and it's not sustainable. Ok if we get top 4 great, LVG will obviously get another season to build and perhaps we'll see something totally different next season as there is obviously weaknesses in the team/squad at the moment.

But if we do not achieve top 4 by end of the season, I fail to see any reasons why I'd be happy by LVG through blind faith for next season pretty much? Spent a **** load of money this season, football has been rubbish and struggled to create chances with a wealth of good players in most games, is a serious worry.

It's not blind faith Zzeezzy look at what he has achieved. He is know for being a bit meh in his 1st season, just laying the foundations on and off the field for next and usually pinching a trophy in the process. Then 2nd season is usually challenging on all fronts.

Anyone should admit the lack of clear chances or half chances we create is a worry, i mean surely that bothers the pro everything united folk?

Right, middle ground time.

We would be in serious trouble with out DDG, and our defense has been dodgy and we are king of the pass back. But we have conceded the least amount of goals behind Chelsea and Southampton.

RVP and Falcao have been ****, but Falcao is getting no service and has just come back from a serious injury that can knock anyone into poor form. RVP has just been *****, and frankly I am glad he is injured as we seem to play much worse with him in the pitch.

We may be playing some terrible football but we are getting the points at the end of the day and that is what matters. I hate watching the games because they are so boring but we get the points. It had better pick up next season and I am sure it will.

We are still in the top 4, but are in danger of losing out, yet if we continue to win we are putting pressure below and above, and a lot of people seem to forget that and think "oh ****, we played **** again, we are so going to lose out on champions league footie" yet fail to realize we still got 3 points.

You may not like the football but don't forget we haven't been in a top 4 battle for donkeys, just the top 2 and we are going to play differently as our goals are different and we have one **** of a stubborn manager.

Now i'm no expert but should it be taken this long to get the team playing fluidly and in a certain way? unless of course dull possesion football is what he wants.

LVG has underestimated this league imo and the size of the job itself

It is a struggle to get use to when you've seen a couple of stunning fergie sides in your lifetime.

It would be a struggle if I didn't also witness several Fergie sides that were ****** and still never went below top 3. Not to mention 10 years worth of Wenger sides that were all **** and never went below top 4 either.

This is football, not synchronized swimming. Making good impression is not required to consistently get good results. Italy has won World Cup 3 times and the only place they ever dominated is the casino.

Am I the only one thinking we will see a completely different United when it comes to playing the big boys? No matter how bad we are playing at the moment, when those games come around, we will hold our own and hopefully get a few wins and a few draws.

They say its a mark of a big player to turn up for the big games. We have a team full of big players. I honesly think come kick-off in these games, this LVG philosophy bullshit will be out of the window. Instinct will kick in for the players. They will get the ball down, quick one or two touch passing, flying forward.

You could argue that they should be playing like that now and using their instincts, but you can say that about every team facing relegation come April 1st every single season. They always turn into Brazil and start smashing teams left, right and centre and people always say, "they would be in Europe if they played like this all season".

Starting from our next game, we have reached our April 1st. Its time to start playing like we can and winning. We are in like a reverse relegation battle. 3rd/4th is like 16/17th. Only 2 can get in, and we all play each other over the next few weeks. And when we start smashing these teams, we'll be the ones saying, "why didnt we play like this all season".

I have been very very harsh at times this season and it probably stems from last years nightmare and coinciding with liverpool's resurgence which is ******* eating and picking at me and some of their football over the past 18 months has been amazing.

I do have this thing about getting worked up over how other teams are doing i can also admit that. So even though some of my points and opinions are kind of correct and won't change i am sorry for acting like a ***** after nearly every game.

20 games, 2 losses, and everyone is losing their head because, ermm, the stupid-as-ever pundits say we are playing terrible football? 4th place in both goals scored and conceded, 4th best goal difference, has the most possession in the league, highest passing accuracy, and is probably the form team if you take away the first few games of the season (which I blame the WC because it caused LVG to only be able to start preparing for life with Man Utd in a very short time).

And all of this is achieved while not having any player (bar De Gea) in proper form. And I'd rather be racking them points in than saying that we are the best attacking team in the game we deserve the title and then let it slip away.

