The Manchester United Thread

Why is everyone **** bent on buying wingers? On the left wing there's already 60m Di Maria warming the bench at this point and Young is definitely staying the way he's been playing. I'd imagine Januzaj might be leaving since he's been wank and far too low in the pecking order.

Reus is out of the question anyways, since you need width on the left with Mata cutting inside from the right.

For me the primary focus should be in 3 areas: CB, RB and Carrick replacement needs to be lined up - he's getting old and injury prone.

If there's some money left or if RVP/Hernandez can be sold well, a second top striker wouldn't hurt, since you'll need that for CL games.

Carrick replacement is present in Blind, similar kind of player, and will improve even more with age. Young is getting old, Januzaj will be out on loan, most probably, our main wide players will be di Maria and Mata. Depay will definitely a good investment, plus he's young. Although he likes to cut-in a lot too.

For CB, hopefully we'll get in Hummels, RB seems done and dusted (apparently) with Clyne (although I still prefer Rafael :\);; remaining ones are a CM (Pogba/Schneiderlin/Gundogan) and ST (please no Cavani)

Apart from a few names i have no clue and most people might not on who LVG will want because some players we are clamouring for might not suit LVG and yes that word philosophy.

Likes of Vietto and Lacazette might look great on paper to sign and do well for their current sides but Van Gaal might prefer someone completely from left field.

Oh, and speaking of midfielders, lots of rumours about Khedira. I, for one, am not that enthused, way too injury prone. Oh, and does make errors quite a bit.

You need them well before the FA plan, you need them just for the current rules. Boyata is only there for you to stay inside the rules. so unless you are giving up four places to players you wont actually use, you need homegrown talent. It's why you are following Cresswell to replace Kolarov.

And you can't spend 150m either too, not without selling players.

Hart, Wright, Boyata, & Clichy all qualify, not counting Milner and Lampard, leaves exactly 17 foreign non qualifed players in the squad as is at 23.

I would expect them to target but its not as essential to buy all or as many HG as the papers make out. Its only a minimum of 2 essentially to replace Milner/Lamp. I think its a case of them reporting target 10 HG for all the headlines in reality post summer bought 3 HG. The non-HG will be one in, one out.

I said that :) Papers always state the figure spent and dont take off the recoup'd got love the inflating of figures. I would expect the in/out columns will tally in prices and player position come the end of summer, with the in being marginally higher in the end.

Watch em **** me up and go nuts now and replace everyone bar 5 guys... :)

Both are only clearly there for HG, Boyata plays Cup games when he aint injured (not often). I would expect Wright to be bumped for a rookie (Most likely Gunn - Bryan Gunn's kid) in the post-season and givin a coach job. I've no idea he's any good though, but hes not gonna play.

Khedira would be good in the sense he would be free and is still a good player. But he does have the odd mistake, also not sure on his injury now but has shown no effects of his long term one.

Richard wright has made a living off being a 3rd/2nd choice keeper at clubs and winning medals for doing **** all.

His wages are ridiculous (reported 150-200k)

Khedira or de jong seem like cheap options and lvg waiting for someone else the following year.

Not if you're actually trying to add quality to your side. You have players added who provide nothing. Consider that United and Chelsea wont' waste those numbers, your actually leaving yourself players short against them. That's my point, if you are trying to improve your whole squad, you have to target homegrown just as much, hence the tracking of Cresswell, Barkley, why you signed Rodwell.

Where will de Jong even play? Carrick has his spot. IT could be planning for injuries, but I'd want Blind to take his place then. Carrick and Blind are totally different players compared to de Jong.

True, they just name Thorpe, Blackman etc where we've had to keep players we should have let go longer (Boya/Wright). I'm soo not a fan of Txixi's buying record. Cook might be a collosal **** but **** he got transfers done.

I'd go Kolarov/Cresswell - Nasri/De Bruyne - Toure/Pogba - Jovetic/Ings - Boyata/Shawcross

Theres 5 out in places we need and 4 that meet HG with the price probably matched (ish) I dont think there a massive improvement though, but i think most of it is a management/motivation issue at the min.

Still leave room for a marquee/rookie HG if they need it, ie the Barkley/Wilshere/Prowse stories...

You could even take Jay Rodriguez over Ings depending on his rehab. I would think all of them are possible bar the Shawcross one, but thats just me as he's awesome in FM. :) If they had there **** together you could have got Clyne/Sagna added to the list above , clowns. :)

De Jong would be a good cheap squad option no more though!

Young is just 3 years younger than me, so screw you. :(

Also, De Jong and Carrick are fairly similar players. except De Jong is a lot better defensively.