Now i'm no expert but should it be taken this long to get the team playing fluidly and in a certain way? unless of course dull possesion football is what he wants.
When you take all things into account it will take a while and I have faith in lvg. Yes maybe he did underestimate the league but that's understandable as he has never managed before here. Then look at all the injuries we have had and players out the door. Then the new players taking time to adapt to new country and team, some could not even speak English. That's not helped by the fact we seem to have a lot of out of form players. Then a complete change to training and learning a new style of play and constant change in formations and personnel to get the right balance as he is not happy with the squad atm. People can call them excuses or red tinted man or whatever but these factors have got to be taken into acount.

Wow, that is tonne of pessimism here. We are playing bad, yes, but atleast we are getting results. And ****, we have turned up well for most of the big games this season, infact it's the 'minnows' where freaky things have happened (yes Leicester, I'm looking at you). I'm not too worried, we are still getting results. I'd rather we get top 4 in any which way, than play full attractive football and fade away.

That being said, the number of chances created is pretty worrying, and the mentality of the players is kinda too. Last night's match, so many players were content to pass instead of taking the shot, even at decent spots. I understand LvG likes his defensive play, but atleast try to attack from decent spots.. The only ******' player actually taking a slightly risky shot was Marcos Rojo, and that's frankly disappointing.

Also, tactics.. There was almost noone supporting Rooney upfront, it was like he was the lone ranger :\ And ****** noone arriving at the box late to take the shot - I think I counted four such opportunites where a shot could have been taken by a midfielder rushing onwards to the box, but to no avail.

And Valencia, oh ****, Valencia. Why the ****** **** is he there? In the first half, he was torrid - Slowing down attacks, refusing to take on his man and what not. He literally needs a triangle to work with, as most of his passes again were sideways. LvG wants to sell Rafael? Fine. But atleast ******* use him when he is fit, offers much, much more than Valencia.

Evans was surprisingly decent, and Rojo was too. Fellaini had some good touches, and was pretty decent too. di Maria was hot and cold, but meh. Young, I felt, was decent.

Overall, we got the win and we were lucky, but no matter what, it still counts. I'm happy with top 4 this season, even taking into factor our style of play, to facilitate the building up next year. But god, our mentality needs to improve.

Anyone should admit the lack of clear chances or half chances we create is a worry, i mean surely that bothers the pro everything united folk?

Also lack of killer instinct is killing us. I'm not defending Van Gaal, if anything I made so many rant against his system and how we are playing but we are creating clear cut chances.

Against Southampton Mata alone missed 3 clear cut chances, against Chelsea RVP missed 2 one on ones.

Yesterday from top of my head, Rooney's chance where he thought he was offside, should have scored.
Di Maria's pass to Rooney after Coloccini's slip.
Fellaini's chance and Young's follow up chance. Both were clear cut chances.
Then offside goal.
Fellaini's header from Valencia cross, he had so much space he could have scored with his feet rather than head.
Rooney's header which was saved by Krul.

There were few more. We are not clinical enough in the last few games.

Bodes well for mext year, the teams in 2nd and 3rd are both only a bit behind and playing at 80%.

Dude, we improved yesterday...i simply don't where all this talk of no creating chances is coming from

Finally someone thinking like me

If we can be more clinical in front of goal, we're gold...

A new low?

'Another night of Man United mediocrity as Young pounces late...but why did Giggs blank LVG?' is the tweet from MailOnline Sport on Thursday morning.

'Blanked'?

Here's what Ian Ladyman writes: 'In the aftermath of a remarkably freakish Manchester United winner at St James' Park on Wednesday night, an unusually animated Louis van Gaal pinched Ryan Giggs hard on the cheek and stared hard in to his eyes as if to say: 'I told you so'.

'The only problem was that Giggs wasn't buying it. Giggs has been at United for two decades and didn't even crack a smile. He knows that football like this will not take his football club where it needs to go. Not in the long run, anyway.'

So man pinches another man's cheek hard; man does not smile. And that's 'blanking'? And that's the Sports Website Of The Year?
